Under 15's KO Netball

The girls under 15's KO Netball team competed against Castle Hill High School in the first round of the State KO competition. Unfortunately we went down in this game but pushed Castle Hill all the way. Each quarter was very close with the girls working hard across the court. The team never gave up and fought all the way through to the last quarter. The team did Glenwood proud with their determination and sportsmanship. Special thanks to Sammie who umpired the whole game by herself, we appreciate all her efforts.

More from our NAIDOC whole school assembly.

Photos from Glenwood High School NSW's post 03/07/2024

On Tuesday we held our NAIDOC whole school assembly. This year we were able to welcome Uncle Brendan to Glenwood HS. Uncle Brendan performed a Welcome to Country and explained the significance and meaning behind it. He then went on to share his own personal stories about his and his family's journey. He shared knowledge about the Yidaki, the sounds, the stories and the circular breathing before performing a range of sounds including animals and even cars and trucks. At the end of his talk, he performed a Smoking Ceremony and moved throughout our assembly and students, surrounding everyone with the cleansing smoke.

NAIDOC week runs from the 7-14th July.
This year's NAIDOC theme is "Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud".
The fire represents the enduring strength and vitality of Indigenous cultures, passed down through generations despite the challenges faced. It is a symbol of connection to the land, to each other. The week invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

Let's continue to be open to stories, traditions and culture, to move forward together, cherish and celebrate the fabric of the nation with the oldest living culture in the world.

Good morning,
We have a set of Kia car keys and a garage door key in our front office. If you have lost yours, please collect from us.
Thank you.

02/07/2024

With a 7:30am start to travel to Bathurst, despite the biting cold of the morning, the girls perseverance and skill would prove to be the deciding factors in a hard fought 4-1 victory, securing their spot in the quarter-finals of the Top 16 of the CHS competition!

Congratulations girls on this amazing achievement!

Getting Job Ready!

On Friday 21st June, students in Inclusive Education, got the opportunity to partake in a course delivered by educators from Ernst and Young. Bronwyn and Beth delivered an engaging and meaningful workshop to our students in years 10-12.

They looked at ‘today jobs’ and ‘someday jobs’, reflected on the three main considerations of choosing a job, being pay, passion and perks. Students participated in team building exercises and discussed skills they identified in themselves and others. The presenters demonstrated the importance of body language and self-presentation through a mock interview and students were given an easy-to-follow booklet to record information and ideas.

Overall, it was a positive and valuable course for students. They had fun and had an opportunity to reflect and learn about job readiness. It helped focus their attention on the future and start to put life after school into perspective. Bronwyn and Beth had such expertise, they were approachable and were able to help our students get the most out of the day.

A big thank you to them and congratulations to our year 10 -12 students for your outstanding efforts!
