Garments, accessories, soft tableware and more. New, secondhand, repurposed. Mostly Melbourne made. Please email [email protected] with all queries.
Milly Sleeping on Elgin Street is now (mostly) closed ... Our online shop remains active: millysleeping.com ... A small selection of sale items will be available to try on Fridays and Saturdays throughout February.
After a couple of polite nudges, I made my second ever batch of silk scrunchies, available online in the Scrapbook section. These are all made from remnant fabrics; pictured here are two sweet Japanese prints and a Dries Van Noten swirl (which was a damaged skirt).
Lovely weather for fish (so far in Naarm this morning) . . . It’s the last day of the June sale/last opp to take 30% off current offerings including the little ‘paru’. I’ve still got them listed individually but if anybody would like help putting together a mobile of sorts, you’re welcome to be in touch. These quick versions have surprised me - they’re very sweet.
Entering the last days of June and the June sale! It’s been really good to wrap up a bundle of nice things and send them on their way - thank you. 💐 There are still owls and stars and collage cards (etc) to be had for 30% off using code JUNE30 during check-out.
My favourite big cushion cover (Euro size) ... Started preparing to post it here the other day, felt covetous, and paused ... 🐹😅
Winter flowers, mostly roses - including one white rose on a bush of deep red. (Also, some extremely sweet magnolia buds).
JUNE30 is your discount code to take 30% off Milly keepsakes, accessories, decor and cards during June. A few recent orderers have suggested to me that they thought the sale was over but we’re only half way through. ☺️ To the array, I’ve just finished adding some extra pieces (all handmade one-offs) found packed up at the studio . . .
An early morning in Brunswick is nice esp when it involves kaak from Tabet’s and a great little garage sale - raising funds for - - - until 4pm at 2 Black St, near Brunswick and Sydney Rds. (Why didn’t I buy the pink jacket hmm) 💞
1 - 2 - 3 sweet things (eligible for June sale discount) …
💐💐 ... Thank you for the lovely orders placed over the weekend. JUNE30 is the discount code to take 30% off decor, keepsakes, card, wrap and accessories during June.
June SALE starts today . . . On the other side of this new month, Prithvi and I will be moving . . . and perhaps no further explanation is required. Now’s a good time to have a sale. This one is discount coded ... Take 30% off decor and keepsakes at millyarcana.com by typing in JUNE30 at checkout. This is not applicable to Scrapbook clothing and garage sale bits but I have added a few nice accessories into the mix.
I woke up to - - - accidental apt collage / we are running out of words / we have said all the words

Collages in progress including first attempt at a 17th century flower garland ... Final image is a painting by Daniel Seghers that lives in the Louvre. All flowers from an entire book of clematis.
At the library this morning, fell in love with these photographs by Kjell B. Sandved for a book called … ‘Butterflies’ (text by Jo Brewer).

Feeling quite relieved to say that I’ve just reset the Pick-up option for orders back to normal, and I’ll spend the next little while adjusting all the online product descriptions to reflect the fact that I’m home and ready to accept commissions/made-to-order requests again ... Tough to say goodbye to Japan, though! Above, one of my favourite scenes/moments outside a lovely shop on Matsubara Dori (I think) in Kyoto.
Hello from early morning in Osaka. I had Easter in mind when I made some of these pieces… If you have in mind to send someone a treat this week, it can be arranged to go directly to your recipient - with a Milly card and a note if you like. During checkout, you can include their address as the shipping address and add some instructions where there’s room for a comment. If in doubt, email or DM 💌
I prepared these images just before I left - was looking up Faberge eggs (honestly, to try to understand their appeal) and got distracted by Faberge flowers. I’d never seen Faberge flowers before. Now that I’m in Japan, these seem like something I might see in a gallery or window box. The French influence is strong in the cities, in the architecture and decor.
The fish are now up at millyarcana.com ... In the item description, I’ve said why I call them Paru (after Pomecanthus Paru)... I didn’t add that it also makes me think of the French word ‘disparu’ ... which can mean ‘disappeared’. Il a disparu. This feels right somehow, for the ways of a small tropical fish. (You see it, you don’t) …
(You may have seen) the symbols postcards are available again online. I made them last year for Christmas, but this postcard is my favourite and not particularly Christmas-y. I have made an adjustment to the set - which is to take out the poinsettia and add a small anonymous flower.
At the top of the diary notes LHS it says Anne’s (my favourite fabric store on Sydney Rd) and at the bottom it says JAPAN >> ... which is for real. Very early tomorrow morning, Prithvi and I are going to Japan and then to Singapore for a family wedding. We are not excited, ha ha ... We have both spent the past week/s not sleeping well, wondering who stole our comfortable expensive pillows and replaced them with poor imposters, holding sore necks, and relearning the precise definition of malaise. No, we are starting to feel excited ... It is just nerves, and the mind doing its ceaseless revolutions.
It is wild to be travelling. It is wild to be travelling at a time like this. Maybe it’s no more wild to be travelling at a time like this than at any other time.
And - “wake up and think of Palestine; make coffee and think of Palestine”; pack a suitcase and think of Palestine. Free Palestine.
It’s Pisces season - and coming up to Easter, which is when I first made some fish a couple of years ago. I have been working on some new ones. This time I’m tempted to add some button eyes, even though I think button eyes are a cliché. (Even though I think button eyes are a cliché, I don’t think all clichés are bad).
Collage wrap on a sunny morning …
A whim ... Coming soon ⌚️
MARCH/APRIL COMMISSIONS ... All caps because I won’t be at my work table for the last 3 weeks of March. This means that if you’re contemplating a made-to-order gift for the period mid-March to mid-April, I need to make it for you before I go. Please be in touch via [email protected] or DM — Leah
