UNSW graduation dreams come true! 🎓

Indonesian international student Axel Librata first visited UNSW in 2012 at just 11 years of age. Ever since that first visit, Axel dreamed of living and studying in New South Wales. Flash forward 12 years and he has just graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Commerce. We feel so privileged to share these before and after images with you of Axel from 2012 to present day.

Many thanks to Nur Fatmah Syarbini (Country Director, Indonesia - UNSW) for sharing this beautiful story. So lovely to see! Congratulations Axel!

Study NSW was pleased to host the Indonesian education agents and local school counsellors in Yogyakarta recently!

Located on the island of Java, Yogyakarta is a city that's rich in traditional Indonesian arts and cultural heritage. Education agents are the frontline contributors to the sector and it's wonderful to witness them engaging in explorative discussions, and striving for new ways to innovate and collaborate within the international education sector.

Whale, hello there! 👋 🐋✨

Each year from May to November, more than 40,000 humpback and southern right whales make their way along Sydney’s coastline in their annual migration from Antarctica to the warmer waters of the Pacific.

June is peak whale watching season and humpback whales are passing Sydney as we speak on their northern migration from Antarctic waters. In NSW, it’s common to see humpback whales, southern right whales and dolphins, but you may also spot orcas, blue whales, minke whales and s***m whales.

Cape Solander in Kamay Botany Bay National Park, the cliff-top walking trails from Bondi to Coogee and the Federation Cliff Walk from Dover Heights to Watsons Bay are excellent vantage points where you can see these giants of the deep at play. Alternately you can jump on the ferry to Manly for the North Head lookout, where whales can often be spotted, or head further north to Bangalley Head at Avalon Beach and Barrenjoey Lighthouse at Palm Beach, which are fantastic day trips with walking trials and spectacular views.

If you want to get even closer to these majestic creatures, then hop aboard a whale-watching cruise, which depart daily from Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and Manly.

For more info and to lock in your whale watching adventure with friends, head on over to:

Keen to go exploring this weekend? Do you know the best places to see NSW's autumn colours? 🍂🍁

The Blue Mountains, Wildwood Garden (Bilpin), the Hunter Valley region, Mayfield Garden (Oberon), New England, Orange and The Snowy Valleys are but a few destinations where you can explore the mountains, valleys and parklands scattered with beautiful red and orange leaves.

Autumn is a seriously colourful event across the state of New South Wales and all of these destinations are a short drive away from many of the state's universities and educational institutions.

Hop in your autumn-mobile this weekend and head on out to explore NSW:

As we mourn the loss of those who lost their lives in the tragic events at Bondi Junction over the weekend, the University of Sydney welcomes all members of the extended education community, students of other universities and residents to join them in commemoration on campus.

In the face of such a senseless loss, coming together as a community can provide some comfort to one another.

From now until Saturday 20th April, the University of Sydney will host a memorial site in front of the University Quadrangle near the Great Hall with the opportunity for you to bring flowers and cards to pay your respects.

The family have asked that no other identifying messages or photos be placed at the memorial, and we sincerely ask that this wish be respected.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! ❤️

In honour of the romantic holiday, we’ve got another special international student love story for you – introducing our very own Project Officer Thomson Ch'ng and his wife, Ivy Chung!

Both hailing from Malaysia, the duo first met back in March 2013 at Sydney Town Hall, where Thomson was the project coordinator for the Council of International Students Australia’s international student employability forum, delivered in partnership with the City of Sydney. Ivy was the coordinator who organised and led a group of international students from CQUniversity Australia to attend the forum.

Both are former international students with similar aspirations, goals and interests. They enjoy sampling the different multicultural cuisines Sydney has to offer, exploring the NSW’s beautiful natural parks and above all, they are passionate about empowering and supporting young people, including international students.

They were married on 19 January, 2020. 🥰

Hope you’re all having a lovely day full of hearts, flowers and most especially chocolate! 💝💐🍫

Located at the International Arrivals Hall of Sydney Airport, the International Student Welcome Desk has greeted thousands of students over the years.

It’s a friendly resource where new arrivals can get guidance on transport, accommodation, maps and general advice.

Dark academia vibes at University of Sydney. 🏰🦇

The gothic revival architecture of Australia's oldest university is embellished with 100-year old hand-carved gargoyles and grotesques, fine metalwork and sandstone masonry.

Today the University of Sydney stands at #19 worldwide in the QS World University Rankings with modern state-of-the-art research facilities, world-class teaching and a vibrant campus life.
