🫵🏼 PLEASE HELP! Will you help divert young people from the headlines? 🗞️

In foster care, attending more than 12 schools, and parents struggling with addiction issues, Darcy, now a PCYC Youth Support Worker, openly reveals how he has broken out of the cycle of disadvantage. 🫶

“You can come from any walk of life really; a broken family, homelessness, or other situation…and you can make it. A new environment can change everything. It gives you hope.” Darcy reflects on how volunteering at PCYC helped change his worldview. 🙌

Young Queenslanders step through the doors of our 56 clubs for many reasons. 👣 Some, like Darcy, urgently need support and connection; others are homeless, living in poverty, are disengaged, or suffering trauma. 🆘

PCYC has delivered more than 264,000 youth program engagements across Queensland, 31% more than this time last year. 👏

Please consider investing in your community and donate today. 🎁

Darcy left an unstable home life at just 12 years old. As a teenager in foster care, he attended youth Drop In sports ⛹️‍♂️ at PCYC Beenleigh ─ and found the support and courage to completely turn his life around.

“My message to any youth who has gone down a difficult path is, just understand that there are people around you can talk to. And at PCYC…. we’re here,” says Darcy, now working as a PCYC Youth Support Worker 💙

PCYC’s Drop In program has one key purpose ─ to serve as a lifeline and raise the gaze of young people up and away from the streets. 🙅‍♂️🚫

This year, we’ve had more than 58,000 youth participant engagements 👏 across Queensland for our Drop In and After Dark youth diversionary programs ─ up a staggering 76 percent. 🪜 Help us extend our reach to more youth at-risk and donate today.💸

“Even as a child, I knew it was wrong...”Darcy experienced a difficult childhood and turned to the police for help at just 12 years old.

In foster care, attending more than 12 schools, and parents struggling with addiction issues, Darcy changed his story and is now giving back as a PCYC Youth Support Worker at PCYC Crestmead. 🫶

“To be honest, I wouldn’t know where I would be without PCYC… you can come from a broken family, homeless… and just ask for help and they will help you.” – Darcy reflects on his teenage experience attending youth Drop In at PCYC 💙

Determined to leave his traumatic past behind and wanting to use his experience for good, Darcy completed a certificate IV in Youth Work 🎓 and knew where he could make a real impact – at his local PCYC club. 🙌 He’s now a positive role model helping other local youth experiencing the same struggles he overcame.

Meet Darcy, a PCYC Youth Support Worker, and hear how he broke out of the cycle of disadvantage and is now paying it forward helping other young Queenslanders change their story. 🫶

In 2009, Darcy bravely sought help from the police to escape from an unstable home life and parents struggling with addiction.

As a teenager in foster care, he attended youth Drop In at PCYC Beenleigh for sports ⛹️‍♂️ and found the support he needed to heal, thrive, and the courage to start again at a new school.

“I remember being 12 years old and going to PCYC… I knew it was a safe space. I knew if I wanted to talk to anyone, I could talk to the police officer or staff on duty,” reveals Darcy. 👮👮🏼‍♀️🤝
