It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Haygouhie Marandjian on August 16, 2024.

Haygouhie was born in a Christian family in Lebanon during the great depression. She was the eldest daughter of Penyamin and Lucine Orchanian. She was a special and cherished aunt of seven nieces and four nephews. She was also a great-aunt to ten children and great-great aunt to two children. She loved and cared deeply for them all.

Dearly beloved wife of Sarkis Marandjian; sister of Anna Boujikian (deceased), Nevere Bahoudian, Haroutiun Orchanian (deceased), and Sam Orchanian. She was a special and cherished aunt of four nephews and seven nieces. She was also a grand-aunt to ten children and great-grand aunt to two children. She loved and cared deeply for them all.

Haygouhie was an instrumental helper in her family from a very young age. She was an industrious worker and was the right-hand helper to her mother and father. At the time, she did not have the opportunity for advanced schooling, but that did not deter her from continuously learning throughout her life. She was very smart and hard-working, and strived for perfection in everything she did, including learning to speak English after she immigrated to Toronto, Canada on May 1, 1965.

Haygouhie was an accomplished seamstress and worked in this field for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking delicious meals! She attended the Armenian Evangelical Church in Toronto and was an active and dear member of the church.

Haygouhie married Sarkis Marandjian on Dec. 17, 1983. Together
they supported many projects with AMAA/AMAC and Hayastan Foundation in Artsakh and Armenia. Haygouhie’s Christian faith has been strong from a very young age, and she loved the Lord God who was her guide, her strength and her anchor throughout her life.

She is deeply missed by family and a whole host of relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held with the family at Armenian Evangelical Church of Toronto at 9:30 AM on Saturday August 24, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 AM and the burial at York Cemetery. Following burial, a reception will be held at the Armenian Evangelical Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Armenian Evangelical Church of Toronto in her memory. Donations can be made via Paypal at https://aectoronto.com/donate/ or via e-transfer to [email protected].

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for the outpouring of love towards Haygouhie and for your generous support and prayers at this difficult time.

Happy Canada Day from AMAC!

On Monday, July 1, as we celebrate the 157th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation, we send our heartfelt wishes to all our friends and fellow Canadians.

This Canada Day, we reflect on our nation's legacy of freedom, prosperity, and adherence to the Christian values of our founders. We appreciate the heritage that has made Canada a country of choice — a place of liberty and opportunity, where people from every corner of the globe aspire to call home.

Let's embrace the spirit of peace and goodwill that defines us and continue to be a nation that contributes positively to the global community.

May Canada always flourish as it stays faithful to the Christian ideals that have guided us from the very beginning.
