DIY Plumbing vs. Calling the Pros!
Got a leaky faucet? You might be able to handle that with a wrench and some plumber’s tape. But if you’ve got a burst pipe or sewage backup, it’s time to call in the experts. Here are a few plumbing fixes you can DIY at home and for when it’s time to call in the pros.
Know your limits and save yourself the headache (and the flood)! 💦
Money down the drain.
Just not sure which one.
Tag a plumber who can relate !
Cheers to all the fantastic plumbers on our team! Your dedication keeps things flowing smoothly.
Happy World Plumbing Day!
🎉🔧Flowing into the New Year with gratitude and good vibes! Wishing you a year of smooth sailing and leak-free days from La Bounty Plumbing. May 2024 bring you prosperity, comfort, and stress-free plumbing solutions!
We at La Bounty, wish you a Christmas filled with joy and prosperity. On behalf of all our staff, we would like to wish you a very happy and safe holiday!
We’re here to tell you that Moen from Home Depot and Moen from the wholesalers are not the same thing.
You see, all brands have different levels of what they make, and the price reflects. The reason why you may be saving money at some big box stores is that the internal pieces are not of the same quality than the ones at the wholesale. And this means the warranty is different too.
The reason why we only use produsct from the wholesalers is because that’s the only way we can guarantee the product. We don’t want to put something in your home that is going to leak soon, so we won’t take any chances.
One of our team members, Jon, is off to Comox for provincials this weekend in the BC’s Strongest Man & Woman competition in Comox BC!! He has put in so much hard work to get to this point, and we are so excited for him. Good luck this weekend Jon!!
Happy birthday to our founder Cody La Bounty!
We hope you have a great day and an even better year to come.
❤️
Thank you Kamloops!
We love what we do, and it feels great to see that you love how we do it!
We appreciate all of our clients and the amazing team we have that makes the magic happen every day!
Often times, customers assume they have a leaky pipe in their home and after calling us to come have a look, we discover that it's not the plumbing at all.
Save yourself a possible service call by checking the following first:
1️⃣ Roof flashings- If your flashing isn't properly installed, water can get behind your home's gutter and eventually leak into vour basement.
2️⃣ Has there been a recent rainfall or snowmelt? The slope of your lawn and whether there is appropriate drainage away from your home could be the culprit.
3️⃣ Are your gutter drainage pipes facing the right way? Sometimes during the winter snow removal process, they can get disoriented and do exactly the opposite of what you want them to.
This home is now so much more energy efficient thanks to this new boiler install!
Not only does it heat the floors and hot water, but it also keeps the pool at the perfect temperature.
An average home with a pool would have a central air heating system , a hot water tank and an outdoor pool heater.
It's amazing how one appliance can do so much - goodbye to multiple gas lines and venting systems, and hello to a simpler, more efficient heating system!
Check these things off you list before your plumber shows up to help you save time and money.
✔️Clear the area:
Make sure that the area around the plumbing fixtures you need to be fixed or serviced is clear of any obstructions. Remove any furniture, appliances, or other items that could prevent your plumber from accessing the plumbing fixtures.
✔️Locate Your Water Supply
Locate the main water shutoff valve for your home before your plumber arrives. They will need to know where it is, so this could save time on your call.
✔️Collect Information
Write down any information you can provide about the issue. This can include any symptoms you've noticed, how long the issue has been occurring, and any previous work that has been done on your plumbing system.
We love this event and can’t wait to be there!

In all of the Christmas excitement, don’t forget that a little maintenance goes a long way!
When was the last time you checked your thermostat batteries? It might be worth checking off your list before the big day…
No one wants to have to take the batteries out of Timmy’s new remote control car in order to keep the heat on! 😉
Just the tips Tuesday- filter edition
Want to avoid paying for a service call when you could have taken 5 minutes and spent 5 dollars?
Change your filter often!!
Here’s the story about how this can avoid an unnecessary service call:
The furnace filter on a clients home was not changed since the summer.
The cold spell hit in November, casing the the furnace to work hard, and it overheated due to the lack of airflow from the clogged filter. The safety measures in the furnace cut the heat off like it’s supposed to.
The home owner needed a service call to get it running again.
This could have all been avoided with a little maintenance and a new filter. Keep some on hand and set an alarm on your phone so you don’t need to try and remember!
We are so excited to congratulate our longtime employee Jon and his fiancé Michelle on their engagement!
They make such a great team and we wish them nothing but the best in the coming years.
Little know fact- Matchmaker Sarah LaBounty set these 2 up a couple years ago and the rest is history! 💕
🎉
When in doubt, don’t let a plumber borrow your tool belt! 😬
𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆
A forced air system with air conditioning produces a lot of condensation throughout the summer cooling season.
If your furnace is equipped with A/C, there is a small pipe that has drain lines for all the condensation.
These lines get clogged up with the solids and dirty water produced by the cooling system.
Over time these drains can get blocked and water will start to back up into the furnace or cause water damage.
Regular maintenance is critical for the longevity of your unit.
Meet Eli 👋🏽
This is Eli’s second summer working at
La Bounty.
We loved having him in our team but we have to say goodbye for now as he is heading off to university to pursue computer sciences.
“I never would have thought jackhammering would be part of being a plumber when I first started working here last summer.”
And somehow, Eli says his specialty is digging trenches, along with jackhammering 😂
He says he enjoyed learning useful and versatile skills and being able to work with his hands.
Outside of work he likes to go hunting, fishing, work out, and train Brazilian jiu jitsu.
Best of luck to you Eli!
Morning snuggles. 🐈
Meet Mike S 👋🏽
Mike has been with labounty for 10 years!!
You may ask what’s kept him here so long… Well we’ll tell you, great coworkers, great employer, the other trades we work along side.
Mike loves the variety of work and jobs everyday and utilizes his specialty In technical problem solving paired with years of experience in boiler installations and repairs and gas installations.
When Mikes not with us at Labounty, he loves quailty time with his family and spending time outdoors, fishing, camping, and mountain biking!

Mike T has worked for LaBounty Plumbing for almost 6 yrs.
Mikes favorite part about working for LaBounty Plumbing is that its been proven to him that he’s not just a number. Also Mike enjoys finish plumbing! Seeing the choices everyone chooses and the finesse it takes to make it aesthetically pleasing.
His number one specialty is the ability to think outside the box to solve complicated problems.
In the 15 yrs experience he has in the pipe trade, Mike feels he has become a well rounded plumber, but fixing things is a strong suit of his.
“A funny favorite moment for me was the first time I saw Casey, Mike S. and Rhyes break out in an air band dance party on a rough-in.”
An interesting fact that Mike would like to share is: ” It has been said that Plumbers have saved more lives than doctors. The truth is, the biggest reason disease is in control throughout the world is because of the modern water infrastructure. Modern day sewage systems and clean water have eradicated disease and saved lives.”
And lastly, a lovely look into Mike T’s softer side “I love spending time with family doing whatever adventure we come up with or just relaxing, gardening barefoot and sitting on the back porch watching the clouds pass are a few of the things I enjoy doing.”
𝕎𝕖𝕕𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕓𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕤 𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕘!
The whole crew had the honour of celebrating one of our own yesterday and what a time was had!! Cheers to this wonderful couple 🥂

Gavin has been a part of the Labounty team for 3 years now.
His favourite part of the job is new house rough-ins, under slabs, and renovations.
Gavin has the most knowledge in renovations and water piping.
A few fun facts about Gavin are:
• He’s the oldest in his family
• Big sports guy
• Loves going camping
• Can speak 2 languages
We’ll take your guess below as to what languages Gavin is bilingual in ⬇️⬇️
𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒚 👋🏽
Casey has worked at LaBounty since 2011 and Cody has been Casey’s supervisor all through his apprenticeship before at their previous company, since 2008!
Casey’s favourite part about working here is the people- in his opinion, the best crew and in office staff around!
“All of the people I work with have been here for a long time and we‘be gotten to know each very well! We hang out and get to be involved in each other's lives a fair bit! This keeps work fun, and we also have each other's backs when things go sideways.”
Casey would say that his specialty is in organizing, planning, keeping jobs on track, and looking after the details.
He’d also like to add that he gets stuck with doing a fair bit of PEX pipe install… (inside joke for other plumbers).
"There’s never a dull moment at Labounty, and we have a lot of inside jokes and funny memories of clients and apprentices. We have all had our screwup moments that the rest of the crew does not let you forget…"
When Casey’s not working he’s spending time with his wife Andrea, 3 girls Addison 10, Emily 8 , Rylee 4. His hobbies including gardening, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, church life, guitar, driving kids to gymnastics and doing all the regularly Dad life duties!
One of Casey’s biggest accomplishments is attending and graduating TRU Kamloops for all plumbing training!

Dan has been with Labounty for almost 2 years and mostly enjoys working with the entire group on a big project.
There is a fun energy when we are all on site together and the music is playing and the work is getting done.
Dan’s specialty is finding the hardest way to do something instead of the smartest 😉
When he’s not making inside jokes about “Omineca” to Cody and Sean.. He’s either fishing, hunting or spending time with his family!
Oh, and his favourite part of the job is actually the schooling. Dan loves geeking out with the code books and the new stuff being taught 🤓
