Is your child π§ experiencing "growing pains"? You've come to the right place then.
Many people believe that βgrowth spurtsβ are the cause of pains of the hips, knees, legs, shins, ankles or feet in children but majority of these cases are the result of biomechanical malalignment. Some cases of βnight painsβ in children can be attributed to an episode of increased activity πββοΈ often without appropriate footwear. π This puts increased stress and pressure on the small joints, muscles, and ligaments of your child, causing them pain or discomfort.
It is important to have your child appropriately assessed by a podiatrist, call us on βοΈ (08) 6269 2038 to book an appointment today at one of our various locations across Perth. π€©
With our kid's π¦ off school π this is the perfect opportunity to get them into the Podiatrist for a kid's foot π¦Ά check before life gets busy again.

Our process of providing you with custom orthotics involves three π steps: orthotic casting, orthotic fitting and orthotic review.
βοΈ At your orthotic casting, your Podiatrist will take a 3D scan or plaster mould of your feet. This will then be sent to a lab to be made into orthotics.
βοΈ At your orthotic fitting, your Podiatrist will ensure they have been made correctly and fit to your feet and shoes the way you need them to.
π At your orthotic review, your Podiatrist will ensure the orthotics have been doing their job and make any adjustments as required.
If you want to get the orthotic process started, simply call β (08) 6269 2038 to book an appointment!
Did you know π€ that we offer semi-custom orthotics as well as fully custom orthotics?
Both sets of orthotics will support biomechanical alignment and provide pain relief for a range of common conditions.
π₯ We sell high-density Vasyli orthotics as our semi-custom option. These are pre-made orthotics that are heat mouldable so that they can be somewhat fitted to your feet. They are also more durable than other over-the-shelf orthotic options, making them last longer. These are ideal for children who's feet grow quickly and patients who are price conscious.
π₯ Our custom orthotics involves a 3D scan of your foot to create orthotics that are specific to your foot type and needs, resulting in better biomechanical alignment, better pain relief and a better fit into footwear. They are also of a higher quality so tend to last much longer than the semi-custom option. These are the ideal option for everyone.
If you think you may benefit from orthotics, book in to have an assessment with one of our podiatrists today. Just call β (08) 6269 2038

Are you suffering from bunions?π€
A bunion is a bony lump that forms at the base of the big toe π¦Ά, usually displaying as a bump to the side of your big toe joint. Smaller bunions can also occur on your little toe.
Bunions are caused by the bones in the toe being pushed out of place and towards your other toes, causing the toe joint to stick out. π It is not always painful, however it can get that way, as well as causing people discomfort when wearing footwear and inhibiting the movement of the toe or foot.
This is normally caused by wearing tight and narrow footwear π₯Ώ, genetic predisposition, having another medical condition such as arthritis or a foot deformity.
Our Podiatrists π©ββοΈ can help with bunions by providing footwear advice and modifications, orthotics, joint mobilisation to improve pain and movement and shaving calluses that build up on the bony bump. Suffering π£ from a painful ingrown toenail? We can help! π
An ingrown toenail is when the toenail digs into and often, pierces, the skin. π This causes pain and can lead to infection. It is usually identified with pain in the area, redness and swelling.
Ingrown toenails are caused by cutting your nails incorrectly (curved), tight-fitting shoes putting pressure on your nails, trauma to your nail, fungal nail infections or just plain genetics! π§¬
Our Podiatrists can remove ingrown toenails and get you back to being pain-free. π If you're suffering from an ingrown toenail, book an appointment to get it fixed on βοΈ (08) 6269 2038
Follow these steps π for easy & safe toenail cutting and prevention of ingrown toenails:
1. Soften the nails by having a bath or shower first
2. Use appropriate toenail clippers
3. Cut the nails straight across, not curved
4. If you have sharp corners, don't be tempted to cut a curve but file them instead
5. Clean your clippers after each use to prevent infection
If you are struggling to reach your toenails, have thickened or discoloured toenails, ingrown toenails or diabetes, it is best to get your nails assessed and cut by a Podiatrist π©ββοΈ. Book an appointment on β (08) 6269 2038
π FACT VS MYTH π
Cutting a 'V' in the centre of your nail fixes an ingrown toenail. π€
This is a myth! π€― Your toenails grow from the base and push outwards, so the end of your toenails cannot change their direction as they are no longer growing. The only way to fix an ingrown toenail is to remove the sides of the nail that are piercing the skin.
Suffering from an ingrown toenail? Book an appointment on βοΈ (08) 6269 2038.
One of our treatment methods for Plantar Warts is SWIFT therapy. SWIFT therapy is a microwave therapy that is highly effective π€© at resolving stubborn warts. During Swift therapy, a process called 'heat shock β‘οΈ' occurs within infected skin cells. This causes the wart to release certain proteins into the circulatory system, allowing the immune system to recognise the infection and begin to fight the virus.
The benefits of SWIFT therapy are:
β
Highly effective - 83% success rate. Higher than any other treatment)
β
Rapid - treatment time is only a few seconds
β
Low maintenance - no need to self-care
β
Efficient - only requires approximately 3 visits
SWIFT therapy is only available at select locations - Balcatta Podiatry, Cambridge Podiatry and Carousel Podiatry. If you are interested in this treatment, call us on βοΈ (08) 6269 2038 and let our receptionists know that you're booking for SWIFT. They can then book you in for the correct appointment and direct you to your closest location. π
π₯ Plantar Warts π₯
Plantar warts are small, rough bumps on the bottom of your feet π¦Ά and are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). They can spread easily and become quite painful. π£ They are often picked up by going barefoot π¦Ά in communal places.
People often get confused π€ between whether or not rough bump on their foot is a corn or a wart. If you have pain when pinching the bump, little black dots in the tissue, bleeding when the top of the bump is removed and it looks rougher and more granular, then it is most likely a wart.
You can prevent plantar warts from developing by keeping your feet clean π§Ό & dry, always wearing shoes π in communal spaces and changing your socks 𧦠daily. If you do have or develop plantar warts, our Podiatrists can shave them off or provide a microwave therapy treatment. To see which treatment method is best for your situation, book an appointment on β (08) 6269 2038.
