Corwhin Herbs & Produce
Growing a good variety of herbs, vegetables and rhubarb. Located halfway between Guelph and Milton. I like to grow plants, I like fresh air.
We offer a 20/18/16 weekly and a 10/9/8 every-other-week CSA/farm share/veggie box for the June to October growing season. Herbs are interesting characters and vegetables help fill We do take custom orders as well. In the spring there's lots of rhubarb. If you are looking a certain quantity, please ask us before we start planting so adjustments can be made as we plant what we plan for. We don't have set hours of being open. Please contact in advance.
Produce stand open this weekend. I grew it, you can eat it.
Last weekend I participated in the first business showcase for my township. I got my phone angle mixed up a bit while capturing video.
One of my larger crops is potatoes. The soil and climate here does well with this crop. Harvesting it is done by hand.
Part two of a walkabout around the farm to see what is growing.
Part one of a walkabout on the farm going through what I am growing. I had to break the video up as it wouldn't load.
From last month. My battle with pests.
Finally getting to this video after almost two weeks. There isn't much time during planting season to work on a computer. This video is about my offering of asparagus and rhubarb to those who signed up by St Patricks Day. These crops are out typically out of season by the time the Farmshare/CSA starts. And, by signing up early I can plan how much to plant.
Rhubarb is ready. $3.50 a pound. Harvest to order. One of the largest patches in the Guelph-Milton area.
With mice being a major pest in my garden plots and methods used not deterring or eliminating them, I am trying something new. I have made a prototype for a type of cloche to cover seedlings so they can have a better chance of surviving. It's not very efficient to work up the soil, buy seeds, plant, then have nothing to show for it a month later. Will this work or will it be a waste of energy? Time and testing will tell.
A few weeks ago I moved tomato seedlings from seed tray cells to four inch pots. This will let their roots have more room to develop. All the seedlings I've started indoors are taking up a lot of space and I've had to acquire more grow lights and shelves to keep them going.
April 1 was the last day I boiled sap. Inbetween taking care of the wood stoves, I was doing prep work for the upcoming spring. This is a glimpse of what I do on the farm.
Asparagus is hard to w**d. I am going down to just one row from two. Because of that, I'm willing to give away small chunks of it.
I have been using cold frames for starting some seedlings once the weather gets better in past years. After seeing a pre-made one on social media, I decided to build a bigger one, with materials on the farm. One that takes up less of a footprint.
Starting seeds indoors has begun. I've already started tomatoes, peppers and eggplant, which need a head start as they are tropical plants. Next was cabbage, kale and broccoli, as they will be planted outside earlier than most other crops.
At the beginning of March I tapped sugar maple trees to collect sap. Some people on my road started in January. It's been a strange winter, though not much of a winter. Because of that, most of the sap production seems to already have happened, so I missed a fair bit. Though I wouldn't have had time to boil it if I did tap earlier. As I post this video, my maple syrup season is now pretty much at its end.
There is some equipment my business has outgrown or I don't use. Maybe some of it can be of use to someone else. You don't know unless you speak up.
Lots of butternut squash harvested for the winter today.
As heat loving crops fade, I'm still planting those that can handle cool nights and frost. Food can still grow in the fall.

Our Story
I like to grow plants. I was raised on a farm and the production of food has been the focus of my upbringing and what my family revolved around. I’ve taken plant growing and applied it to herbs, vegetables and some fruit. What was an interest, I’ve made into a business. I offer a CSA, also known as a veggie box or a farm share each growing season. Here, anyone can subscribe to 18 weeks of fresh vegetables and whatever else I have available (an every-other-week option has been added for 2020). It’s basically eating plants fresh from the garden but someone else (me) does the work. Each week in those 18 weeks, I layout a spread of recently harvested vegetables, herbs and sometimes fruit for my subscribed customers to pick what they want to take home with them. Of course there is a board written on it with how much there is in their “share” of the harvest that week. Not only can you get fresh produce so much closer geographically than what’s in the grocery store, you can see where and how it is grown. Farm shares start in June and go to October. If you are interested, please contact me before I start growing so I can plan how much to plant!
