The Great Beyond
Independent craft booze shop owned by passionate locals, stocking good booze with a soul.
I have been unreliable the last week or so, may have pi**ed a few of you off. I’m real sorry for this. It will pass, I’ll figure it out and get on top of it, I always do, but perhaps for a while if we could not mention my knee or limp, that’d be swell. The pain killers that make me agile enough to not limp really f**k with my head, and I end up super sore, and kinda like hungover from taking them…. But the conversation about “didn’t you jut have an operation?” really f**ks with it too, which is hard to address because those having it are coming from a compassionate place, but yeah, it turns screws and is getting a bit much. If you have been inconvenienced by my unreliability, please let me know because I’d like to compensate you, it’s critical that small business in times like this are supported, and I don’t want to turn you off. 6 months and 2 weeks so far on the waiting list for a new psychiatrist appointment is taking it’s toll. But again, I’ll do my best with what I can, thanks for reading, sorry it is a bit of a mess and is all over the place, doing this is really f**king hard, but it can also be really rewarding, thanks for being a part of it, sincerely, Ryan.
Sometimes I can’t help myself. Sorry Micah.
Thanks to some spicy driving nearby, tonight is postponed and we hope Kirk is okay!
I really miss that beer, and I know a few of you do too!
Looking forward to this!
The week that was, a dogumentary.
This is huge news; Rocky Ridge's beers are some of the best in the country, and by all accounts, they're good eggs too. Freight from WA to Melbourne's f**king expensive (actually from anywhere to anywhere), ((actually actually everything's f**king expensive)) so they've not really managed to gain a strong footing here. This should help. Brace yourselves for fresh Rock Juice, friends.
Rocky Ridge Buy Thunder Road The good beer news continues to flow from WA with Rocky Ridge Brewing taking ownership of Thunder Road Brewing in Melbourne as of today. The deal means the Margaret River-based brewery will have a new home in Brunswick East in the coming weeks, while also substantially increasing their production ...
I asked, they delivered… Hargreaves Hill Brewing Company & One Drop get 2024’s season underway in extraordinary style. Honestly, I think R.I.S. has been a bit over rated in the past few years, but this one is mind blowing.
Tomorrow, one of our all time favourite winemakers, and people joins us to sling some booze. Ripping dude, ripping drinks, possibly your last chance to leave the house if the weather forecast is to be believed!
I just got sent this picture from Captain Hodgman live on the high seas just outside Hobart. He reports this vessel is heading North, and is carrying more cargo than the previous shipment.
Can’t believe nobody got it. This week is the annual grog song show, don’t miss it. Rachel’s favourite 2 hours of the week 😆😆
Get to it!
These 3 wines are pretty darn groovy, Meg is grouse, and it won’t be raining sideways!
Last night was pretty quiet, which is a shame because you missed Felix t-shirt, s**t jokes and vino. I hope it was the crappy weather. On the bright side; todays weather…. and there’s heaps of vino left. He was very generous. Come down and give ‘em a whirl or tee up a delivery - reminder, it’s free now locally without any minimum so go for your biscuit! :)
I have booked a few of these back in, so stay tuned! We will have heaps of wine open Friday night, a few imports and a few locals from names new and old. Would love to see you. Sorry about your eyes Felix.
Swipe for part 2.
Me: "Yeah dogs are great but I've seen it all."
This pup: "Say again?"
inside jackets.
When the world changed and things got tough, I did not want a part of the way they were going, so I stepped aside, but nobody wants to see this. They will be e very sorely missed. We need to be talking to our local mps about this, ultimately the ATO is acting on our behalf, and I do not think that if the process was transparent, most people would be okay with what’s going on.
Well hello from deep in thought town…..
This beer is so modern Australia Post dusted off the horse and cart to deliver it. If you crave the IBU war days of yesteryear, get into it.
Thank you so much, this has been the best week in ages. 😀
Remember Five Walls Pinot? This is the best red we have seen since those glorious days. It’s like the best bits of a good Aussie Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and Pinot Noir were somehow mashed together. There’s a bottle open if you want give it a whirl. Seems odd to have a wine of the winter so early, but hey, here we are.
Hello mates, we are here until 7pm tonight and off tomorrow. 😀
I see lots of f**kery in this business, but if I call it out myself I look far more cantankerous than I am. However, when the national broadcaster does it for me, it'd be neglectful to not share. Hopefully they keep the foot on the gas and get after the Naked Wines style bulls**t machine, too.
The grog, non-grog, even chips, coffee and jerky we sell all has genuine stories and people behind it, which we can tell about you if you like. What's more, it's sold by other people so you can genuinely gauge the value of what we offer.
The wine labelling loopholes that have some growers seeing red If you've picked up a bottle of wine because the label looked fun and seemed to originate from a wine region you trust, it may be time to take a closer look.
All images taken prior to "boxer sillies" kicking in. Images taken post boxer sillies all look like brown blurs. It was a lovely experience to be able to initiate boxer sillies rather than having them thrust upon us. What a magnificent - photogenic too, couldn't pick a favourite.

Hello Coburg
My name is Ryan. I’m a Coburg local who was fed up with travelling outside the ‘burg to get interesting booze to drink at home. So we set about fixin’ that problem with this here little shop here on Bell street. There’s 200+ good craft beers that change every week, I’ve got a couple of hundred great wines of all shapes and sizes, and a few dozen local gins, whiskies, liqueurs and delights. Every day I have something new and interesting open to taste and I’d love to help you along your booze discovery journey. I try to make it fun and w**k free. I look forward to seeing you soon.
