Tomorrow is Jeans for Genes Day! 👖

Jeans for Genes research aims to ensure that no child's life is cut short by a genetic disease. Thousands of Australians get involved by wearing jeans and donating to the Children's Medical Research Institute.

We're encouraging all patients, staff, and doctors to take part by wearing denim jeans to raise awareness for these genetic diseases that affect 1 in 20 children 🙏

Today is World Hepatitis Day and we're joining the efforts to make a change 🙌

GPs play an important role in reducing the impact of chronic hepatitis in the community, as they can provide blood tests and identify those living with viral hepatitis 🦠

If you have any concerns regarding hepatitis or other STIs, you can book in with a GP to protect yourself and your family 👨‍👩‍👦

National Diabetes Week runs from 14 July to 20 July, and this year we’re doing our part in raising awareness.

Factors that can increase your risk include:
⚖️ Carrying excess weight
🏃‍♂️ Being physically inactive
🚬 Smoking
🍔 Unhealthy eating
🩸 High blood pressure

If you feel you may be at risk, the best measure is to book a blood test with your GP to assess your situation ✅

This week is NAIDOC Week, a time to honor and celebrate the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to the fabric of Australian society.

At our practice, we are dedicated to overcoming the inequality faced by many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and improving the health conditions of these communities.

Australians aged 45-49 can now request a FREE bowel cancer screening kit and join the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program 🎗️

How does it work?

2️⃣ Australians aged 50-74 will continue to receive their free bowel screening kit in the mail every 2 years.

Over the weekend, we celebrated World Family Doctor Day, honouring the contribution of the family doctors at our practice 👨‍⚕️👨‍👩‍👦👩‍⚕️

A friendly reminder to our patients that our Doctors are in fact family GPs. They are able to administer flu vaccines (for free in the months of May and June), and you don’t need to visit your pharmacy to have these done 🩺

The research team at Perth Children's Hospital are undertaking medical research to help improve care and outcomes for children who come to hospital for surgery 👶🏥

The first part of the study involves a Community Conversation with children between 6 to 18 years of age, being held on 15th of March from 4pm-6pm. It will be held online and participants will be offerred an honorarium of $70 for their participation ✅
