As the clock ticked over into today, spring officially sprung. 🌱💯
You can smell it in the air 🌸 Flowers are blossoming and balmy nights are afoot. A new season brings with it possibilities, creativity, love 💗, and a revitalised sense of wellbeing for not only ourselves, but also our relationships.

The Music Performance Unit, Health Promotion Unit, and the Media and Immersive Technologies team have been collaborating ahead of this month’s SEXtember festival which runs from September 16-27 at UNSW.
Working with creative and poet Natalia Rachel, The Living Poetry Project grew from an idea of placing human relationships at the heart of our art. Using life to inspire art, four students delved into their lived experience, took inspiration from their own story and relationships to compose a stand-alone poem that will be showcased in September via an installation on campus and online.

A nod to each of our student poets, Natalia Rachel threads each poem through a new video work scored by composer Sophia Christopher that is both Salty and Sweet.

On Monday 15 April, we sadly lost a cherished member of Corde, Richard Willgoss.

Richard had been a cherished member of the UNSW choral program since 2006, having pivoted into a musical career after 30 years as a science and engineering academic. He was a key member of the bass section for so many in our student and alumni community, and will be deeply missed.

Since 2016, Richard and his wife supported the Willgoss Choral Composition Prize, and the Willgoss Choral and Instrumental Prizes, investing in the creativity of the next generation of choral composers and performers about which they were very passionate.
Richard was also a passionate string player, music academic, composer and lutenist, inviting Corde and MPU staff to sign several of his instruments as he crafted them.

The Music Performance Unit offers condolences to Sue Willgoss, their children and grandchildren.
Current and alumni members of Corde are privileged to be joining in the commemoration of Richard’s life next Wednesday 8 May.
