π» Prost, beer enthusiasts! π»
Question of the day: What's older than the "Alt" style of beer? π€π©πͺ
On day 6 of PMQ Restaurant's beer tour, we're sipping on the delightful PINKUS MΓLLER Organic MΓΌnster Alt. πΊ This pale, golden beauty boasts an herbaceous aroma, a delicate fruit-acid palate, and a long dry finish. It's truly a taste of tradition!
But here's the twist, "Alt" in German means "old" or "original." π°οΈ And the Alt style is indeed older than many German lager styles. Today, this ale is a specialty of Westphalia, in Northern Germany. π
So, while we enjoy this classic brew, let's raise a glass to the OG of German beer styles! π»
π» Prost! Wer ist bereit fΓΌr bei PMQ Restaurant? π©πͺπ₯¨ We've got 1L beer steins, but can you handle the fun? πΊπ Who's ready to raise a glass to the ultimate festivity? πΊπ

π» Day 4 of the PMQ Restaurant Beer Tour: Can you handle the XX Bitter by Brouwerij De Ranke? π§πͺπΊ
Hey beer enthusiasts, on our hoppy adventure through German and Belgian brews, we've stumbled upon something that's truly π«π«traordinary! π€
Introducing the XX Bitter IPA - Belgian style, a blond and bold masterpiece by Brouwerij De Ranke. π» With 6% vol. Alc., it's a real powerhouse in the world of bitterness! But trust us, it's the good kind of bitter that makes you smile. π
This beer is like a dance between pale pilsner malt and a hoppy symphony of Brewers Gold and Hallertau flowers. πΌ The result? A perfect blend that's earned its stripes both nationally and internationally. π
When you pour it, you'll notice two faces: one bright and clear like a sunny day, and the other mysterious and murky like a secret garden. ππ And oh, that head! It's big, fluffy, and oh-so-long-lasting, just like your love for beer. π»π
Now, onto the flavors - expect yeast, Belgian phenolic cloveyness, nutmeg, and coriander swirling around your senses. π It's like a Belgian carnival in your mouth! πͺ And here's the twist: a dash of pear and orchard fruits, with a subtle earthy bitterness that keeps you on your toes. π£
Surprisingly, there's a bit of alcohol warmth too, but hey, that's the XX Bitter's way of saying hello. π»π
Mouthfeel? Smooth as a well-practiced waltz. πΊπ
So, beer aficionados, have you tried this trendsetter for bitter ales in Belgium? Share your thoughts below! π€© And remember, when life gives you bitterness, embrace it with a cold XX Bitter! π»π§πͺ

π» Prost! π©πͺ Day three of our beer adventure at PMQ Restaurant takes us to the picturesque Bavarian Alps, home to Ayinger BrΓ€uweisse. ποΈ This family-owned gem has been brewing since 1878, and we're diving into their wheat beer tradition today. πΎ
Have you ever wondered what a true South German-style wheat beer tastes like? Well, Ayinger's BrΓ€uweisse is the answer! πΊ With a 50% barley-50% wheat ratio, it's like a balanced dance between grains. ππΊ
π Inhale the aromas of banana, pear, candied lemon, a hint of light clove, and sweet brown bread β it's like a stroll through a Bavarian bakery! π₯ππ
π Sip away, and feel this unfiltered wheat ale coat your mouth like a cozy blanket. ποΈ
Now, the real question is: Can you crack a good German pun with your beer buddies? π€ Let's hear your wittiest beer-related joke in the comments! π»

π» Question Time! π€ Can you handle a "Gose"-rious brew? Our second beer on the PMQ Restaurants Walk in September is "Saltwater Joys Gose" by the Church Brewing Co. π©πͺ
ππ Wondering what's inside this German-inspired kettle sour? Aromas of lemon π, lime π, and bold flavors of orange π and citrus π await your taste buds. Plus, there's a perfectly balanced sour zip at the finish. π€€
But did you know the history behind Gose? Pronounced "GO-zuh," it's a sour wheat beer born in Goslar, Germany, where the Gose River flowed. π This historic beer used a "gruit" mix with coriander as the spice of choice. πΏ Hops weren't initially used until later.
π°οΈ βChurch Brewingβ has given this old-world style a modern twist, brewing it with lactobacillus culture and American Ale yeast to create a contemporary Gose. πΊ Prost! π©πͺ
βIt was spaetzle that brought me to my senses. Spaetzle, if you do not know, are the very flowers of all foods made with flour. They are tiny bits of soft noodle dough, boiled to light and lovely perfection, and served with butter or gravy... One servingspoonful of spaetzle is like the opening measures of Vivaldi's Four Seasons: Any man who walks out early on either proves he doesn't understand the genre-and he misses the repose of the end.β - Robert Farrar Capon, The Supper of the Lamb. .
