Unfortunately nippers will be canceled today (Sunday 10th December) due to dangerous surf and windy conditions.

SRC are NOT effected and still should meet at the gym 9am.

Swimmers and Stuff

If you ordered swimwear, and haven't yet picked it up, come and see us by the board trailer on the beach this Sunday (Please allow plenty of time before Nippers starts).

We are also accumulating a fair amount of lost property. This will be in a tub by the board trailer - if you are missing something, come and take a look (and remember to check that you have everything with you - particularly drink bottles - when signing off every week).

Hey Nippers 😎.

We are at Fishermans beach today (Sunday 3 December) Gloucester Boulevard entrance. Sign on from 9am for a 9:30 start.

We would like to remind all parents, but especially those of our younger nippers that they need to remain with their groups. We have had a couple of instances this year when Age Managers have needed the assistance of parents with their child but nobody has been around.
Please help our Age Managers out. They are volunteering their time to help all of your kids.

Nippers this Sunday (29th Oct) will be at Fisherman’s beach (entry from Gloucester Boulevard). Start at 9:30.

Would like to thank Craig Spriggs, General Manager for McDonald Jones Homes South Coast division for coming to visit us today. McDonald Jones Homes have given our Nippers program a fantastic contribution this year for the purchase of some much needed safety equipment. We wholeheartedly thank them and their team.

What an awesome day to start the Nippers season. So good to be back on the beach, having fun and learning new skills. Great job everyone 😁.

Kicking off the Nippers 2023/24 season!😁

Looking forward to getting started on another great season of Nippers this Sunday (22nd Oct).

Many thanks to all the legends that have put their hands up to be Age Managers - we really appreciate the great job you do; associates/parents, please be ready to get involved and help them out when needed.

So, the uniforms, unfortunately these may not be ready for collection this week, but we will let you know as soon as they are available.

PROFICENCIES THIS WEEKEND 🌞
Don't forget nippers from ALL age groups should attend one of the proficiency sessions this weekend (14/15 October), any time between 10am and 12 noon. Nippers should wear regular swimmers and bring a towel or something warm for when they get out of the water.

Nippers that have not registered in previous years, and haven't sent in a copy of their birth certificates, should bring them along to the proficiency and we will be able to check these off.

NIPPERS PROFICIENCY U6 - U13

Nippers proficiencies are being held this weekend (Sat 14th and Sun 15th) between 10am - 12pm at Port Kembla Pool. Nippers from ALL age groups will need to attend on ONE of the days.

Anyone interested in swim club?

AGE MANAGERS/ASSISTANT AGE MANAGERS REQUIRED

Wonderful to have so many Nippers register this season 😁. However, we are going to need more Age Managers and/or Assistant Age Managers, particularly to help in the younger age groups.

Age Managers only need to run the beach activities (no swimming required) and it is a lot of fun, particularly when there are plenty of you to collaborate and help each other out. To undertake the role some short online SLSA courses need to be completed and a free Working With Children Check (WWCC) is required.

We are doing one final uniform shop this Thursday (21st) 4pm - 6 pm at the patrol shed. If you need uniforms this will be the last opportunity to place an order.

Sorry but the U6 group is now full and we have had to close registrations for this age group.

Nippers 2023 - 2024 Season

Registrations for the 2023-2024 Nippers season will be opening very soon. Yes opening - this year we are moving registrations and uniforms online!

Information will be provided on how to complete the process and it should be relatively straight forward and efficient. We anticipate that registration and the uniform shop will be open ONLY for a two week period (although if we get overwhelming demand we may have to close registration early).

2022/2023 Presidents Report

It was great to get back to a full season of Nippers this year with no covid interruptions. We again made good use of Fisherman’s Beach and Port Kembla Pool when the conditions prevented us from getting in the water at Port Beach. Having this beach and the pool available to us is invaluable and has offered our Nippers a great place to learn and hone their water skills.

The Nippers program would not be possible without the help of our volunteers and the community. I would like to give thanks to the following people:
• The committee for volunteering their time and knowledge in making this club run successfully.
• Our Water Safety Personnel, these junior lifesavers do a fantastic job and we wouldn't be able to do it without them.
• All Age Managers for your tireless efforts in guiding our nippers around the beach on Sundays. Giving your time to teach other people’s children and your own is great service to our club.
• JB and the staff at Port Kembla Pool for their hospitality.

All our Nippers were able to fulfil their requirements for the season and receive their certificates. I would like to congratulate Scarlett MacAskill on receiving Point Score Champion for the year.

This year we had 203 Nippers registered. This is up on our previous year. This is a good outcome for our Club and community. Our presentation day went off without a hitch and it was good to see so many of you attend and having fun. I would lastly like to thank our committee members for their tireless work this Year. Without volunteers on our committee what we do would not be possible.

Port Kembla Nippers would like to welcome Mcdonald Jones Homes to the family. They have kindly agreed to donate the sum of $5000 to help fund the purchase of some much-needed equipment. We look forward to meeting with some of your representatives in the near future.
