With Peter Lewis, an experienced GM with global luxury hotels and advanced degrees in teaching and tourism, leading the way, we saw tremendous growth at THSA. Sustainability Class with Real-World Examples 🌿

Last week, some of our THSA students had the chance to see their classroom lessons on sustainability in action at the Kitchen by Mike restaurant! 🍽️✨ As part of their business case study, they explored the restaurant’s innovative sustainable features and enjoyed a feast of delicious, locally-sourced seasonal dishes.🌿👨‍🍳 It was a perfect blend of theory and real-world examples.

This week, we delved into our archives and found photos of former students practicing their Food and Beverage skills. This is something we still focus on in our 'Food and Beverage Operations' unit today. 📚🍝🥤

One of the key topics within this unit is 'Menu Management', which is important in running a successful restaurant. Designing a menu goes beyond just selecting dishes; it's about elevating the dining experience, telling your restaurant's story, connecting with your guests, and boosting your restaurant's sales and revenue. Mastering this skill is essential for any Food and Beverage Manager, as well as entrepreneurs looking to open their own restaurant. 🍽️🏨

We are delighted to share the well-deserved promotion of Jasmine-Rose to Club Lounge Team Leader at InterContinental London Park Lane! 🌟👏

Jasmine-Rose's journey began at The Hotel School Hayman Island, where she started as a student and went on to complete her internship at InterContinental London Park Lane as a receptionist. Demonstrating her leadership and hospitality expertise, Jasmine-Rose seized the opportunity to advance to the role of Club Lounge Team Leader. 🚀🏨

In this role, Jasmine-Rose oversees the daily operations of the Executive Lounge, ensuring all guests are looked after throughout their stay and that her team is well-trained and supported within their roles. 👏

Jasmine-Rose's progression shows the career pathways available to students at The Hotel School Australia. We are immensely proud of her accomplishments and look forward to her continued success in her new role as Club Lounge Team Leader at InterContinental London Park Lane. 🏨✨

🌴 Dreaming of an island life? Meet Brooklyn Ivory, who's living that dream on Hayman Island! 🏝️🌊

“The Hotel School was so understanding and flexible, always looking after our mental, physical, and academic health,” Brooklyn shares. She quickly made lifelong friends in the island’s close-knit community. “You get to know everybody very quickly because you live, work, and do activities together,” she says. 📚✨

Brooklyn is excited about exploring opportunities after graduating in a few months time. She encourages anyone interested to go for it: “The most important thing you’ll take away is just the experience of living here which is something most people will never experience, and you’ll truly never regret it.” 🤩🌟

From the Whitney system to cloud-based Opera, the hospitality industry has transformed dramatically over the past 50 years...

Bulky desktop PCs have given way to sleek, nearly invisible screens, iPads, and smartphones, revolutionizing guest services and operations.
Hotels have evolved from NCR cash registers to software-based property systems (from Maxial to Fidelio through to the new virtual Opera), and now have advanced to applications such as HubOS, a Mulpha joint venture. Robotics and AI are the latest innovations, enhancing guest experiences and operational efficiency. 🏨🖥️

THSA has also kept pace with technological advancements. We've moved from overhead projectors to Zoom and Teams, engaging students with live case studies and industry projects. By blending AI, innovation, and current hospitality practices, THSA prepares students to be future thought leaders! 🚀✨

Winery tours, such as our field trips to Bimbadgen, Yarra Valley, and most recently to Stanthorpe, provide students with a comprehensive understanding of wine production while also equipping them with practical skills and knowledge essential for the hospitality and tourism industries. 🍷🌱

Since the '90s, THSA has supported charitable organisations and community activities, including the Red Shield Appeal, Taste of the Nation, and the St Vincent de Paul Christmas lunch. For this week's , we share a snap of former THSA students engaged in environmental efforts such as tree planting in the Hawkesbury/Nepean Catchment Area. 🌟🌱👏

Fast forward to recent times, THSA continues partnering with organisations like OzHarvest to give back to the planet and raise community awareness in the tourism industry. 🌏🥰
