Lucy's Brown Trunk
Located at Rocky Mountain Antique Mall - Booth #12 Lucy's Brown Trunk was created in 2020. Named after my Grandmother Lucien. She would have been 11 yrs old.
I inherited her steam trunk which was purchased used in 1919 as they couldn't afford to buy a new one. She estimated that the trunk was around 40 yrs old when they bought it. It's pictured as my profile pic.
Today's feature items:
A 1950's floral cloth sewing box
A set of 2 wooden and copper candle holders
A fantastic embroidered halter top from the 1970's size large and a hand blown art glass blue bird. I actually have 2 of these.
Hope everyone has a great long weekend. Don't forget to wear sun screen.
One of the top ten love stories of all time - Love Story - Written by Erich Segal in 1970 (First Edition). A tragic tale of two college students Oliver and Jenny. The movie is pretty fantastic too.
It's in terrific condition being that it's 54 yrs old.
Beside it, is a cast iron fire starter smudge cauldron with brass lid and pumice wand. Perfect for the cabin or camping.
Pretty in pink and white with a splash of colour. Tumble-ups, once again a popular item to have sitting by your bedside. This one is hand painted with spring flowers.
Fun fact: East Coast butter and West Coast butter are not the same size, which explains the different sizes in butter dishes. This is a pretty purple ceramic butter dish from Le Creuset. Regardless of the size of your butter, it's sure to fit.
Today's feature item is a beautiful 6 piece set of French crystal Baccarat wine glasses in the Massena pattern. Each etched on the bottom and with fantastic detail. Perfect for any occasion, Christmas, Easter, the head table at a wedding or Friday afternoon. Top quality and at a very reasonable price, especially compared to on-line pricing.
Rocky Mountain Antique Mall will be open Holiday Monday from 10 to 5:30, if you decide to stop in for a walkabout, don't forget to check out booth #12. You never know what you'll find as I restock on a regular basis.
Lucy's Brown Trunk - Worth the Drive - Always a Surprise
Not sure about you folks but I am very thankful for all the rain. It's fantastic. The grass and trees have finally popped and it's staring to look green. Speaking of green, here's a wonderful ceramic flower frog from Dept 56, a butterfly paperweight from Kosta Boda sitting under the Laurel Birch Cat mug, and a hand blown art glass polar bear by Daniel Vargas.
Ring a ding ding - Did someone say more cow bell or how about the bells of LAL. It's soon to be flower season, this sleeve has four books in it. How about a terrific Laurel Birch cat mug and I have to mention the picture of a guy taking a bath. Fun stuff. Oh yah, a wonderful mint condition mid-century green umbrella with a protective sleeve, perfect for the rain we are currently having.
All kinds of wonderful goodies. A hand painted toil tray, enamel watering can and colander, hand painted Japanese Teapot for one, Chunky wooden wall mount mug rack or you can use it for hats, coats. 6 beautiful swirl glasses. All kinds of linens, including April Cornell table cloths and apron - just to name a few. Open from 11 to 5 daily - Booth #12 at Rocky Mountain Antique Mall - Gateway Blvd.

Glassful vs Glassybaby - What exactly is going on here? They both come in numerous colors, very similar in shape, one is larger and heavier than the other and they both have the same Triskelion design on the bottom. Glassybaby is made in Seattle by Lee Rhodes and from my research Glassful is made right here in Alberta. Are they affiliated? Which came first. Glassybaby 1995 - Glassful if I'm right 1991/92. Something doesn't add up. Either way, both are fantastic, very pretty and sought after. If anyone knows the truth of the matter, let me know. I'm very curious about the situation.
This is an amazing vessel, even though it's a plain Jane. It's a very heavy and old piece that I believe is Bronze. It does not come across as brass or pewter, though it could be a mix. I'm no expert. But I can say that from the weight and coloring it is not something that I've come across before.
A copper embossed framed picture of the Black Madonna. Byzantine in origin and found through out the world as a Catholic and Orthodox icon.
Time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking - into the future.
A pretty brass and enamel clock that still works once wound up. Tic toc, tic, tic, tic, tic. Also a pretty brass and enamel lidded trinket dish to hold your treasures.
Here's another fantastic piece. It could be hung on a wall (you'd have to set it up) or as a carpet, maybe even put it on your favorite chair. It's from Peru and yes, made out of Alpaca.
Did somebody say "Tiki Party"? Well, maybe not today, but soon. If you love the Golden Girls, then this one is for you. It's Blanche, in all her glory. How fun.
This is a gorgeous piece of art glass by famed artist Daniel Vargas. Taught by his dad when he was just a boy. He has amazing artwork and I'm happy to have this piece in my booth. The colour is a brilliant emerald green with golden flecks and is also signed. Who doesn't love a polar bear?
Ok, last one for today. This is a beautiful Italian art glass Sommerso triangular bowl in turquoise and amethyst. Good weight, polished bottom and just an amazing piece. Candies, jewellery or a statement piece on it's own.
Little Mickey is back, just hanging out. He's from the early 1960's from the California Toy Company. I consider him to be rare because of his colours. His outfit colours are not typical. Mickey is in fantastic condition being that he's over 60 yrs old and looking for a forever home and somebody to love him.
I don't know about you but I like trinket boxes. They come in all shapes, sizes and materials. This one, is a hand crafted lacquered box from Kashmir. The colours are rich in green and gold with a very unusual scene. I'll leave the scene to your own interpretation. It's actually a really good size as usually these boxes are small. It definitely has age and is in mint condition. Maybe not for everyone but for someone. It's a conversational piece for sure.
Today's feature is a signed Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966) framed lithograph. I'm not sure of the title but it's fantastic. He's famed for his paintings, murals and illustrations from the Golden Age era. He was also an illustrator for calendars, magazine covers and books. He illustrated Tanglewood Tails in 1910 of which, I happen to have a copy in my booth (it's not illustrated though).
All kinds of treasures
Today's feature item is a 9 piece studio art ceramic tea set. Unique and whimsical, each piece signed by the artist. Most likely from the 70's/80's. Teapot, sugar, creamer and 6 mugs. I'd say it's one of a kind, each piece is unique and oddly shaped with different features. Not all pieces are shown in this picture.
Feeling a little naughty today
Here Kitty, Kitty - he's so cute. I love those big eyes.
Rocky Mountain Antique Mall has extended their hours for this Holiday Monday. Grab the kids and take a stroll down the numerous isles. It's a fun place to hang out, for Family Day. They'll get to see all kinds of things they've never seen before. A history lesson.
Don't for get to check out Booth #12 down isle #1.
Lucy's Brown Trunk - Worth the Drive - Always a Surprise
He's fantastic, he's Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. The majority of the ones I've seen are all plastic. This beauty of a guy is flocked and has a real mane and tail. Fun movie.
Today's focus is on this beautiful oil painting, it's old and it is signed, but not able to make out the signature. Also pictured are a set of 4 Waterford wine glasses.
You know what, I'm not done. I have vintage belts in excellent condition - Lee, Fossil, Lucky Brand, Harley Davidson suspenders, also purses and wallets - Fossil, Hobo International, Betsey Johnson, Icon - just to name a few. All in fantastic condition and very reasonably priced.
I got T-Shirts, some vintage and some modern - Rock Band Tour Tees and non-tour - Eminem, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, U2 - just to name a few. Also available are Dragon Ball Z, Bob's Burgers, 1982 official Rambo - Sizes range from Medium to XLarge. All tour tees have Edmonton on them. You can't have my 1981 Styx or my Journey tee, but the ones available are fun.
