Everyone deserves the basic human rights of adequate and safe health care.
We are so lucky to live in the country we do, with the access to healthcare we have ❤️
Help Healthy North Coast by filling out their health survey which will help in the delivery of better health care to our community.

Today is World Health Day.

For us here at Healthy North Coast the day is a reminder of our focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of health services for everyone on the North Coast, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes.

It also reinforces our commitment to improving the coordination of health services, and increasing access and quality support for people.

This year’s theme for World Health Day is ‘My Health… My Right’.
This theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination.

🏆 Rising Star in Wound Care 🏆

A huge congratulations to our Clinical Nurse Specialist, Molly who was awarded the International Rising Star in Wound Care award through ActivHeal.
Molly has achieved many wonderful accomplishments in her career and brings so much to wound care and lymphoedema patients across the Mid North Coast.
Thank you to Phil & Caitlin from Team Medical who so thoughtfully personally delivered her beautiful prizes.

New beach mobility aids making our beaches more accessible. Kempsey Shire Council and the Macleay Disability Inclusion Group are pleased to announce the launch of a new beach mobility aid trial, designed to enhance beach access for those across the Shire with limited mobility.

We celebrate our lymphoedema patients everyday, but more so this week. This week we will take time to raise awareness to Lymphoedema and what it means for so many.
We have a very proud team of ALA accredited of lymphoedema practitioners 💜

Today marks the start of Lymphoedema Awareness Week (4-10 March), a chance to raise awareness of lymphoedema to promote early intervention - our best chance of appropriate management of this chronic condition and improved quality of life.

The theme this year is KNOW YOUR RISK, KNOW YOUR RESPONSE!

This year it’s all about knowing your body. Its actions and reactions in regards to diabetes.
Did you know that 1 in 10 adults worldwide have diabetes?
Over 90% have type 2 diabetes. Close to half are not yet diagnosed. In many cases, type 2 diabetes and its complications can be delayed or prevented by adopting and maintaining healthy habits. Knowing your risk and what to do is important to support prevention, early diagnosis and timely treatment.

We care for many diabetes within our Wound Care Clinic and through our community based teams, and you guys inspire us to be healthier, more vigilant and more pro-active with our health every day 🩵

It's World Diabetes Day 2023!

And the theme this year is “Know your risk, know your response”, encouraging people to know their risk level and what to do to support prevention, early diagnosis and timely treatment. 1 in 10 adults worldwide have diabetes and recent research has highlighted the true global burden of diabetes-related foot disease. It's estimated that DFD causes around 2.6% of the entire global disability health burden, placing it as the 10th leading cause of the global disability burden, and making up around 60% of the global diabetes disability burden.

Today, we reflect in honour of Vale Prof Justin Yerbury AM.

Justin was a true giant in the MND community. A world-leading researcher and inspiring MND warrior who worked tirelessly in the search for answers to beat the Beast that is MND. We are deeply saddened by his passing and incredibly grateful for the enormous contribution that Justin has made in the fight against MND.

These guys are awesome!

Each week Cristy has gained confidence and safety skills when using the sewing machine - she even had straighter lines than me!

A big well done to Kenny who smashed his goal of sewing an IPad cover from scratch.
Our sewing classes are fun sessions where our participants can help pick a project and achieve anything they choose.
Kens fine motor skills got lots of work this week! He tried super hard and was able to cut, pin and sew every part himself.
Next week we are practicing sewing buttons on, fixing zippers, mending hems and taking clothes in.
We are so proud of you Ken! 🥳🥳🥳

Port Macquarie Disability & Nursing Services is proud to announce we are now a Registered NDIS Provider. We can now officially provide our services to all NDIS participants, including those whose funding is agency managed.

Making the decision to apply for the higher level of certification over verification has been a real test of patience, with the whole process taking over 18 months.

We are now a certified provider which enables greater choice and control to participants we haven’t been able to support - until now! 🥳

We are looking forward to providing our Registered Nursing and High Intensity Disability Supports to all NDIA managed, plan managed & self managed participants.

Kenny finished off his masterpiece today which he has learned some different painting skills - awesome job Ken!
Then Kayla, Ken & Linda started their Easter gifts.
Beautiful handmade Easter cards were made while learning how to blend watercolours 😍
And our no 1 pottery master, Deb made some awesome handmade beads and ceramic shapes
