You’ve likely already heard about, or possibly even met, our new Occupational Therapist, Lindsay Delima. We’re beyond thrilled to have her on the team and have enjoyed immensely getting to know her and her clinical approach.

Let us tell you a bit about this wonderful human and brilliant therapist.

Lindsay is a passionate and dedicated pediatric occupational therapist with a wealth of experience spanning over seven years. Her expertise includes the SOS Approach to Feeding, which focuses on the sensory aspects of feeding difficulties and supports children in developing a positive relationship with food. She is also trained in the Beckman Oral Motor protocol, providing specialized interventions for oral motor challenges that impact speech, feeding, and overall oral function.

In addition, Lindsay has a strong foundation in sensorimotor approaches, employing strategies that integrate sensory and motor activities to enhance a child’s overall development. Her holistic approach considers the intricate connection between sensory processing, motor skills, and cognitive functions. Throughout her career, Lindsay has dedicated herself to working with children facing various developmental challenges, including sensory processing disorders, fine and gross motor delays, and difficulties in activities of daily living (feeding, dressing, toileting, etc.). Her clinical settings have ranged from school settings to private practices, allowing her to tailor interventions to the diverse needs of her clients.

Lindsay is known for her compassionate and child-centered approach. She collaborates closely with families, educators, and other healthcare professionals to create comprehensive treatment plans. Her interventions extend beyond clinical sessions, often incorporating play-based activities and home exercises to ensure sustained progress. In the ever-evolving field of pediatric occupational therapy, Lindsay strives to unlock the potential in every child she works with.

📅 To book your child in with Lindsay, follow the link in our Instagram bio or visit or website at www.canadiancentrefordevelopment.org

Celebrating Judah's 4th Intensive!

Judah's back for round 4 and we are blown away by how much he improved during his three week stay with us.

Over the span of three weeks Judah went from being able to stand for 6 seconds with random points of contact to walking the length of the PT gym with facilitation! Amazing!

Send this rock star some good energy below as he continues his journey!

Research backed therapy that works! 👍

Therapy Intensives, or Intensives, are a research backed and result producing therapy model in which the frequency and intensity of a child's therapy sessions are increased.

When compared to more traditional routes of therapy, studies have shown that children who participate in Intensive Therapy blocks outperform their control group peers.

One such study includes a 2007 Emory University School of Medicine study focused on children with hemiplegic CP, where those taking part in a 2-week intensive, accompanied by a month-long 1-2 hr/day daily home program, were compared to a control group. The treated children all saw improvements in 11 out of the 12 functions being tested, whereas the control group remained unchanged.

CCD is now accepting applications for 2024 Intensives! Want to get on the list? Click the link in our bio to learn more and apply.

Huge thanks to for generously donating some bandana bibs to the clinic!

These are super soft, high quality, hand-made bibs that a lot of our friends use to keep themselves comfy and dry during PT and OT sessions here. 🥰

Lots of kiddos already rocking them and looking amazing 🤩

Please help yourself while there are some left!

We’d like to introduce you to our newest team member, Kanika Sabhani. We’ve immensely enjoyed getting to know her these past few weeks as she gets trained up and familiarizes herself on all things SMILE. Not only is she warm and curious, but she is also one heck of a smart cookie, with a Doctorate in Physiotherapy and over 5 years of experience under her belt. We can’t wait to see all the special bonds that she will form with our clients and the goals she’ll help them reach. If you see Kanika around the clinic, be sure to say hello or if you’d like to book a session with her for your kiddo, feel free to do so through our website. Welcome, Kanika!

Who wants to talk about neuroplasticity? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ Stay with me, I’ll explain!

One of the many cool things about DMI is that by moving the body and providing new motor information, we are helping to create new neural pathways in the brain. 🧠

With every repeated exercise, your kid’s brain is learning how to lay the building blocks for further motor development. 💪
