🚨🚨EMERGENCY ACCOMODATION REQUIRED FOR A SINGLE MOTHER WITH 8 KIDS 🚨🚨

A family has escaped DV overseas and has arrived in Perth hoping they can settle down in our beautiful city!

They are Australian Citizens and are temporarily staying in a shed pictured below with no shower or cooking facilities.

I have exhausted all my revenues in finding a secure accommodation for this beautiful family who have no where to go!

I am now reaching out to public to let me know if you have any accommodation that can help this family temporarily until their government housing comes through.

I cannot sleep at night thinking I have got this family that have no where to go and no place to cook and no place to shower with no beds to sleep on 😭 The youngest is a 3 year old 😓Our refuge is full and now I need your help to house this family.

Alternatively if you would like to donate towards a more suitable temporary accommodation (motel) that has showering facilities, please see details below;

🚨🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP 🚨🚨

Tonight we come to you with an open, honest and urgent plea.

We are incredibly proud of the achievements we have made as a community towards supporting so many ladies, children and families so far. Without your ongoing support we would not be able to continue to provide this assistance and support and change so many lives.

With the cost of living crisis, domestic violence and single motherhood more prevalent, our case loads and clients have increased.

Tonight alone, we have had 2 emergency calls for ladies and their children living in motels, in unpredictable and unsafe situations.

With the refuge being a massive accomplishment for our community, it enables us to house women and their children in their most dire and crucial times. However it also comes with ongoing costs. A large amount of our funding goes towards the running costs of the property, this entails; rent, bills, food, training programs, transport, medical costs and additional services.

As the property is incredibly large to enable us to house many individuals, we have a lot of expenses to cover.

Sisters Hand in Hand is completely volunteer run and takes no profit. Our funding goes towards fuel vouchers, medical costs, shopping, rent and bill payments and any other urgent expenses needed for those most in need in the refuge and also our every day clients outside of the refuge who are not eligible for government funding or for those who receive very little.

We come to you tonight to sincerely ask for your ongoing support. Sisters Hand in Hand needs your donations to continue to provide much needed financial and accommodation assistance.

Without the community, we cannot provide a safe home, transport, food services and education training to the ladies and children we are working with.

If you would like to support the work we do and be a one off or ongoing donor, please see details below;

🚨🚨 NEW CASE 🚨🚨

We received a call today from the social work department about an Aunty currently in hospital.

After attending the meeting with them and getting all the information it was time to meet her.

As we walked into the hospital room her face lit up. It was the look of relief, companionship and hope. Sitting with her, listening to her story as the day turned to night you couldnt help but feel a sense of emptiness alongside her.

She had lost her husband many years ago and carried on living in Australia without him. As they had no children and no family here she was left to continue life alone.

3 weeks ago she was working full time at her place of employment, when she was struck with an illness that lead to an emergency surgery.

Up until this point she had been living paycheck to paycheck due to the cost of living crisis and has no savings, no annual leave or sick leave to rely on.

She is currently three weeks in arrears with her rent and is days away from leaving the hospital.

We would really like to cover her rent bill to give her piece of mind when she returns home.

Aunty will be receiving Centrelink benefits within the next few weeks as they have fast tracked her application, however until then she will have no money coming in.

Once her date to leave the hospital has been finalised, we will arrange a food roster for her and a visitation schedule for those who would like to visit her.

If you would like to contribute, please see details below;

✨✨ CASE UPDATE - Miss Positivity ✨✨

We are playing catch up with all of our previous cases. This case update is a beautiful one 🥰

Miss Positivity was only with us for a couple of weeks before transitioning into her own home with her children, but those couple of weeks were memorable and humbling. She was a woman with a heavy story but a woman determined to RISE 🤩

Her story was full of pain, abandonment and struggle but she didn't let that bring her down, stop her from fighting for her children or doing everything she could to secure a better future for them.

All of our AMAZING community members came through with toys, clothes, bedding, furniture, shopping, cooked meals, monetary donations which enabled us to purchase a $200 shopping voucher and purchase a few more items that had not been covered and many other offers of support.

Miss Positivity has made us all so proud for all her hard work and dedication but it is also a massive testament to all of YOU! Why?

Without the community, without all of your support for EVERY SINGLE CASE we post, these ladies wouldn't have the support they do. The offers of friendship and visits, the home cooked meals, the physical and monetary donations, the shopping dropped off, building their support network and cultural reach back up, offers of babysitting, school pick ups and drop offs and so much more! Without all of you it would not be possible.

Miss Positivity was BEYOND grateful, from being completely isolated and constantly told no one cared about her, to her abuser being proven completely WRONG and everyone running to her aid shocked her to her core! Tears of joy ran heavy the day we dropped everything off.

THANK YOU EVERYONE!! 🤩🤩

✨✨ Mother in need of support ✨✨

We have a young single mother of 3 in a really tight place financially and mentally and going through many of life's tests and hardships. Recently being left to raise her children alone with no financial support from the father and the stress of the current financial crisis has put her into a really dark place.

She has no family support with no one to lean on or help lessen the load and like so many families is struggling to make ends meet while grieving the pain of her situation all alone.

Her gas bill is significantly overdue and unfortunately is not her only bill in arrears. While she is on a payment plan with her other bills we would really like to get this bill paid to help her get back on her feet and to avoid her situation getting worse.

Her middle child was recently admitted into hospital with ongoing stable but serious health issues which cost extra fuel, parking fees and food that she wasn't anticipating having to spend.

After she pays for her rent, medicine, food and her bills are debited from her account she hasn't got much money leftover.

If you would like to help ease the load of this mother, please see details below;

We are also putting together a food hamper for her and her children to take off the load for school snacks and dinner ingredients, which will also be ongoing. If you would like to contribute food, drop off is to our drop off point in Thornlie.

Thank you all in advance!!

✨ Can you spare a cup of coffee? ✨

For the remaining days of July, we ask you to join us by donating the equivalent of a cup of coffee towards our women and children's refuge.

We are needing the equivalent of 1000 cups of coffee donated, in order for us to cover ongoing facility running costs.

Once you have donated your cup of $5, we will add it to the tally to see how quickly we can reach the 1000 cups this end of July.

Please join us and make an impact bigger than a large cup of coffee in the morning after a sleepless night ☕

✨✨ JOIN THE TEAM ✨✨

We are seeking amazing individuals with different backgrounds, careers, knowledge and experience!

As our work is expanding it is only fitting our team does too!

We are seeking individuals to join the team that nurture the holistic, hands on approach we have created from the very beginning. Individuals that have a strong passion for community work, changing the lives of people and creating fulfilling and vital opportunities for those most in need.

❓ What are we looking for? ❓

We are seeking both male and females that believe they can contribute a positive change through their work. This can be achieved through varied attributes, skills and knowledge.

The right individuals will be those who understand the journey through life is never straight and are the guides on the side of the path that redirect those who get lost.

As our approach has always been holistic and hands on, it is VITAL to us that any new addition understands this and nurtures that through their work as well.

❓What can you expect from us? ❓

You would be entering a team that works incredibly hard for their clients but also each other. A team that directs their focus to the solution based approach to issues at hand and out of the box thinking that enables us to relate to individuals on a varied platform best suited to individualised support.

We believe that working together alongside community members, other organisations and businesses will always be the best approach. A team is a group, it is a family, it is the whole COMMUNITY. When you join us, you become another very important link to the community chain.

Please reach out if this sounds like you or share with someone who you think would be a PERFECT fit! 🤩

✨✨ WIDOWED SINGLE MOTHER✨✨

We have a single mother who is going through a financially difficult time.

She had to break her lease and move due to financial difficulty and was unable to pay out the $1500 in rent payments for the outstanding 3 weeks she was no longer in the property. This is also due to the agent promising to have someone in the home within days of her moving and not coming through until 3 weeks later with a new tenant.

The real estate agent is calling her almost everyday demanding the payments and she is becoming sick with stress trying to find a way to come up with the funds.

She was incredibly proud that she hadn't had to take out any loan since the passing of her husband but has since had to take out a loan with Centrelink to be able to afford food for herself and her children. The current inflation is putting many families in this position and is nothing to be ashamed of.

Currently we are needing to raise the outstanding amount for the real estate - outstanding rental payments and she is in need of food and food vouchers. The food vouchers and donations of food shopping will take the financial strain off of her to then be able to arrange payment plans for her bills that is an affordable amount and will not be putting her in any further strain.

If you would like to drop off food vouchers and food to her home, she is located in Thornlie, please message for her address.

If you would like to assist with the outstanding rental payments, please see details below;

🎉🎉 CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉

When we opened the refuge our goal was to create a space that not only sheltered women and their children but gave them a safe space to heal, rebuild and thrive in. We knew that each woman would require different things and their lengths of stay would vary based on many factors.

While we are still finalising things within the property and within the last few rooms it was imperative that we opened the doors to begin to house women most in need.

Miss Positivity (name changed for privacy reasons) was only with us for a short period of 2.5 weeks. One of the first to bless the house with her presence. The time was short but she radiated positivity throughout the house (hence her nickname).

When she arrived, she made it very clear she was adamant that she would secure a property for herself and her children and wouldn't be with us long. A house to call a home - that she did!

She made every call possible, worked with our team and went to every home open she found. It was because of her determination and hard work she secured HER HOME!

As she is preparing to leave the refuge, she is leaving with only the bags she entered with. Attached are photos of the only bed she managed to keep from her previous rental and an empty room (selective photos due to her safety).

She is currently in need of everything to set a home up. Bunk beds, mattresses queen bed and mattress, bedding, heaters, towels, kitchen items, rugs, decor for her children's rooms (boys and girls accessories from ages 2 years to 14 years), pillows, toys etc. (Please feel free to message with items you would like to donate and we can assess the list as we tick items off).

She is also in need of a large food shop, hygiene products and food vouchers as all of her saved funds went to her rent and bond for the new house.

If you can assist with any of the above, please send us a message to arrange or see details below;

🚨🚨 NEW CASE - AUNTY IN NEED🚨🚨

This case cannot miss your heart if you have a Grandmother, Mother or Aunty. It hits you like a tonne of bricks thinking of your loved one in this position.

Today we walked into the home of an Aunty who is visibly unwell and in need of serious support.

The property was freezing, feeling more like a house with bits and pieces rather than a home. When you walked through the house it was cold and empty, the only things occupying it were broken furniture and bits and pieces that really didn't belong.

After sitting with her and hearing her story, it became apparent that this Aunty not only needed serious assistance but long term support to put her on track after years and years of neglect.

She has long term medical conditions from strokes and surgeries that prevent her from taking care of herself in any way. It is her son that supports her for almost everything including showering 😭

A friend drops in to give her meals when the fridge is empty - which is more often than not.

She has had to resort to washing her clothing with dishwashing liquid that was given to her as she has no washing powder.

Every item in her home was once donated and now falling apart, the washing machine does not drain water, the fridge goes on and off, she is sleeping on a broken lounge or on the floor of an empty room and the floor is stone cold without rugs or carpet.

We are needing assistance to support this Aunty and get her fully equipped in her home including the warmth of bedding as winter is approaching.

She is being supported to get onto Disability payments and NDIS but while that is in the process she has only got $70 leftover every fortnight to purchase food and medicine.

We need the following furniture items for her and would like to purchase a large food shop and food and chemist vouchers for her to get her back on her feet while she waits for disability support to step in.

If you would like to assist this Aunty, please send us a message or see details below;

🏡🏡 REFUGE UPDATE 🏡🏡

It has been a beautifully long and strenuous more than 4 weeks, as we have been putting every ounce of time and effort into finalising the 4 phase plan, to get the initial plans and meetings off the ground to have a refuge for ladies and children to call home 🤩

Our dream to have a property that isn't just a refuge in terms of safety, but a home in terms of atmosphere, support and upliftment is being built before our eyes and we couldn't be more proud and grateful.

This journey has not come without every ounce of determination and push from everyone involved and we are so proud of all of the members that are on this journey with us.

This refuge is not for a few people, this refuge is for OUR COMMUNITY and it is that same community that single handedly are donating, supporting and offering all their assistance, to create something so monumentally needed.

We have completed Phase 1, 2 (we are still accepting donations for the final few areas and for ongoing cases and back ups for the refuge) and are now on Phase 3.

Phase 3 - We are working with a security company that has established a top of the line, full coverage security system that enables us to keep the entire property secure. This is vital to the safety of all occupants and employees on site.

OHS requirements and safety plans are being assessed and established by an OHS Officer to keep the property within the guidelines of safe work practices and living arrangements.

With the seriousness and danger that can be linked to these situations, we will never cut corners or compromise the safety and security these women and children rely heavily on. Therefore the security system is top of the line and comes with a higher price tag.

We have been blessed to have an electrician who will be reducing their costs greatly for the cause and to enable us to get the system in as soon as possible.

If you would like to contribute to the purchasing and installation, please see details below;

Sisters Hand in Hand

We cannot thank you enough and express to you how incredibly needed this refuge is. This is a moment in time that will be the stepping stones for future women and children 🤩

🚨🚨 NEW CASE - A home for a family in need 🚨🚨

The work does not stop for those most in need.

We have a mother of 3 children who has no family support. Her ex husband leaving them behind to start a new life and family after leaving her battered and bruised - another case of FDV, leaving our sister behind to pick up the pieces and stand strong for her children.

We have managed to secure her a property after months and months of her couch surfing or sleeping in her car!
We cannot let this opportunity leave her and her children as she has struggled for months to get here!

We are needing to cover her move in costs ($1,200) and essentials for the home, we have secured her furniture through YOUR donations and just need to secure the payment and a few more items listed below for her and her children.

If you would like to donate the following items or would like to contribute to her moving costs ($1,200) please see details below:

❗❗ REFUGE UPDATE #3 ❗❗

We are so close to reaching our goal and it is all because of the support you have given us!

With only $2,590 left to raise, we are tiptoeing towards the finish line!

With the rain this evening, it reminds us even more of the importance of ensuring these ladies a safe, warm shelter for the coming winter nights!

Calls are coming in every single day, including heartbreaking situations where women are sleeping in their cars with their children. We cannot emphasise enough how BEYOND crucial it is to secure this property!

We dream of being able to create a safe and nurturing facitility for these women to recover, heal and get back on their feet. But our hands are tied until we can make the final payment

We cannot do this without you! Our goal is to be able to have the final payment made by Monday, and be able to share the joy with all of you for the next stages!

⭐⭐⭐ CASE UPDATE ⭐⭐⭐

We had a single mother of 3 children escaping DV with nothing but a small bag for each of them.

We firstly would like to thank the Perth ICAN community organisation that donated a large sum of money and items for this case and family. Your support for our clients is immense and we are incredibly grateful for all your members and the support you continue to give Sisters Hand in Hand 🤲🤩

Along with ICAN, YOU ALL - The amazing community members that donated funds and items made it possible for us to do the following;

⭐ Paid 3 weeks rent to get them back on track and ahead.

⭐ Did a large food shop for them as well as dropped off further food shopping done by community members.

⭐ The children each got a bag of brand new clothing.

⭐ Members of the community donated more clothing for the children.

⭐ Mum got some new clothing, scarves and undercaps.

⭐ We gifted all of the children belated Eid Gifts (which they LOVED)!

Each day that a new client comes to us, it is with helplessness and pain, once we complete their assessment and create their action plan it is YOU ALL that make it possible to get them back on track and smiling again.

Every single post share, prayer, financial donations, item donations, food roster meal cooked, social visit, mentorship, professional advice and support and overall support makes ALL THIS WORK POSSIBLE!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! 🤲🎉
