Today marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of Fabian Hutchinson, Deakin University's foundation University Archivist. By all reports Fabian was a lively conversationalist and educator with a passion for archives. This photograph, taken during his time at Deakin, shows a young man with a sartorial flair, a diligent by-the-book approach to his work, and a glint in his eye. We have many audio interviews that Fabian conducted with founding deans and Vice-Chancellors during the early days of the University, and his curiosity, knowledge and engaging manner shine through. His work continues to live on here in the Deakin Archives.
