Tomorrow is final goodbye to our fantastic grade 12 musicians, as well as a showcase of all the work every group has done in the music department this year. Thank you for a another amazing year of music.

KSS's Choral Concert this spring is at St. Michael's Cathedral, Saturday, June 1st! Come show your support for our Chamber Choir and Vocal Jazz at this upcoming event 🎤💛

Our KSS Jazz Bands and Vocal Jazz will be performing 7:00pm this Thursday at the Laurel Packinghouse with amazing trombonist Bob Rogers! Tickets are available at the door—our musicians hope to see you there!

The KSS Jazz and Vocal Department has been busy these past three months! Between our Jazz Showcase, Combo Night, New York and Whistler Trips (including a workshop and adjudication with ), a mass choir performance with choral groups , , , and , an amazing concert and workshops from , , , and , and time in the classroom, the students have had countless experiences! Fuzzion Two!! This is our (unorthodox) combo consisting of some of our talented gr.11 and gr.12 musicians. They play music outside the real book and have a long set of jazz video game music repertoire. See them at our combo concert March 12 along with all of our other amazing combos 🎶🎺

Jazz at the Laurel will be held Friday, December 8th at 7pm at The Laurel Packinghouse on Ellis Street. Our Jazz Bands and Vocal Jazz will be performing! Can't wait to see you there 🎶✨️

Jazz Band 11 has been working on a number of tunes this past month 🎶 come them at our winter concert December 5th!

COMBO FEATURE 💬 THE OYE COMO V

The Oye Como V is the grade 12 jazz combo for our 2023-2024 year. They have been playing together since September of 2021 and are currently working on tunes such as Cherokee, Well You Needn't and A Night in Tunisia. See them at our combo concert in December 🎵

Vocal Jazz is back in session 👀

Our 2023-2024 school year concert schedule is now out! Musicians, mark your calendars and make sure to bring your friends and family 🎶

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, the speakers were blasting Thelonious Monk’s Underground, with the soulful Charlie Rouse!
Louis Armstrong blew his trumpet with care, giving his take on the latest news,
While Charlie Parker responded on alto sax, playing a masterfully crafted blues!
The Ellington Orchestra followed suit for sure, with a brass n sax extravaganza,
Then the Basie Orchestra piped in some of that hot *** swang, in a dancer’s dance and jump bonanza!
James Brown and the JB Horns made the womens wild with excitement,
While Stevie Wonder and the former Prince provided funky refrains of enlightenment!
Lo and behold in that Uptown crib, there was more than a little delight,
When Old St. Nick dropped off the final toy, and declared, “To all, a very good night!!!”

The music department has concerts for both Monday and Tuesday. We’ll see you next week!!
