Let’s give back to those who give so much.
3144 Australians died of su***de in 2021. I want to walk 3144km before New Year, in memory of every single one of those people. And raise $3144 dollars while we’re at it for Beyond Blue. Link in the comments ⬇️
G’day, I’m Kate and our organisation Battling Boundaries is reaching out for people to battle this task with me. I have committed to daily kms, but even without a wheelie walker and with two good legs, I’d have to do about 64kms a day to reach this goal before New Year! I need your help!
Simply do a few km’s, one even! Walk up your street! Every metre counts toward the 3144kms.
Take a walk by yourself, with your dog, your cat, go with a friend, a family member, and while you’re at it, ask how they’re doing. Check in. Bring the conversation forward.
Take a good old selfie if you like, throw Indie and I a shakas 🤙🏼 tag Battling Boundaries to let me know the metres and let’s hopefully bring in a that little bit more aware 2023.
Welcome to Battling Boundaries - A developing non-profit organisation determined to help a range of people living with disabilities or mental illness.
My name is Kate and I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder in 2020, which affects brain function and the nervous system, a disorder that is in need of more awareness and further research. Not only did living with a disability change my life, but the life of my family and children changed overnight too. So this is a cause close to my heart.
I wish to create a space for compassion and understanding, where not only those with disabilities live with changed lives, but a place of support for their families and loved ones as well. And not only FND, this is a platform to raise awareness for all disabilities, illnesses and mental illnesses alike. Everyone is battling something. Let’s battle it together.
What’s next?
- A place for people and families to share their stories in the ‘THIS IS MY STORY’ initiative.
- Pass the Power Initiative - a platform to organise the re-homing of wheelchairs and walking aids to empower those in need.
- Raising awareness.
- Fundraising towards research, or families/carers in need of financial support.
- Organising with the businesses I’m working with to offer a range of free services for those in need such as mowing, house keeping, and pressure cleaning.
