Happy Mother’s Day to all of our mums! A big thank you for all you do!
Sharing the sad news that our Life Member – Peter Ennever passed away last week.
Peter was a Wollongong junior, and went on to become one of Wollongong District Cricket Club’s finest clubmen. Peter was a versatile player, a right-hand bat, more than capable wicket-keeper and a handy change bowler.
Peter played in three 1st Grade Premierships 1956-57, 1957-58, 1970-71. He also captained Wollongong to three 2nd Grade Premierships, was a long-term Treasurer and President of our club (1980/81 to 82/83).
The Club sends its condolences to Hazel & the extended family.
A selection of photos from our Juniors 2023/24 Season.
Our Wollongong Juniors celebrated their Season's end on Friday night.
With our Woolworth Blasters, three Under 10s teams, U11s, three Under 13s teams & Under 17s teams all at North Dalton Park we celebrated our Ian Hogg Junior Player of the Year - Joel Badger, and Junior Female Player of the Year - Olivia Head, and all the Teams. Well done to all.
We also want to thank our Sponsors that make it possible to make cricket more affordable for everyone to play, and have a little fun along the way. Our thanks to Stop Slow Traffic Control, Head Built Homes and BW Windows....as well as Fairy Meadow Dominos..
We would like to thanks Fairymeadow Dominos for their support of our Juniors over the 2023/24 season!
Time to celebrate a very successful 2023/24 Season for the Lighthouse Keepers.
It started out claiming the Cricket Illawarra T20 Titles in 1st Grade and 4th Grade.
Then we won the NSW Cricket Community Cup. And we ended the regular CI Season with teams in the Semi Finals of all Grades (Mens & Womens). Our 4th Grade went on to win that Premiership.
We keep building our Juniors, and we were successful off the field too, with the support of our many business sponsors, as well as our volunteers doing plenty of fundraising in addition to the regular challenges of getting teams on the park each week.
It was a Season to be proud of, with plenty of success.

And the Friday night before the big flood, was the Cricket Illawarra Senior Presentation Night. We had plenty to celebrate along with the other Clubs, and 5 Inductees into the CI Hall of Fame.
Major Award winner on the night was the CI Player of the Year - and our, Jayden Zahra-Smith.
Toby Dodds scored the most runs in 1st Grade.
Awais Khaliq took the most wickets and best average in 3rd Grade.
Dawood Hassan did the same in 4th Grade.
Our 4th Grade (Blues) were there to claim the Trophy for their Premiership win.
And we remembered our 1st Grade & our 4th Grade T20 wins from way back in November 2023.
Nothing compared to the problems many others in the Illawarra woke up to on Saturday morning, but here's a few photos of what 150mm of rain in 4 hours does to North Dalton Park.
A few things from the Aussie Cricket League T20 games. Congratulations to our U17s player Tejas Aggarwal who played for the Indian Tigers. Plus a few of the ACL crew...and one of ours asked to present the Player of the Match - Game 1.
On behalf of the committee we would like to wish all Sponsors, members and your families a safe and Happy Easter. May you all enjoy this great time with your family!
Aussie Cricket League T20 are all set up. The ground at North Dalton Park is ready for the U19s T20 action to begin tomorrow.
Come and take a look at the action from 1:30pm into the night under lights...over the next 6 days.
Exciting to see some international Under 19s players coming to North Dalton Park next week for some T20 cricket.
There will be teams & players from New Zealand, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Western Australia & Sydney all playing from Easter Sunday, with the Final under lights on Friday 5th April from 5:30pm. Games start 1:30pm & 5:30 each day...so get along and enjoy the show.
There will be a bar open, with food/dinner/canteen also available .
A win for our 4th Grade Blues, but a loss for our 3rd Grade in the Finals for 2023/24.
4th Grade Blues were asked to bowl, and we bowled out Uni Green for 107. Krishna Yellepeddi 3/6 was the star of the bowling. And as most Finals seem to turn out, the result was in the balance…but 56 to Mayur Bagul was enough to see us to 7/108, and to claim the 4th Grade Premiership.
3rd Grade lost the toss and Keira told us to have a bat. It was slow progress and we ended up with 9/125. Jason Welsh made 48. But it wasn’t enough with Keira making 5/126 in the 43rd over. Alas after 4 Premierships on the trot, this was the one the got away.
Wishing our 3rd & 4th Grade teams well in the Finals tomorrow. Both will be playing at Dalton Park from 12 noon. Love to see plenty of support in the Maroon & White of the Lighthouse Keepers.
Interested...get involved and teach the next generation

Semi Finals week….and while it wasn’t good news for our 1s & 2s, we have made it through to the 3rd & 4th Grade Finals.
1st Grade took on University and Uni made 7/197 for us to chase. We lost a wicket the very first ball, and regular wickets after that as the game slipped away from us…all out 67.
2nd Grade had Keira at Figtree Oval. We batted first and we lost our first wicket at 84, after Peter Zybrands had just brought up his 50. From there, it was steady flow of wickets and we were bowled out for 139. Keira lost just 5 wickets chasing down the total in the 43rd over.
3rd Grade had IPCC Black to take on. And while IPCC were off to a good start with 42 on the board before they lost a wicket, they were all out for 92. Jason Welsh was the chief destroyer with 4/24. Travis Dutton made 32, and we lost regular wickets to keep it interesting…but eventually, we claimed the win 6/96, and we will take on Keira Red in the Final next weekend.
Our two 4th Grade sides took on each other in one Semi Final…and it was the 4th Grade Blues that will be progressing through to the Finals. Unsure at this point whether it will be against NDs or Uni. 4s White batted first and we made 157, with the Blue running that score down 6/159 with 4 overs to spare. Rana Mateen made 50 in the Whites innings & Jaswanth Rajamahanti 41 for the Blues…more details to follow.
Last night our Junior Gems finished their last game of the season! Out of 15 games the girls won 9, lost 2 and had 4 games washed out! The future is bright for the junior gems and as you can see the Muffins and Pizzas went down well! Big thanks to all the parents for their support throughout the season!
Some snaps from the WDCC Annual Golf Day, a massive thanks to for their hospitality it was first class and we are grateful for the support. A massive thanks to all our the sponsors for the day. SPG (Cameron), Assett, Bob, Steve Norris, Peter Head! Also thanks to .shellharbour for their donations. Last but not least a massive thanks to Will Badger and Cameron Johnson who went above and beyond to get the day sorted! Thanks so much gents!
Our Women’s T20 Semi Final didn’t go our way. Port Kembla batted first and made 2/112. Lisa Tomlinson batted through our innings for 16 n.o., but we were bowled out for 41. And that’s where our season finishes. We introduced a heap of new ladies to cricket, and making Semi Finals was a credit to the team & coach Peter Rowe.
1st & 2nd Grade had close finishes against Northern Districts…but both ended up with losses.
1s bowled first and NDs ended up with 9/243. Cooper Bramley had a day out, taking 5/36. In our reply, Toby Dodds made 71, but we were all out 220.
2s also bowled first and NDs made 222. Our chase didn’t start well, losing 2 wickets in the first over. But we pushed on, and at 8/208 and 4 overs to go, we were well in the game. Cameron Johnson ended up 92 n.o., but we were all out 210.
3rd Grade also had an exciting game with University. We bowled Uni out for 146, Awais Khaliq took 4/20, then he needed some late order batting heroics, making 37 n.o. to get us the win 9/147. Steve Norris came up with some big runs too with 38.
4s Blue took on 4s White for the last regular season game of the year. We went in 1st & 3rd on the ladder, we came out 2nd & 3rd placed, with our 4s Blues taking the win. 4s Whites batted first and made 135. 4s Blues were able to chase them down and claimed the win, with Jaswanth Rajamahanti making 42, and Rohit Redyy 36 n.o..
4s Maroon took on Dapto and were set 305 to chase. To our credit, we batted and batted and ended our innings on 9/190. James Tarlinton has been threatening to make a score all season, and today he made 54. Liam White (53 n.o.) also made a half century, his first in Grade cricket.
With other Club results…its looking like we have just missed the Club Championship by just a couple of points. Nevertheless, it has been a massively successful season. We will have 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s White & 4s Blues through to the Seimi Finals next weekend.
How cool is this! 4 Generations of the Smith’s! Graeme and Stuart who are both Life Members of WDCC, then add in Scott our current 2nd Grade Captain and our newest edition Lachlan! Something our club is proud of!
Our Women Gems went down to Corrimal on Friday night. We made 6/94, but the Cougarettes chased them down 5/96 in 17 overs. That leaves our Gems in 4th place, and taking on the Port Kembla Panthers in next Friday’s Semi Final.
Our Grade sides picked up wins for 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s White & 4s Blue. And although 4s Maroon had a loss, they fought hard against the 4th placed IPCC Whites.
1st Grade had a challenging game against Corrimal. There was 8 overs a side lost for a rain delay, and we bowled out Corrimal for 177. Duckworth Lewis made that 182 for us to chase. Jayden Zahra-Smith took 3/20, then made 43 out of a 47 run opening partnership. A few batsmen chipped in with 20’s & 30’s, and we took the win 6/182 in the 39th over.
2s put on 5/217 against Corrimal, with Cameron Johnson making 75, and Scott Smith 50 n.o. We bowled out Corrimal for 108, with Trae Liddell taking 4/19, and Zohirul Islam 3/29.
3s continued their winning ways, although Wests put on a competitive 7/183 for us to chase. Jason Welsh took 3/27, and Muhammad Ayaz continued to be miserly…taking 2/9 off his 9 overs. And in the run chase, we got away to a 119 run opening partnership. Travis Dutton made 43, and Michael Bryant went big…making his first century (106 n.o.) for the Lighthouse Keepers. We made 1/184, with 4 overs to spare.
4s White took on Port Kembla and we bowled them out for 92. Aarez Khan the pick of the bowlers with 3/11. Dawood Hassan made 46 n.o. in the run chase to give us the win 2/96 after 19 overs.
4s Blue bowled first, and Keira Black put on 9/155. Our boys were in a hurry, and made 1/156 in the 22nd over. Saurabh Joshi 39, Arun Varghese 36, Mayure Bagul 67 n.o.
4s Maroon made 8/147 chasing IPCC White’s 220.
Next week is final Round of Competition before Semis.
Our Golf Day is only 2 weeks away! Teams are filing in, 7 Teams available! Contact us today!
Plenty of Opportunity to sponsor a hole as well!
After plenty of heavy rain Friday afternoon, continuing into Saturday morning, we began the day wondering if any cricket would be played. As it ended up, only the 3rd Grade game was abandoned.
1st Grade took on Port Kembla. The Blacks batted first and made 153. Pushpinder Jassal took 3/41. We chased hard and made 3/155 in the 25th over in reply, with Ethan Debono making 77 n.o. Might be a handy 2 bonus points.
2nd Grade had a 2.5 hr delay to the start…so we had a reduced 30 over game. Port scored 9/166. No one got going in our chase…and we were all out 90.
3rd Grade – washed out against IPCC Black
4th Grade White bowled out Northern Districts Sky for 38, then chased them down 0/39 in 9 overs. Aamer Shams took 4/19 & Aarez Khan 3/6.
Then there was our 4th Grade Blue v Maroon game. Maroons batted first and made 105, which the Blues chased down 4/109 in 19 overs. Satya Saieesh Tadi took 5/34 & Jaswanth Rajamahanti made 43 in the run chase.

Junior match reports:
U10’s Blacks:
With our newest U10’s team playing there 3rd game at Darcy Wentworth East, there was some miss communication to both teams meaning the other team didn’t turn up.
That didn’t hinder our youngster, so we played a game with ourselves. Batters batted in pairs and face 20 balls each, bowlers bowled 3/4 overs and 4 players tried keeping so was a great hit out. It also gave us a chance for all parents to umpire or score.
Innings got off to a great start with Vivan (11) playing some nice shots including a 4 and Khush (18) finishing off his innings strong with 3 4’s from his last 4 balls. In came in were Rowan (4) and Zeke (4) who made some handy contributions with playing some nice shots and working the singles. Up next was Zak (5) and Lachlan (15) who work the singles and a 4 to Lachlan of his last ball finishing off strongly. Lawson (33) and Darcy (20) finished the innings of strongly. Darcy worked the singles along with 2 nice 4’s and Lawson smashed 6 4’s, putting an extra fielder on the leg side boundary still didn’t stop him splitting the field with some nice shots!
All bowlers bowl well l, only bowling 28 extras from 28 overs, with each player chipping in with 1/2 wickets, but a massive effort for Rowan for picking up 4 wickets. Great game had by all with the score 15/148 of 28 overs.
U10’s maroon:
Maroon's had a solid win over Wests Red at Dalton West this morning. Lucy won a good toss and sent the opposition in before things got too hot in the field. The kids bowled well and wickets were shared around evenly. Backing up the throw was an improvement from last week. Well done. This week's focus at training is straightening our bowling as the No Ball count was a bit high today. Some good contributions with the bat. Nice job Sam (15) with some lovely drives and Isaac (22) was solid again. Great job in the heat by Zac who was out there for a large part of the innings and ran with Lucy until stumps.
U11’s:
We played H/Burgh at H/Burgh and Noah won the toss as captain and elected to bat on a damp slow outfield. Noah and Jensen opened and batted solidly with Jensen hitting 3 good 4’s and Noah chipping in with some good running between wickets. Logan, Harry and Oscar then followed and all ran some nice singles. Harry hit 2 good 4’s and Logan and Oscar chipped in with a well hit 4 each. Levi and Samuel were last to bat and again ran some good singles on the slow outfield. Levi also hit a nice 4. Our batting was solid however our running between the wickets needs improving as we had 2 or 3 run outs where the boys just did not talk to each other at all and just ran regardless of where they hit the ball. We will work on this at training. Our total ended up being 6/114.
We started our bowling and fielding quiet well and all boys did a good job. It was a hot day out in the middle so the boys did get a little tired and sluggish in the field at times. Harry and Jensen bowled their usual pace balls and were rewarded with 2 wickets each. Samuel also bowled his medium pacers and picked up 2 good wickets. Noah chipped in with some good bowling for 1 wicket and he also took a very good high catch near mid on. Special mention to Oscar who bowled very tightly and was rewarded with 2 wickets by bowling both individual batters. Wicket keeping was completed by Samuel for the first 10 over’s and he kept solidly. Noah kept the second 10 over’s and he was outstanding. Noah completed a good run out from some good all round fielding. Noah also took a superb low diving caught behind catch to his right where the batsman nicked the ball to him. H/Burgh all out for 11/88 which earned us a good WIN.
