Obi came in for a big surgery - a cruciate TPLO repair. Here he is post-operatively on his special analgesia infusion with his very special toy mate - Mr TRex - who will be keeping him company in hospital.

Swipe for a very satisfying before and after from a recent scale and polish

Dental health in pets - at Drovers Vet we place a large emphasis on dental health in your pets. It is the most important thing you can do to extend your pets life! We offer free dental checks and stage our dental treatments to provide the safest approach for anaesthesia as most of these take time. Dental xrays are performed on EVERY patient and a full score and charting is done of each tooth. Here you can see Dr Amy doing dental.xrays and a before and after picture once a dental ultrasonic scale and polish has been done.

It is with heavy sad hearts we said farewell to Alison last week. Alison has been part of our admin team for a few years and we are going to miss her organisational skills, dedication and hard work ethic a lot. All of us here at Drovers Vet wish you all the best as you embark on a new journey as you move to Victoria.

All creatures great and small! Snowball the ferret had eaten some of her bedding and it had caused an obstruction in her small intestine that required urgent attention. Dr Wayne performed the delicate emergency surgery to remove the obstruction and we are happy to say that Snowball has made a full recovery. Smaller patients have unique anaeathetic needs and at Drovers Vet we are well equipped to meet these. Even our pocket pet patients are connected up to an ECG and oxygen monitor and special care is given to providing warmth during and after surgery.

Fractures!!
Not every broken bone is the same! We have seen a few fracture cases at Drovers Vet lately. Did you know that each fracture is classified and assessed according to a number of criteria? Our orthopaedic vets then put together this assessment and discuss how best to approach repair. Our pets do not get a set of crutches to help them so whatever we do to repair the fracture has to withstand a lot of pressure and bending etc. In most cases we use very special plates (called locking plates) that provide excellent stability and strength. Here are some pictures of the repairs our vets have done the last month from a 40kg patient all the way down to a very tiny 3kg patient!

Meet Snowball the 5 month old ferret. Snowball recently had surgery with us because he ate some of his bedding!

Once snowball recovered he was back to his cheeky self playing in the cage. He also loved all the attention and cuddles from the team here at Drovers🥰
