This is, of course, a joke, but only partially. Trees and plants are unburdened with emotion and ego and seek only to grow toward the light regardless of situation or circumstance. When we observe and spend time in nature our hearts reopen to the same frequency of life that flows though us as humans, even though for us this frequency becomes dulled by the drain and stress of 'modern living'. Next time you're feeling lost or down or sad try sitting under a beautiful tree and listening without expectation. You may find a strange sense of kinship arise! By connecting with plants we connect ourselves to the highest frequency of life on earth and we can come home to rest in beauty ππΏπ³
Deep gratitude for the mystery and the magic of the universe, and the universe within- one and the same... leading us all back through this tremendous experience we call life to the dark peace of creation. I am currently blessed to be pregnant with my second child and therefore there are a few changes to the details of Yogaheart classes this year. The website has just been updated to reflect this and I'm feeling a wonderful anticipation of all the good stuff to come this year π Classes resume from the 30th of January 2018. Link in bio to learn more of course. Namaste friends! Xx Illustration via πβ¨π

Have you ever thought about why stretching feels so good?
The body's cells literally receive a detox when we extend our muscles and lubricate joins and ligaments. Stretching allows the lymph to move through our systems and the beautiful, bright, fresh blood flowing into areas of congestion and fatigue releases and cleanses stress toxins. Yoga can be similar to massage in terms of the uplifting effects of revitalization and release. But, this is only scratching the surface! When we stretch the body we are also focusing and extending the mind by encouraging it to be still and quiet and to pay attention to the vibration (some would call this 'discomfort' π) within the body as these sensations arise. Stretching teaches the mind to increase its capacity for peace amid challenge and this is an amazing benefit to take beyond the mat! ππ
Have no fear of silence. It is the birthplace of the spark of all Life. These days are busy days and it seems we have collectively become more and more removed from the natural peace to be found in sitting in Silence. It's uncomfortable because we become aware of the maya of our thoughts- everything we think reality is, or should be. When we are still for long enough, however, as happens in meditation, we come to a place of surrender where 'we' becomes less important than the profound peace and potential of the silence itself- the Absolute. Here the soul can rest.
Our humble abode, the 'little shala of peace' aka our studio. Yogaheart brings the focus of yoga back to serving ourselves, each other and our beautiful Mother Earth. Ours is a studio where all can practice with support and acceptance. Spring/summer yoga classes begin Tuesday 24th October at 7.30pm. Meet us at 120 Millswyn street, South Yarra for a traditional, authentic yoga experience. β¨π
One of the jewels of Patanjali's teachings, within the first limb of the eight fold path of yoga is Yama, meaning 'moral disciplines' π is specifically 'restraint from violence or harm' and begins with awareness of even the smallest personal trespasses in this area. Kindness and compassion begin within ourselves through recognizing that we too are an inextractable element of the larger, cosmic universe. We are Divinity. When we sense this truth we can begin to love all life as though we were seeing our own self everywhere.
The benefits of yoga extend far beyond simple fitness. The more openly and deeply we come to know yoga the more deeply we come to know reality and our true image. Then life becomes pure joy as we understand our true purpose πΈ
