Our Under 15s Girls Rugby League team made an impressive debut at the inaugural NSWCCC Girls Rugby League Cup. They showcased remarkable skills in both attack and defence. Their relentless spirit and determination were on full display as they advanced to the semi-finals, where they played a thrilling match against our local rivals, St Pat’s. Despite a narrow 22-20 defeat, the girls demonstrated extraordinary grit and skill throughout the game. Congratulations to the team - you made us incredibly proud today. Placing third overall is a testament to your hard work and talent.

Today, as we celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary MacKillop, we pause again to consider her great legacy.
She is our Bruchhauser House Patron Saint, and she was the first and only official saint who was born and lived in Australia.
Mary MacKillop was born on January 15, 1842, in Melbourne. She was the eldest of eight children born to Scottish immigrants. In 1867, Mary MacKillop co-founded the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart with Father Julian Tennison Woods. The order's mission was to provide education to children, particularly those in remote areas, and to care for the poor and needy. Mary MacKillop's life was marked by her deep devotion to God and her commitment to serving the poor and marginalized. She emphasized the importance of practical charity and caring for those in need. One of her famous sayings is: “Never see a need without doing something about it”. Looking at the significance of Mary Mackillop, we see a strong and determined woman who was able to battle through suffering and persecution in order to achieve better outcomes for the poor and the needy across Australia and New Zealand. She valued education and realised that education was important in setting up young people for success in life. Just like Mary Magdalene, Mary Mackillop was generous, courageous, devoted to God and committed to serving others in the name of Jesus. Hopefully we can learn from Mary Mackillop and Mary Magdalene and begin to devote ourselves more strongly to following Jesus and the Gospel values.
The official theme for St Mary MacKillop’s feast day this year is “Be Fierce for Fair” - encouraging us to walk in Mary’s disruptive footsteps by being:

- Fierce in the face of adversity
- Fair and proactive when we see injustice
- Loving to those we encounter each day

Prayer

God of the prophets you gifted Mary MacKillop with vision and courage.
In her, we see one who was not afraid to speak fearlessly your gospel of love.
We pray for the sensitivity and imagination to read the signs of our times
and to articulate new possibilities for our own day.
Like Mary, may we learn to confront all that is oppressive and unjust,
and empower others towards true freedom and integrity.
Spirit of wisdom, be with us as we face new horizons.

Amen

🌟 Winter Appeal 🌟

At our College, we believe in making a positive impact in our local community. This term, we're partnering with the St Vincent de Paul Society and their Camden Hub, which provides essential support to individuals and families in need. ❤️

The Camden Hub offers immediate assistance with food, groceries, and other everyday essentials. 🥫🧼 To support this invaluable work, we're asking for your help in collecting donations.

Each grade has been assigned specific items to contribute, and these donations will be packed and presented at our College Winter Sleepout on the 14th of June. Here's how you can help.

Your generosity can make a significant difference. Students can bring their donations to the tubs in the Pavilion. Together, we can support our neighbours in need and make a meaningful impact. 🤝

Welcome to Magdalene Catholic College, Narellan

Magdalene Catholic College (MCC) prides itself on being able to provide quality Catholic education to young people in the Western Macarthur.

Established by the Diocese of Wollongong in 1999 to cater for the enormous population growth in the region, the school has developed an excellent reputation in a relatively short timeframe across a number of different domains. Indeed, apart from academic excellence, the school is well known in the local area for supporting a range of social justice and community initiatives.

The world in which we live has never been inundated by so many significant and disparate challenges. Accordingly, MCC aims to support the growth of discerning young men and women who are prepared to be productive, see themselves as positive change agents and actually make a difference in their lives (and others’) during and beyond school.

Along with goals of developing active participants in the world beyond school, MCC focuses on the education of the ‘whole person’ in spirit, mind, body, character and imagination. The School’s curriculum provides opportunities for its students to engage in rich thinking, discerning judgement and responsible decision making. Furthermore, MCC's motto: “Quia Dominum Vidi” (“Because I have seen the Lord”) clearly indicates the evangelising role that all members of the community can play, and it invites Magdalene students to commit themselves to a life centred on Jesus and His values.
