Happy Multiculturalism Day!
Canada is a highly diverse country, that embraces and is influenced by many cultures. At EAC we are happy we get to experience so many different cultures and identities on a daily basis and take pride in advocating and maintaining an inclusive, welcoming environment for all. 💜
Today we encourage you to think about the positive ways multiculturalism has shaped your identity and influenced your daily life as a person living in Canada.
Through all the things life might throw your way, especially living with epilepsy, there are small ways you can conquer and stay positive during tough times. Managing and prioritizing your self care is key to living well with epilepsy!
Here are some simple tips:
-Make envy your enemy: Try to not compare yourself to others, and instead be proud of who you are and where you are.
-Understanding that growth takes time: Things don't happen overnight. It might take some time to reach your goals, and that is normal!
-Embrace who you are without judgement: Everything about you makes you unique. If you live with a disability embrace and accept that aspect of yourself without judging yourself.
-Make time for the things you love: If it is a hobby, person, place, thing, make sure you set aside some time with what makes you happiest.
-Prioritize things that benefit your health: Making sure you eat properly, get enough rest, exercise, etc., is key to maintaining your overall wellbeing.
-Understand that different isn't wrong or bad: If you have aspects to yourself that are different that others, that does not make you less than and there is nothing wrong with you.
If you would like to prioritize your self care and further practice positivity and mindfulness, in regard to your unique epilepsy journey, please contact [email protected]. 💜

About Us
At the Epilepsy Association of Calgary, we're passionate about supporting people whose lives have been touched by epilepsy, and we're on a mission to eliminate the fear and misunderstanding so commonly associated with epilepsy by giving the public the skills and tools needed to recognize and assist with a seizure.
Public Education teaches people how to recognize and assist with seizures, so they won’t be afraid in the event of a seizure. This service is available at no cost to employers, teachers, students, day cares, social services, or any interested organization.
We also provide Support Services for those affected by epilepsy. We use individual and group formats to help people understand, adjust, and cope. These services are a phone call away.
