At the recent Women of Worth event held in honour of International Women's Day, VectorFit led a group of 100 women through an exercise session highlighting the benefits of physical activity for mental wellbeing. Exercise can significantly reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as relieve stress and build strength.

Non weight bearing aerobic exercise is a great option for higher intensity exercise. Rowing in particular is one of the few exercises where our respiratory system will fatigue before our muscles when working maximally. Here we have Peter really going for it
Separating aerobic exercise into an upper and lower body activity is helpful to allow people to work for longer durations burning more calories. Here is a great modification of the ski erg, our client Roger is remaining seated instead of standing, and the upper torso is under heavy load while allowing his legs to recover before their next exercise. 🏋️♂️💪

Many office workers suffer from poor posture. Sitting at a desk with rounded shoulders means the upper back muscles are being pulled forwards. Here Mia is doing a standing row exercise to counteract this by engaging her mid traps, rhomboids and lats.
Boxing is a great exercise to work the cardiovascular system, getting the heart rate up while getting out any aggression or frustration! Balance, memory and core strength are all challenged in boxing workouts as well, making it a suitable exercise for people of all ages
Do you have a desk job or do regular extended periods of no activity? What can result is a tight thoracic (middle back) as shown in the photo, where our clients joints (identified in yellow) aren’t more aligned in the hanging position.
To avoid a tight thoracic you need to spend time activating, eccentric loading (extending under tension), and stretching the thoracic. Limited thoracic mobility increases the load and injury risk on your lower back and upper shoulder area.

Housemates Eden and Nicole have been doing group based personal training together for almost 2 years now. It’s a great way to motivate one another in the session, but also to hold each other accountable throughout the week with both food and exercise plans. It also makes training fun while still pumping it out!

Last week we celebrated the end of year with a team lunch out. It was time to replenish the protein after a big year.
We reflected on the highs of the year, and what were some of our individual learnings so we can continue to develop in 2023. The biggest thing we reflected on is that we genuinely care about the people we work with, and this is having good results for our clients, pushing each individual coach, and the company is growing.

Exercise is one of the best short term interventions for a Mood lift.
Charles is working with the battle ropes to strengthen his back, core, upper body and legs. This exercise is also great for challenging his co-ordination. Keep it up Charles! 💪
Misalignment in the ankle, knee and hip joints during movement can create injuries. If there is a kink in the chain, the force we produce can impact, muscle, tendon, ligament and bone. Take the time to lighten your load and look at the minor detail.
For client Richard, we will be spending the next phase of his program stabilizing the ankles 🏋️♀️👍🏻
Check out our client Sed working on strengthening his rotator cuff (RC) muscles using a resistance band.
The RC has a stabilizing role in the shoulder joint and can get injured or weaken through impact or overuse. E.g. too much swimming or if you have a physical job like painting. If we spend time working the supporting muscles like the RC, the whole shoulder can tolerate greater loads!
So great to be working with Duncan who is using exercise to improve his fitness and health. Duncan turns up every week and never complains!

- Heart rate: Climbing up, average was 120bpm, dropping to 90bpm averages for the way down
- Rate of perceived exertion (RPE): 14/20, due to the sustained elevated HR and steepness of the climb
- Calories Burned =Time * (0.6309 * Average HR+ 0.1988 * Weight + 0.2017 * Age - 55.0969) / 4.184 = 873.84 calories burned for the session
Overall worth the effort and a great aerobic workout👌🏻👍🏻💪
