The never ending quest for the perfect camping spot.

Thank you to Ian Harrill for sending in this trip report of a recent adventure to Haida Gwaii in their new Northern Lite. This is a truck camper bucket list trip!

"We just returned from a 3 week exploration of British Columbia’s interior and then over to the magical islands of Haida Gwaii. It was our first major excursion in our Northern Lite 8 11 LE and one which left us in awe of the travel flexibility it offers. This round trip started in F***y Bay on Vancouver Island and took us through Squamish, Whistler, up through Pemberton to Lilloet and on along highway 97 to Williams Lake, and Quesnel, where we took a diversion over to Barkerville. Experiencing the old gold rush age and the arts community in wells was such a memory for us. Then it was back on the road meandering north the Prince George, Smithers, Terrace, Canada’s newest lava flows north of Terrace (which wiped out thousands of indigenous people) and then on to Prince Rupert. Ferries were no problem and that took us over to Haida Gwaii (Formerly Queen Charlotte Islands) and finally back to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island where we drove home to F***y Bay.

In our entire time we never really scheduled any itinerary and simply went where the wind blew us……such a fun and surprising way to travel. Every day presented yet another unanticipated surprise…..sites we didn’t know about until we encountered them or yet another animal sighting. It dawned on us that we never would have experienced the serendipity of new unplanned fun/exciting things without the flexibility and comfort offered by our new camper. We are delighted by the world of travel opportunity our camper has given us.

Haida Gwaii was beautiful, remote and utterly astounding. Visiting the stunning coastline at Agate Beach on the north end of Haida Gwaii in Naikoon Provincial park, for most, is a day trip as there’s no overnight accommodation. Our camper allowed us to stay several days on a beach campground and gave us an experience most won’t get and one we won’t forget….it was an experience of a lifetime for us

This trip will be a lifelong memory for my wife and I …. Waterfalls, history, culture, seas, beaches, rivers, ancient lava flows and really nice people. This wouldn’t have happened in the way it did without our new Northern Lite camper."

Exploring the world in a truck camper changes your perspective. You tend to slow down. Becoming more mindful. Absorbing the little things along the way to wherever you are going.
This photo reflects that change of state. Taken 20 minutes from the Northern Lite factory, this is a spot we have driven quickly past countless times along a busy highway. Never really seeing it.
On this day, with a truck camper loaded, we weren't in a rush to get anywhere... we pulled onto a side road... and were rewarded with such a stunning view. Enjoy the journey.
