Consulate General of Malta in Sydney

It was a pleasure for Consul-General of Nalta and Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar, to meet the new Consul-General of Switzerland in Sydney, Mrs Elizabeth Boesch Malinen. During this courtesy call, the Consuls General discussed matters related to the Consular Corps in Sydney and spoke about their respective countries and economies.

They look forward to mutually strengthening Malta-Swiss ties and build upon existing excellent relationship of both Consulates-General in Sydney.

Mr Lawrence Buhagiar Consul-General of Malta in Sydney was delighted to meet and welcoming the new Danish Ambassador to Australia in Sydney.

Ambassador Ingrid Dahl-Madsen has been in Australia from 1st August and is looking forward to cooperating with colleague Ulrik Friis Dahl and the Royal Danish Consulate General in NSW in matters related to the People, the Planet, and Business & Trade.

As Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney, Mr Buhagiar wished them the best of cooperation and success in fulfilling their country's mission statement.

An honour for Mr Lawrence Buhagiar, Consul-General of Malta in Sydney to present the Maltese Citizenship Certificate to 28 recipients during the second Maltese Citizenship Award Ceremony in the state of NSW, this time round held at the Hamrun Maltese Club.

Malta is thankful to the Consular staff at our Consulate-General of Malta in Sydney, the Hamrun Maltese Club and the NSW Maltese Community Council for their assistance in making this event a successful one.

As Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar Consul-General of Malta attended an event to celebrate the 10th year Anniversary of the Slovenian-Australian Chamber of Commerce and the historic signing of a Tax Treaty between Slovenia and the Commonwealth of Australia. As a Maltese Diplomat, Mr Buhagiar is proud that Malta had signed the Double Taxation Treaty simikar to this in 1984, 40 years back. We now look forward to Australia signing the Free Trade Agreement with the EU.

Mr Lawrence Buhagiar Consul-General of the Republic of Malta and and as Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney, is deeply honoured and committed to fulfilling his responsibilities with dedication and pride.

The Consul-General's goal remains to provide the highest level of public service to the Maltese community in New South Wales and serve his colleagues of the Consular Corps with leadership and integrity.

It was a pleasure for him to meet Mr. Joseph Abdilla and his father Alfred this morning. It came to a surprise to learn that they appreciate the efforts the Consul-General and his team put forth at the Consulate.

The Consul-General of Malta, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar representing Malta with signing the Book of Condolences on the demise of H.E. Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam who passed away on 19 July 2024.

Mr Buhagiar and colleague Thang Nguyen, Consul-General of Vietnam, agree that the leadership and contribution of the General Secretary Phu Trong will be remembered for generations to come.

Mr Lawrence Buhagiar, Consul-General of Malta in NSW was honoured to attend the National Day reception of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Sydney. It is always a pleasure for our Consul-General to meet with colleague, His Excellency Mohammed Mohamed Khalil, Consul-General of Egypt.

In the past years, the Consuls General of Malta in Sydney have built a long-standing relationship with the Egyptian Consuls General and one looks forward to build upon existing excellent relationship.

Today we were honored by a courtesy call from Consul-General of the Republic of Korea, Choi Yong-jun.

As Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney and Consul-General of Malta, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar had the opportunity to welcome the new colleague to the beautiful state of New South Wales.

As Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar Consul-General of Malta, had the pleasure to meet José Alberto Ortiz,the newly-appointed Consul-General of Peru in Sydney with jurisdiction over all Australian States.

They discussed the Environment and Economic development of the respective countries and about being a Diplomat in the state of NSW. One looks forward to further collaboration, building on the existing excellent relations between the two nation states.

The Consul-General of Malta, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar, today attended a reception to celebrate Canada's National Day 2024.

An honour for Mr Lawrence Buhagiar Consul-General of Malta and Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney to host the CCS Head Of Posts Gala Dinner in honour of the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Margaret Beasley AC KC, and Mr Dennis Wilson.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Papua New Guinea after the massive landslide in which it is being reported that more than 100 people are feared dead.

The landslide is believed to have hit Kaokalam, a village in the Enga Province around 600 kilometres north-west of Port Moresby.

The Consul-General of Malta and Deab of the Consular Corps in Sydney, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar and Mrs Buhagiar attended the OZ Arab Media Gala Dinner 2024 celebrating the role of independent journalism and promoting cultural diversity in NSW.

The Australian International Multicultural Association (AIM), in collaboration with Oz Arab Media also held the prestigious AIM Business Awards 2024. Congratulations to all finalists and winners.

All proceeds of the event went to the Lions Club of Canterbury Bankstown.

As Dean of the Consular Corps in Sydney, I had an interesting meeting with United Nations Australia Association (NSW Division) discussing ways of cooperation between both parties.

Happy to meet with Dr Patricia Jenkings - President, Mr Timothy Ford AO - Vice-President Opertations, and Ms Mateya Slobodnik - UNAA Executive Manager.

The Consular Corps in Sydney will certainly look forward to cooperate with the UNAA and play a small part in addressing common global challenges faced by our societies.

The 5th Issue of the business magazine Ekonomos was presented tonight during a Gala Dinner organised by Dr Frank Alafaci, President of the Australian Business Summit Council Inc.

The ABSC Inc.’s premier showcase event featured an outstanding selection of business, political and community leaders, diplomatic officials and members of the press.

It was an honour for our Consul-General in Sydney, Mr Lawrence Buhagiar, to attend and network with so many distinguished guests.

The Consul-General of Malta today joined the RSL Maltese Sub-Branch to commemorate the fallen, the Maltese ANZACS.
