"The NFRF Exploration program inspires high-risk, high-reward and interdisciplinary research. Researchers supported by the program are encouraged to think outside of the box and undertake research that would defy current paradigms, brings disciplines together in unexpected ways, and has the potential to be disruptive or deliver game-changing impacts. The funded projects from Queen’s will receive the maximum value of support, $250,000 over two years."

CONGRATULATIONS to Patrick Drouin, who was awarded a Governor General's Gold Medal for his PhD dissertation!
Patrick's dissertation (The Role of Oxygen Delivery in Mediating Voluntary Excitation Contraction Coupling: An Oxygen Conforming Response of Muscle Contraction Force) was completed in September 2023, and supervised by Dr. Tschakovsky.
The Governor General's Gold Medal is the most prestigious award that students in Canadian schools can receive, and they recognize the outstanding scholastic achievements of students at secondary, post-secondary, and graduate levels.
This is an incredible achievement, and we couldn't be prouder of Dr. Drouin!

Conference opportunity: NeuraSeed BCI invites students and faculty from the SKHS to attend the NeuraSeed BCI Expo '24 free of charge via a 3D virtual environment on the afternoon of August 2nd, 2024.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in medicine, material sciences, engineering, computer science, biotechnology, psychology, philosophy and much more. Attendees will be able to network with leaders in industry and research, explore virtual exhibitions, participate in Q&A sessions, and enter an essay competition for a grand prize. Researchers in the field are also able to share their work in a virtual poster showcase. For students wanting to make a difference! Consider applying for the Disability and Physical Activity Certificate (DIPA)- a certificate program recognized by Queen’s University. DIPA is for students interested to learn more about and participate in community-based programming for persons experiencing a disability. Students in the certificate program will get an opportunity to work closely with persons from a variety of populations who attend the Revved Up exercise program. If you are considering a career in healthcare or working with persons experiencing disability you will gain valuable experience in addition to academic skills through participation in DIPA.

"Some might say that we need to know our history so we don't repeat it," Szto told me over text. "I am starting to feel more like we need to know our history so we understand how much it takes to create any movement of the needle, and how easily that can be undone.
