Wow that Whitsundays sun looks good on our MYC sailors faces ! We’ve just had two of our teams compete in the Airlee Beach Race Week. The Rush team lead by Stu, Dave and Jason sailed to podium victory with 3rd on CBH and 2nd on PHS, a fantastic performance. Zippier lead by Tim was quite unlucky with catastrophic boat failure meaning they weren’t on the water for half the event unfortunately.
Repost Finn Class Australia| Best wishes to our very own Jack Eickmeyer for his 3rd overseas trip this year, he’s been training hard with a recent event in QLD and will be pushing the top guys in the Finn Gold Cup (Open worlds) and Finn Silver Cup (U23 Worlds) in Aarhus, Denmark 31st Aug to 7th September. Sail it like you stole it! | |

Repost 📝 An amazing story found its way to ORCV HQ last week, and it was too good not to share. 20 year-old Will McKenzie from Mornington Yacht Club has recently competed in the 2024 Newport to Bermuda race on the J111 Blur from Sweden - a model he is familiar with as a regular competitor in ORCV races aboard J111 Ginan - and his report makes for a fantastic read.
Check out the story here: www.orcv.org.au/club-blog/5580-2024ng1
Will is part of the next generation of ocean sailors, something ORCV is fostering through it’s NextGen program which provides training, on-water opportunities, and access to boats and gear as a pathway towards competition.
If you’re under 30 and interested in getting involved - or know someone who might be - please DM us to hear more.

Matt Wearn a inspiration to all Australians, BACK TO BACK gold medals at the Olympics, he's first person to achieve this in the Full rig laser/ILCA after battling back from long covid in 2022. We’re proud to say he’s been inspiring our junior and youth sailors for years. Flashback to Sail Melbourne 2022 where Matt’s photographed with then aspiring young MYC IlCA 6 sailors that have now transitioned to the ILCA 7. World Sailing has released the new 2025-2028 RRS (the Racing Rules of Sailing aka 'The Blue Book') which will come in to force in 2025.
The new RRS can be downloaded from the link below:

A massive congratulations to Lachie, Jack and Tom who have just completed the ILCA 7 u21 Worlds amongst 155 other male competitors from many countries. Jack had a stand out result finishing 13th after a brutal last day and a black flag on the score card. Lachie finished 41st and Tom finished 62nd. The club is exceptionally proud of these boys pushing through the tremendously difficult 12 race series in Portugal. They will come back to their training now with many lessons learnt and new skills to implement leading into the domestic summer season.
We're thrilled to announce the dates for our fun chat about Sailing! Regardless of your sailing experience - be it none, a little, or plenty - we've got a spot for you and your friends. So, let everyone know about this exciting opportunity! We'll then schedule some sailing dates for the upcoming season. We can't wait to share the joy of sailing with you all!

What a wonderful winter weekend at MYC ! Over the two days we had over 15 School team sailors from Woodleigh School & Peninsula Grammar in their last training session before Nationals, 25 ILCA/Laser sailors and 11 Opti sailors. The wind played beautifully for us and provided a mix of great learning conditions. We can’t wait for our next Winter training weekend coming up on July the 27th & 28th which should be another great opportunity to hit the water we welcome all sailors.
