On 27 August 2024, we had the pleasure of attending our first able.plus event in Castle Hills.
Our Continence Nurse Specialist was joined by Cassandra, Business Development Manager for NSW at Surgical House. It was a significant occasion for our team, especially for Charrisse. She reconnected with Ian Coker, co-founder and director of Able Plus, whom she had previously met when Ian was an NDIS Plan Manager. It was wonderful to see their professional relationship rekindled in this new setting. This event was a major step forward in strengthening our networks within the disability services community. 🌐
The following day, 28 August 2024, we attended the Hawkesbury Disability Expo hosted by Blitzit Plan Manager, Support Agency, Healthproof, and Advance Disability Services & Respite. Our Continence Nurse Specialist was once again joined by Cassandra from Surgical House. Hawkesbury Mayor Sarah McMahon delivered the opening speech. At the expo, our team explored a diverse range of resources, connected with numerous NDIS service providers in the Hawkesbury area, and engaged with innovative technologies that enhance accessibility and independence. We also discovered new programmes and activities accessible to people of all needs, as well as to parents and carers 👥
🌟 Attending the first Autism Expo Australia 2024 on 24th August 2024 was a significant milestone for us! Held at The Space Event Centre, Cabra-Vale Diggers Club, this exceptional expo brought together professionals, parents, and individuals on the autism spectrum.

AugustMidMonth Update
📅 On August 3, 2024, we had the privilege of attending the Sydney Disability Expo 2024 at Sydney Olympic Park, marking our first-ever appearance at such an event. The expo was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our specialised continence management, nursing support and care services. We made some invaluable connections with suppliers and explored the latest innovations and educational developments in our field. Our highlight was meeting with Surgical House, a leading Australian supplier of healthcare consumables. This inspiring interaction led to exciting discussions about future collaborations to enhance our services. Overall, the expo was a great success, paving the way for future growth and collaboration in disability services.
🤝 On August 6, 2024, our Continence Nurse Specialist Charrisse, had a productive meeting with Serge and Cassandra from Surgical House, who had shown interest in our services during the Sydney Disability Expo. Charrisse and Kavita CaptainK Supports and Cares (the Continence Nurse Specialist at Surgical House in Perth), completed their prestigious Continence Specialist Postgraduate Course together. We discussed how our continence management approach could enhance their offerings and provide a more comprehensive continuum of care for clients. This collaboration is set to be mutually beneficial, driving superior care across New South Wales and paving the way for future growth and innovation in continence management.
🌟 On August 12, 2024, we teamed up with Tender Loving Care Disability Services Staff for a Palliative Care Course in Kellyville SIL House. The course focused on a holistic approach to managing life-limiting illnesses, covering the physical, psychological, spiritual, and emotional aspects of patient care. Through engaging discussions and activities, participants gained valuable skills to deliver compassionate and comprehensive care, aiming to improve the quality of life for patients during their toughest times.
🌐 On August 15, 2024, we participated in our first event, a unique networking opportunity in the disability sector. The event’s speed-dating format allowed us to connect with various service providers, stakeholders, participants, people with disabilities, and support coordinators. Hosted by One Community at St Mary's Rugby Club, the Ready-Set-Connect Kids event provided a fantastic platform for us to showcase our services, engage with peers, and build valuable relationships. This milestone highlights our ongoing growth and impact within the community.
