Mauro strings the most diverse and successful projects together as if they were sparkling diamonds in a clear summer sky. Most recent fact “Eternal SundayDrive” (2021), an album where Mauro returned to melodic pop. Late 2024, Mauro will tour solo with completely new music. New release can be expected in 2025!

🌴Rum Jungle are a hammock swinging between two palm trees, overlooking the ocean. The Newcastle band have emerged as a serious player in one of the country’s most lively music scenes.

🌊Touring with Lime Cordiale, Peking Duk, Hilltop Hoods and British India to name a few. The four-piece have developed a devoted fanbase off the back of their first two EPs Crazy Days and Sun & Smoke, and continue to develop their relaxed reggae-rock style with a new EP - EVERYTHING IS EASY. 7 tracks to soundtrack to a cruisy weekend afternoon, the drive home, lazy holidays by the water and endless sunsets.

is a Brussels-based DJ, producer and guitarist. In March 2024 he self-released his debut EP ‘A Souvenir That Lasts’, merging experimental and ambient music, shoegaze influenced sounds with naïve guitar riffs and lo-fi samples.

is the new baby of Meetsysteem, Tammo Hesselink & Marianne Noordzij. Born from a residency space in Arnhem (NL) as they were being snowed in over the pandemic, comforter2 became a band for club heads and a club act for band heads. Sometimes two worlds meet - and through this conversation love is found - that’s a quote from their debut album Tell Me Something Happy (Before I Fall Asleep) (2023).

Exciting news to kick off the summer: and have been selected by CultuurCulture to carry out the project “Biometrika: Exploring the Interface of Human Expression, Digital Technology, and Performing Art”.

CultuurCulture aims to create an innovative, sustainable, and inclusive cultural ecosystem, fostering collaboration between the two language communities.

We are thrilled about this selection and look forward to working together, with the support of the FARI research institute (/).
Ohme will be responsible for coordination, creating workshops, organising an artistic residency and providing technical support for artistic creation.
Pilar will function as an interdisciplinary platform for creation, enabling Ohme and the resident artist(s) to set up nomadically in its Pilar Box and Exhibition Space.

Malinconico is een wiegelied. Een magische droom. Een ritueel om de vele stemm(ing)en en gedaanten van melancholie op te roepen. Een gedeelde veilige ruimte om haar universele neerslachtigheid te ervaren, nooit om haar te definiëren, maar om te reflecteren en met haar te rusten. Om de uitgestrekte gebieden te verkennen tussen wat was en wat had kunnen zijn.

Malinconico is a lullaby. A magical dream. A ritual to summon the many moods and forms of melancholy. It provides a shared safe space to experience its universal gloom, not to define it, but to reflect on it and rest with it. It’s an exploration of the vast territories between what was and what could have been.

OPEN CALL: BRUSSELS COLLECTIVES x PILAR 🔥

Pilar is an open, artistic laboratory on the main campus of the VUB in Brussels. We are an experimentation space where future thinkers and doers can get creative. We offer enthusiastic collectives a free haven to let wild ideas grow; ideas that can be translated into small- or large-scale cultural projects.

WHAT? 👀

- Curating an exhibition in Pilar's exhibition space (September 12, 2024 – November 7, 2024).

- Curating a music program in the Pilar Box on Thursdays (September 26, 2024).

Based on the submitted proposals, a jury will shortlist 5 project proposals. The collectives on the shortlist will be invited in the second half of May to present their projects to the jury, after which the final collective will be selected.

- Artistic and production budget for both the exhibition and the music program.

- Work time and space in Pilar from June to September (maximum 15 days).

Together with architect Sébastien Tripod and graphic and floral designer Deborah Robbiano, choreographer and researcher Sara Manente is creating an installation around the fertile ruin, based on fungal imagery. Having previously created architectural fungi columns, they now aim to imagine an entire theater in collaboration with fungi and molds.

The theater turns into a compost in which process equals products and things are not stable but rather in constant decay and regrowth. A situation creating space for questions, metaphors and images around contamination and finality.

Is every encounter a form of contamination? Is every performance a ruin that could bring fruit?

aimee, , and created dreamy scenes in our Box. .aimee brought us her album 'All Above', with intense tones, and an equally intense light show. You sat down, letting the music drift over you like drops of rain. At one point, a single beam of light illuminated faces in the crowd. Your eyes closed, lost in the moment. It was beautiful.

and delivered a slightly more active set, with visuals that completely entranced us. Two artists on one stage, each tuned in with the work of the other. We left the venue in a daze. Wow.
