❌❌ URGENT FOSTER PLACEMENT NEEDED❌❌

Looking for help for this boy, his owners moving Wednesday 11th and he needs a home before then.
Located Northern Suburb Melb

Loki is 11 months old, vaccinated not des*xed

He is a bundle of energy and has very little training. There is nothing aggressive about him but he jumps up and does not calm down, he’s excitable for attention. . He would not be suited to a family with small children because of his jumping up.
He has frequented the dog park and is dog friendly, but can be a little full on, he accepts being put in place by other dogs.
He is a beautiful dog but needs to have someone who is willing to work on his manners.

Please pm if you can help

Sesi | 3 yr old | Female | Siberian Husky
Located melb

Sesi is an absolute stunner! She adores people and loves attention but what's truly impressive with her manners. She attends daycare regularly which she has glowing reviews. By all accounts, Sesi is a well-behaved and mannered girl. She can get a bit excited on the leash, she responds promptly to correction although she could do with some more lead training. What shines through most is her joyful spirit - she's a happy girl who also knows how to relax and unwind, as evident from her calm demeanor. Overall, Sesi is a delightful companion who is sure to bring plenty of love and laughter into her new home.
Sesi knows commands like sit, down, and stay and is fully house-trained.
Great with other dogs, but can be too enthusiastic and physical at times. Would suit as an only dog or a friendly same size, active companion.
Not known around young children, we’d recommend older dog experienced children just as she can be excitable.

We'd like to share a heartwarming testimonial from one of our amazing foster families, as featured on the SavourLife team's platform! 12-year-old Liam has written his experience fostering for us, we highly recommend reading and hope this may prompt you, if you're considering opening your heart and home to these beautiful dogs. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way, making the fostering process smooth and enjoyable.
Please apply here https://homesforhuskies.org.au/foster/

Our next Focus on Foster Care month story is a special one and comes from Liam a 12-year-old foster brother to 12 bundles of fur in the past 6 years! 🐶

“How do you let them go?”, that’s usually the first question people ask when they find out we foster huskies. For many, it is extremely sad to give a dog away.

But for me it’s more about the amazing feeling when you get to see the dogs go to a family you know will treat them well, and there’s always another doggie who’s looking for a foster.

It's indescribable, the joy of seeing them find a perfect-forever-home after being surrendered for no fault of their own. But of course, right from the start, I know that we are just giving the dog a temporary home, to make them comfortable, secure and confident till our rescue, Homes for Huskies, lovingly and painstakingly and thoroughly scour and match new families for them.

Biscuit came to us with a fear of…literally, everything!

She was a statue carved by fear. But when she left, she was described as: agile as a gazelle, beautiful as a butterfly, and curious as a Captain Cook.

It wasn’t a walk in the park to transform her and a common misconception is that to make a dog more confident, you have to smother it with kisses and hugs and soothe it all the time.

What worked with Biscuit was; first gaining her trust so she followed us and had fewer decisions to make, and then timing affection for when she exhibited confidence. Slowly but surely, she blossomed.

Bikkie as we affectionately called her, was only one of the 12 dogs who have graced our home so far. From this entire experience I learnt to identify when a dog is uncomfortable, to give space when they want it, to give direction when they need it.

We’ve had a whole range of doggie personalities, there was chaotic Keevi, mischievous Manny, sweet Snowy, gentle giant Ghost and Auntie Addie. And the current, Kind Kai, he’s one of the most loving and obedient, but he can be wild at times.

He used to fly all over the place and scratch the floor, but now that we’ve used his obedience to make him much calmer, my dad doesn’t have to cringe when the claws come out. We've had some gentle doggies too, the ravishing Raven, the kool Koby, flighty delightful Duckie, inimitable Ice...can you imagine how colourful our lives have been?

Ghost was our first foster and I was about as tall as him. Gentle though he was, he was also a pushy big brother, subtly bumping me out of the way to get to my dad and mum.

Then Raven, the mild gorgeous lil sister, Keevi the cheeky partner-in-crime, I feel like I've had a dozen siblings already. I can’t begin to fathom what a different person I would be without these adorable pests...oops, I mean pets!

Give fostering a go yourself, you'll love it and you'll thank me I'm sure! 🙃”

Thank you so much for sharing your story Liam! 🙌

Kodi | 18mnths | Male | Siberian Husky

Located Melb

Meet Kodi, a charming and energetic young husky seeking a loving home where he'll receive plenty of attention and affection. This sweet boy is eager to explore the world and enjoys running, playing, and cuddling. Kodi is gentle on the lead, but can get excited and pull slightly when encountering other animals or people.

He's a smaller male husky with a big personality, and his friendly nature makes him suitable for households with older children. However, due to his excitable nature, we recommend a home with kids who can handle his enthusiasm.

Kodi can be energetic around other dogs and may be cautious due to limited socialization. He's had brief encounters with other dogs during walks, but would benefit from further socialization to help him become more confident.
He knows sit, stay and wait.

Please note that Kodi is not yet fully vetworked. However, once he is welcomed into foster care, our rescue will ensure that all necessary veterinary work is completed.

❣️ The last of our babies is now ready to find his forever home ..

Juniper | 3 months old | Male | Siberian Husky
Located Melb

Meet Juniper- a small puppy with sass to make up for his size. The smallest of his siblings, Juni is also the bravest. Absolutely nothing phases this dude- truly. He will stand up for himself amongst the big dogs, befriend small dogs, and wag his tail at cats.

He is a foodie extraordinare and will do pretty much anything for a treat or two- making him super easy to train. He has taken after the big dogs in the house, learning toilet training pretty well (we're up to about 75% outside).

True to the husky stereotype, Juni is a loud mouth. He loves a chat and will tell you exactly what he is thinking and then some. And then some more.

He is an extremely snuggly guy and at the moment, has recall which would be great for the right person to continue to work with as he is much more people motivated that a normal husky as he was hand raised.

Juniper suffered a shoulder injury as a puppy, leaving his front left shoulder with slight nerve damage. This means occasionally Juni may stumble on this leg or 'face plant', but he always gets back up like nothing happened. He also may bunny hop when he runs. This nerve damage will not get worse, and does not affect him in any way or cause pain. We will happily discuss with the adopter.

Juni is seeking a forever home where he'll receive plenty of attention and interaction! As a highly social pup, he's never been alone and would thrive in a household with compatible canine buddy or two. Juni loves people and company, so a home where he'll be included in the action is a must!

Cosmo | Male | 3yrs 7m | Siberian Husky
Located Melb

Meet Cosmo, the handsome charmer!

This lovely lad is seeking a new home. Cosmo loves attention and loves to be the centre of attention but not in a pushy way. He is a silly, cheeky, and affectionate personality who loves to accompany you wherever you need to go- bunnings is his favourite!

Cosmo needs time to adjust to new surroundings, as he can experience separation anxiety. Our vets have started him on fluoxetine to help with his transition. He's fully crate trained, spending hours in his crate without fuss or accidents. Once he has a routine he is a no fuss boy.

Cosmo loves activities and needs a home where he can come and go freely. Once exercised, he's happy to chill and hang out. His favourite place is directly on your lap- a rare snuggly husky.

This social butterfly loves people and has been canine buddy well-socialized. So would do well with another dog, he doesn't mind s*x- no issues with either or as an only dog with attentive humans. He's playful, walks well on a lead, and responds to commands. Cosmo is quiet, rarely barking or howling, and has no issues with visitors.

Cosmo needs an experienced, firm human as he can be stubborn at times and take on house management. Although he can be a sensitive boy, he does takes corrections very well but can get upset if he thinks you correct too harshly, he won't talk to you for a bit 😂
With patience, love, and attention, he'll thrive in his new home.
Suited to older children

“Storm”
GSD X Malamute
Black & Tan
Female entire
D.O.B - 30.10.2022
M/C 953 010 006 187 445
Storm has been at the pound for 164 days so far.
We know she may not fit the typical breed description, and her appearance may not be what you'd expect, but this sweet girl deserves a second chance at a happy life. With 164 days spent in the pound, it's heartbreaking to think she's been waiting for so long. Unfortunately, with all rescues at full capacity, including ours, her time is running out. If we can't find her a home, she'll be at risk of euthanasia to make room for more animals in need.

She is requiring an experienced handler to take her on. Storm is an active girl who is highly intelligent. She loves to chase the ball and interact with staff.
Storm would benefit from further socialisation with other dogs. She is very excitable upon approach but does settle and wants to play after an initial meet. As she likes to engage in rough play, if being placed with another dog, it would need to be one that could handle this play style.
Storm requires a handler that is experienced with the Arctic/German Shepherd breeds so that she can reach her full potential. She also has developed a fear/is uncomfortable being restrained, this behaviour shows as heavily mouthing and moving around. It is for this reason she requires someone with the experience and patience to work through this developed behaviour so that she can find a loving home.
Storm is up to date with Vaccinations, flea and worm treatment
Please complete the foster if you can help Storm

Kai | 3yrs | Male | Siberian Husky
Located Melb

Since we have had Kai in foster care for several weeks now, its given us a chance to get know him a lot more and watch him shine. His carers have now updated his profile and this boy is a total charmer and ready for his new family to give him his happy ever after ♥️

Those ice-blue eyes coupled with the lean clean black n white gorgeous husky bod, this hunk is stealing hearts left right and centre! For those looking for a young, very handsome, Very Good Boy who only wants to please his humans, look no further than Kai! He has endless love to give, ever so often a quick lick to tell his humans how much he loves them and with his husky siblings, he's the ever patient ever playful younger brother, happy to share his food or bed.

There will be so much upside to Kai joining your household – he is a big ball of love, affectionate and LOVES kisses and hugs. He loves to have the ball thrown to him, and just adores being a part of things. Keep him alone at home, he'll sleep; take him with you, he'll be a curious bundle of energy, loves outdoors and indoors alike.

Kai is a younger dog with a whole life of love to give. Accordingly, he’s got great energy levels, is always excited to see everyone in the morning and loves running on the lead. If you’re a runner, he’s going to LOVE life with you.

Kai is good on lead, when walking in quiet areas. He can get excited on bustling streets or around other dogs, but is slowly learning to handle those well and given his high obedience levels it is only a matter of time till he struts those streets like a calm dude. In other good news, Kai isn’t a digger, with only one tiny hole under his furry belt.

Kai isn’t noisy, but will have a chat with this people, and if he’s got shelter during a storm, they don’t worry him. In fact weird and new sounds or noises don't seem to faze him at all, he just takes everything in stride.

He has been around school aged kids and is gentle. Kai is currently living with an older female husky sibling - she's the bossy snobby queen and he's careful not to push her buttons too far, but loves to play with her on her terms. He's working on his excitement levels on meeting new dogs but he's been very easy to train.

He’s just a lovely husky and he’s going to make a household very happy indeed for years to come. Does he sound like he needs to come and live with you?

KENAI | 4yrs old | Male | Siberian Husky
Located Melb

Why hello gorgeous! Kenai is a lovely, playful 4-year-old male Siberian Husky who needs a new home through no fault of his own. He’s a handsome black and white chap with blue eyes and a whole lifetime of love to give.

Kenai loves walks and enclosed doggy parks (and has a typical husky recall, aka none unless you’re holding treats). He also loves pats and tummy rubs (frankly, who doesn’t?!?).

Kenai is very chatty when you get home and he loves to tell you all about his day. He also loves sunbaking and getting in the water at the beach. He's very friendly with humans and loves bones and treats.

Kenai is an extremely lovable goofy husky and we know the perfect home is out there for him. Around the house, he likes to come in and out as he pleases (and sleep wherever he pleases) and we’d love to see this continue. He's also chill when he’s at home, has his playful moments, and gets along with other dogs and humans alike.

Kenai has some training and will sit, drop and shake. He is husky stubborn and to train him, you’re going to need to bring snacks.

Kenai is currently living as an only dog and is quite happy with this, as long as he’s allowed indoor access and is made part of the family.

Kenai isn’t a digger, isn’t fazed by storms, and has all the ingredients to be a fantastic member of the household. Does it sound like he could be a good fit for you?

Reana is the mother of our 9 babies, she has closed the milk bar, so we need a new home for her ASAP.

💖 Best Qualities: Cuddly, love bug! Not your typical independent only-on-her-terms husky!

🚶 Walks well on leash! Not a lady who needs a strong arm.

Simple Analogy — Why rescues can’t save them all…

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog.
When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water (pounds and shelters) gets to die.

Every day rescue adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues Groups are the tiny Rescue Boats.

The Ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and irresponsible people who won’t spay/neuter.

Please be kind to rescue groups, we are trying our best!

2.5 weeks, our babies are growing fast and eyes are open ♥️♥️

Photos from Homes For Huskies Rescue Inc's post 12/04/2024

Meet our new little family ♥️

When we met Raena (previously Luna) she was in kennels, heavily pregnant. Thankfully our amazing network of foster carers stepped up and we managed to place Raena in a home to ready for motherhood. Unfortunately, this was not her first litter. Previously her and the husky she lived with had already had a litter- however, the people who dumped her at the vet clinic to be euthanised had already sold her companion a month previously. 😞 As far as we know, they were not aware she was pregnant for a second time when they took her to the clinic and asking to end her life. Thankfully the vets contacted us to help her.

Onwards and upwards, Raena visited the vet and we were told to expect 6 babies! So we waited... and waited... and waited some more! Raena was growing larger by the day, but wasn't ready to give up the pups yet!

Finally on Sunday night Raena decided it was time and as she gave birth to 4 big babies, we realised fairly quickly she overcooked the pups and they were HUGE! So off to the vet where Raena had a caesarean and welcomed another 5 pups- totalling 9 altogether!

Raena recovered very quickly despite some anaemia and has settled into her very last go of motherhood very well. While this may not be her first litter, it will absolutely be her last.

Our beautiful ‘nature’ litter have had a health check and all are healthy whoppers. They will be des*xed and ready for adoption at 12 weeks old- stay tuned for updates.
