πDirect Support Worker's Conference 2024π
π Our team was thrilled to have Paul, Tim, and Dan attend the 2024 Direct Support Worker's Conference (DSWC) in Brisbane this July! The conference was packed with powerful sessions on everything from intersectional holistic approaches and advocacy to the role of support workers in person-centered care and creating change for LGBTQI+ people with disabilities.
Some of their favourite quotes they took away from the two day conference were;
"Empowering your participants with a positive mind set"
"Highlight the ability not the disability"
"People don't care what you know until you show how much you care"
The guys came back inspired and full of new insights from incredible speakers like Kath Koschel, Keith Banks, Wayne Bennett, and more.
Theyβve compiled their learnings into detailed reports, now available for all staff to dive into. Letβs keep the momentum going as we continue to grow and support each other in our important work! πͺ

2023 Annual General Meeting - π€
Our Annual AGM was an incredible gathering a few weeks back! ππ
It was a night filled with reflection of the past 12 months and loads of fun getting to catch up with everyone. π₯°
We delved into valuable insights for TIPACL including the presentation of audit financial statements 2022-2023 and recognition of our long-term employees and the election of our Board of Management for 2024: Aileen Sorohan - President, Maria Binnie - Vice - President, Duncan Brown - Secretary, Jason Donoghue - Treasurer, Pauline Zohn, Melissa Broughton and Chad Jordan - Ordinary Members.
The atmosphere was buzzing with energy as we connected, shared ideas, and talked about 2023 and the year that was! 2023 was a big year and with lots more on the horizon we can't wait to see what the AGM for 2024 will bring!
Though the night was a great success and filled with lots of joy and laughter, we also officially said goodbye to one of our longest serving Key Support Workers! Sue finished up with us in 2023 after being with TIPACL and her participants since June 2001. Sue, we couldn't be more appreciative of everything you have done for TIPACL and the participants you worked with over the years. We hope you enjoy your retirement life, don't be a stranger!
Thank you to everyone that participated and made this AGM a fantastic night. Your contributions and enthusiasm truly made a difference. Let's keep the momentum going and continue to excel together.
