Reconnection Therapy
R.T is a Somatic experience of Counselling, Health & Wellness
The last south node Lunar Eclipse was 19 YEARS AGO!
The energy right now is nothing flimsy or small, not that there is a hierarchy. An astrologer that I value, respect, and follow, Jennifer Racioppi, puts it this way "After all, eclipses bridge the past, present, and future in uncanny ways, illuminating a significant pivot in time." With everything else that is going on in the astrological sky, mercury and pluto in retrograde to name a couple, right now is BIG, Jennifer furthers the above comment with this "Eclipses serve as significant orchestral moments in the general framework of life. Notoriously they disrupt the flow of the banal and get our attention. Loudly, they come with undeniable rumbles and tumbles that force our attention to our souls' deeper longings, priorities, and purposes, causing us to face the cosmic crossroads and choose the uncomfortable. While they often feel discombobulating, they present the opportunity to forge meaningful outcomes.
So, if you feel stirred, know that the cosmic dance today and this week is exceptionally disruptive. The point is for you to reflect and change."
And how does one do that? In my experience, a few important things are, with the right intention, presence, and questions! And although I could also add some questions here, Jennifer really lands it with the below queries as a take away to think on, feel into, and spend some time pondering and giving space for. The impact of this eclipse will ripple through the week to come, so there is time. Breathe.
"Where are you? What are you doing? What are the crossroads you face? How do you want to navigate this moment of time and space?
Then, remember May 4, 2004-- where were you then? What were you doing? How did the choices you made then seed who you are now?
Last, bridge what you see behind you with where you have yet to head and decide your non-negotiables.
What are you choosing?!!"
And to end on a somatic note, listen to your body. As you read what is happening astrologically right now, does your body react/respond? Even if you don't remember 19 years ago, what is your body holding from that time? And then, see if you can be and breathe into the space where you feel sensation or emotion. See if you can be with what is happening with your body from the place of curious observation, to the best that you can. Even if the mind doesn't remember, the body does, and ultimately, how amazing is that!
In my experience and witnessing, the body is truly on your side, and although there is not a lot of support or affirmation of that in life/society, currently anyway, I have truly seen magical, miraculous and beautiful healing and integration unfold through the re-establishing of trust in ones body/self!
Take heed, be gentle, go slow. As some others have said, these are truly revolutionary acts of these times!
Respectfully,
Sara
Happy Friday, everyone. I started working at a new Wellness center called, TAOH Wellness , a couple weeks ago now, and I thought I would make a video that touches on what Somatics and Reconnection Therapy is, and also offer an EFT practice so anyone can get a brief taste of one of the modalities that I work with.
I hope you all are able to enjoy some down time this weekend.
Respectfully,
Sara
The new moon for February is this Sunday, the 19th. Being a "new" moon means the moon will be exactly between the earth and the sun, and the side lit by the sun will be facing away from us, making it hard to see the moon, if at all. For a long time, across cultures and invisible land borders , the new moon was seen as a fresh start to the coming cycle/month. In turn, this period of month is often looked at as an opportune time to look inside and see what is important to you, and where in your life would you like to set some intention(s) (if at all).
And here is where the support (and magic) of Somatic Therapy can come in. Let’s walk through an example. Say I have decided to set an intention for how I want to eat this month, so I decide to set this intention "I choose to nourish my body with whole foods that will feed and support who I am." I am also going to take this one step further and put this intention on some post-its around my home. This way I can be reminded throughout the day of my choice to take care of myself, at least food wise.
Now for the reality. There is absolutely part of this intention that is true and real inside me, and there are also parts of me that don't believe I will make healthy choices, that don't believe I am worth this type of tending/time, that want to sabotage my initiative (to keep me safe and where I am at right now, comfortable). Different people/counsellors/therapists , etc., will respond differently to these inner voices, imprints, and the unconscious happenings too. One of the reasons I love and value Somatic Therapy so much is that the above statement “I choose to nourish…” cannot only plant seeds in the sub/unconscious, but this statement can be used to heal, release and integrate aspects of self, that disagree with, or even get triggered by my want to nourish myself. Using this statement in a safe space with a person, therapist or counsellor I trust, to intentionally poke and trigger the parts that feel resistance or do not believe that I have the capacity to tend myself with nourishing food, will be touched on. At this important threshold of feelings/emotions surfacing in the body, there is an amazing opportunity to allow the body/mind/spirit to experience a healing. When feelings and emotions surface, instead of trying to fix, figure out, or change them, space is given to feel, to allow the body and what is held there a breath, space, and a supportive witness. I deeply believe that a person does not have to relive any form of trauma or pain in order to heal from it, and grow forth from the lessons and wisdom gleaned. The Body Keeps the Score1, and again, when given space to feel when the unconscious has been triggered, regardless of the catalyst, there is an opportunity to heal. By offering presence, breathing, feeling, and sometimes weaving in EFT (emotional freedom technique), other ERT (emotional release therapy), subtle movement, sound, and breathing techniques. I have been so fortunate to personally experience, and witness the freedom, expansiveness, and gifts of reclaimed power through the art and practice of Somatic therapy.
Now with all this said: what and where would you like to put some intention or energy for the coming month? What seeds are calling to be planted in the fertile ground of your unconscious?
With the utmost respect,
Sara
Now this statement.
"When you finally learn that a person's behavior has more to do with their internal struggle then it ever did with you, you learn grace."
I find it freeing, and it also conjures up compassion, as ultimately I don't know what is going on for the majority of people, so perhaps reacting to/at their behavior just contributes to their trauma, pain, etc...
I'm definitely not saying that this choice of responding is easy, and, when I'm able to remember to not take it personally, it truly feels freeing.
What's true for you?
Let's chat about emotions and feelings.
How comfortable are you at revealing to others what is actually happening inside for you? Do you find it easy, uncomfortable, hard, or not possible, to be real and honest when someone says "how are you?"
There seems to be a societal norm, where the answer to "how are you?" is not about how you really are, but a brief greeting that in asking, also seems to come with an expected anticipated answer that will support the busyness of life, the more surface living of socializing, and the normalized distracted reaction of "don't actually be honest", so in turn most people (in this area of the world) say "I'm fine" or "I'm good" or "Not to bad"...
So, where in life then, is there a regular opportunity to really drop in and respond with the honest truth? Do you have that, do you not?
I would be honoured to support some conversations here about the real, raw, nitty gritty of life. Where questions can be put forth, where curiosities can be shared, where not knowing, and exploring that has space and respect.
I'd like to welcome some leaning in to this world of feeling and emotion. Coming to communicate with ones body, through listening, responding, learning and much more, has the opportunity to build somatic relationship that can reveal how ones body is really 'on your side', that the feels and sensations that come up in the body are a constant guide and personal navigation system that is you own map and understanding to life. What if learning your bodies language offered up freedom, connection, power, respect, trust, and more?
Greetings!
Well, this official FB launch actually feels a bit fun.
Today... is a special day, It's Summer Solstice! And in honour of this long light, I have decided to finally launch the FB page for my practice! I feel excited about offering some tidbits here. Whether quotes, questions, pictures, stories, complimentary exercises, tapping videos etc.
When I decided to study at The Northern Star, the pull was from a place deep inside me, almost what felt like {within} my bones... I never thought I would study there to in turn form a career or service, I just needed to remember and learn what was being offered there. Now, from my own sitting with, engaging with, life pulling on the parts of me, and circumstances aligning... I have created a practice that feels important, aligned, and exciting.
I hope I can continue to do service and honour to the teachings and skills that have been handed/taught & shared with me! To all my teachers- human, nature, spirit, and that which I'm not sure has words to describe, Thank You!
