Beyond Purpose Therapy

A healing way to help you achieve your goals and the life you have always wanted.

20/08/2024

Celebrate with me 5year anniversary.

Back in 2019, I had a dream to open my own private practice to provide trauma-informed holistic interventions, that transformed and healed lives.

As the founder of Beyond Purpose Therapy, I have worked tirelessly to improve my evidence-based interventions, I have prioritised personal development and have become addicted to workplace learning. I have devoted to my dream of creating humanist mental health care.

I have faced challenges, I have experienced first hand analysis paralysis, and have had to battle with imposter syndrome leading to overcompensation through the years.

Fast forward to August 2024, I can wholeheartedly say that I have become the mental health therapist I wanted to become, I am a thought leader and mental health advocate that truly cares about client care.

Celebrate with me the fact that I overcame the obstacles young mental health social workers face. I overcame the migrant mentality to work a 9-5 job, I overcame the isolating journey of being your own biggest fan, I overcame the limitations that chronic pain has on your career, I overcame the voice inside me that said I was not good enough. I overcame the stigma that young strong and driven women face.

I share this with you to remind you that your dream was a gift sent to you because a higher force believes you are capable. Dreams require sacrifices, hard work and determination but they are worth it. They take time but if you start today, you are already 10 steps ahead.

Go and peruse your dream and become your biggest fan, the rest will follow.

What is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) affects how the brain manages tasks, focus, and energy levels. People with ADHD often have trouble staying organised and following through on plans.

What is ADHD Burnout?
ADHD burnout happens when managing ADHD becomes overwhelming. It’s not just feeling tired—it’s being completely drained because your brain is working overtime.

What Does ADHD Burnout Look Like?

Emotional Overload:Feeling frustrated or anxious because small tasks feel huge.

Brain Fog: Trouble focusing, forgetfulness, or feeling mentally stuck.

Physical Exhaustion: Constant tiredness from pushing yourself too hard.

Task Avoidance: Procrastinating because starting tasks feels impossible.

Self-Criticism: Feeling like you’re not doing enough, even when you’re trying your hardest.

ADHD burnout is real, and it’s okay to need a break. If this sounds like you, take time to recharge and consider reaching out for help. 🌟

I AM OBSESSED WITH LEARNING 🤓

The last couple of days have been all about breaking health limitations.

My biggest drive to put myself through it all is and will always be for my clients. The more I learn, the more I have to give. The more insight and updated knowledge I can share.

My investment to learning is driven by the pure fact that I want to give the best of myself and learn from the best. No better person than to learn from who has been committed to transforming lives for over 40years.

A recap of the last few days

- 2am ice bath to train my mind and body that I am in control
- Daily lemon water upon waking
- Daily celery juice
- Ultimate detox and cleanse by only consuming fruit and vegetables that will help to revitalise my organs
- 12am wake up’s and 12pm finish (turning days into nights) due to the time difference
- No sugars, no processed foods, no caffeine
- Bouncing to facilitate lympathic drainage
- Limiting social media
- Learning, taking notes, practicing
- Setting new health and fitness goals
- Releasing old limiting beliefs on health & fitness
- Most importantly connecting with my body and how truly blessed I am to be movile, independent and have all my body parts fully functioning.

Today I want to ask you….

When was the last time you did an audit of your body and how incredibly lucky you are to have what you have? To be able to shower independently, eat, walk, breathe?

Let me remind you today how lucky you are.

Coping after a critical incident has occurred.

Dealing with a critical incident can be overwhelming, but remember, you’re not alone. Here are some tips to help you cope:

1. Reach out for support: Talk to friends, family, or a professional therapist who can provide comfort and guidance.

2. Take care of yourself: Practice self-care activities like exercise, meditation, or engaging in hobbies you enjoy
3. Allow yourself to feel: It’s okay to experience a range of emotions. Allow yourself to process and express them in a healthy way.

4. Establish routines: Structure can provide stability during difficult times. Stick to a routine to maintain a sense of normalcy.

5. Limit exposure to media: Constantly watching or reading about the incident can increase stress. Take breaks from media consumption.

6. Seek professional help if needed: If you’re struggling to cope, don’t hesitate to reach out to a mental health professional for additional support.

Remember, healing takes time, so be patient with yourself. 🤍

Support my 25km walk for Sick Kids ❤️🙏🏽

On Sunday 24 March, I’m walking 25km for seriously ill and injured children and their families.

For sick kids staying at Ronald McDonald House, they just want their families close as they battle childhood diseases, illnesses and injuries.

On average, it costs $160 to support a sick child and their family for one night.

Please support my 25km walk to keep families together as they face the most difficult journey of their lives.

Together, we can show these brave kids that we’re fighting for them.

Thank you for your donation and support.

With love

5 PILLARS TO BURNOUT RECOVERY

Feeling burnt out and don’t know where to start? 👇🏾

While the specific steps can vary based on personal experiences and approaches, I'll provide a general framework you can start following today.

1. Self-Reflection and Awareness:
Begin by reflecting on your current state, acknowledging the signs of burnout, and understanding the factors contributing to it. This step involves cultivating self-awareness about your emotions, physical well-being, and the external pressures impacting your life.

2. Establishing Boundaries and Prioritizing Self-Care:
Define clear boundaries between work and personal life. Prioritize self-care practices that nurture your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. This may include setting realistic work hours, incorporating relaxation techniques, and dedicating time to activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

3. Seeking Support and Professional Guidance:
Recognize the importance of seeking support from friends, family, or colleagues. Additionally, consider consulting with a mental health professional or coach who can provide tailored guidance. Building a support network is crucial in navigating the challenges of burnout and fostering a sense of connection.

4. Implementing Sustainable Changes: Take concrete steps to implement sustainable changes in both your personal and professional life. This could involve adjusting work routines, setting realistic goals, and incorporating long-term strategies for stress management. The goal is to create a balanced and fulfilling life that aligns with your values and aspirations.

5. Set new standards for yourself. Success doesn’t have to come at the cost of your health or your relationships. Start evaluating where you are investing your time and if the people in your life respect your new standards.

The Silent Epidemic: Burnout!

Burnout is a pervasive issue that affects individuals across various professions and walks of life. It often creeps in quietly, and its impact can be profound. As a mental health practitioner and a high achiever myself, I initially failed to recognize the early warning signs. I was so dedicated to my career that I neglected my own well-being.

It wasn't until I hit a breaking point that I realized the devastating effects of burnout. The emotional exhaustion, constant fatigue, and the disconnection I felt from my work were overwhelming. It was a turning point for me when I heard from my doctor that I was not only burnt out but also on the verge of becoming diabetic and obese. My health had taken a backseat to my ambition, and I had lost the spark in my eyes.

I embarked on a journey to recover from burnout and discovered that stress was a leading cause of not only burnout but also physical illnesses, broken relationships, soul disconnections, and poor self-esteem. The impact was far-reaching, affecting not only my professional life but also my health and personal relationships.

This realization was a catalyst for me to dive deep into burnout recovery and eventually create my pilot project to help high achievers break the cycle of burnout and find a healthier rhythm in their lives. I want others to avoid the pitfalls I faced and understand the profound impact that burnout can have. By sharing my story and insights, I hope to empower individuals to prioritize their well-being, prevent burnout, and achieve success without sacrificing their health and relationships.

Don't let burnout control your life. Learn how to break free.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 🌎

Today we stand together as a global community to raise awareness for MENTAL HEALTH.

Truth is, we all at one point or another struggle with our mental health. Let’s remove the stigma and bring compassion to those who are suffering with their mental health.

The strongest person in the room can often be the one struggling the most. The funniest person can be the one that feels the loneliest. The bully can be the one needing love the most. Don’t forget most of us are wearing a mask we know nothing about.

Be kind, today and everyday. ✌🏽

VAMPIRE THERAPIST !

Over the years I have proudly become known as the vampire therapist. Why? Because every client I see..I recommend them to check their internal health (blood test) as part of my clinical assessment.

Through personal experience and working in the mental health sector for many years I have learnt and observed how we often separate physical health from mental health.

Our body is always communicating to us, it is us who choose to ignore the warning signs.

My tip for you is to get a blood test once a year to check how your internal health is tracking. Speak to your GP and book your blood test today!

Remember, Body & Mind are ONE ✌🏽

YOU ARE NOT ALONE 🧡

This year I decided to raise funds for lifeline and call my team You are not alone.

In the busyness of trying to raise funds for an important cause I failed to acknowledge the emotional turmoil that I was experiencing.

Talking about su***de is difficult for many people. I am no different. Having lived experience of what it feels to lose a loved one to su***de and working in a field that requires me to be alert to risk at all times, I failed to give space for my own emotions.

The sad truth is that su***de leaves us with many unanswered questions. Emotional triggers that we may not see coming. Reminders of the person we lost. Grief and loss that never ends. Overtime we learn to manage it better but the pain & shock remains.

My heart is with all the families and friends and colleagues and communities that have lost someone to su***de.

It’s time for us to come together and raise awareness 🤝🤝

Together we can ensure that no one has to face their darkest moment alone -

THE 4 PILLARS OF WELL-BEING

The most effective way to manage stress is looking after the 4 pillars of mental well-being.

Whilst working as a corporate counsellor I learnt that many workplace presentations had similarities. Employees too mentally exhausted to look after the basic foundations of well-being.

The real epidemic our society is battling is the illusion that hard work means no boundaries, no work-life balance, prioritising work over family.

If you are currently feeling physically, emotionally and mentally depleted, it’s time to make a change.

Tip: focus on improving one pillar at a time and remember you are doing your best every single day.

DISCOVER THE POWER OF PAUSE

I am extremely excited and wholeheartedly happy to launch my guided journal, crafted with so much love and dedication for the modern women of today.

Pause was created with the idea to support busy women to learn HOW to slow down and embrace tranquility. Often we are told to journal without knowing exactly how or where to start.

I personally struggled with the idea of stopping and putting my thoughts down on paper when my automatic response was to thrive and succeed. Overtime, I have learnt to give myself permission to pause and reflect while letting go of the idea that a modern woman can’t surrender and pause.

Let me guide you on a journey to self-acceptance and daily pause.

With love,

Pam xo

I had the pleasure of opening the room at the Mind and Money event over the weekend 🧠💰

Raising awareness on how important it is to remove the taboo around talking about money and challenging money mindset limiting beliefs.

Often our money struggles are rooted on the way we think about money and our behaviour that reinforces that belief.

Many people are suffering in silence when it comes to financial stressors because they are too embarrassed to ask for help or they don’t know where to go to learn the skills.

I want to remind you that you are not alone and there is no shame in asking for help.

Let’s talk money, let’s learn together 🙌🏽
