Literacy and Basic Skills program funded by the province of Ontario through MLITSD
Literacy Nipissing, formerly The North Bay Literacy Council Inc, is a charitable, community based literacy agency providing literacy and essential skills upgrading to members of the community 19 years of age and older. Adults receive a literacy assessment and a personal training plan developed to meet their goals.
Our office will be closed on Monday September 2nd for Labour Day. We hope everyone has a safe and happy last long weekend of the summer!

With an Environment Canada heat warning in place for the next several days for the North Bay area, residents who need an indoor place to stay cool can access city facilities today through Thursday, including Memorial Gardens (sections 1,3,5 and 7) from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Transit Terminal on Oak Street from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Additionally, the Gathering Place will be making watering stations available at its location on Cassells Street
Head down to the North Bay Waterfront for Armed Forces Day! Memorial Drive will be closed from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Parking will be available at municipal lots 2 and 10 on Oak Street, near the North Bay Museum and North Bay Transit Terminal. Accessible parking will be available at the Waterfront and those attending are encouraged to wear red or blue.
To ensure safety, please be aware that the entire North Bay Waterfront will be a “No Drone Zone" during Armed Forces Day. Residents should also expect extra noise while the CF-18 Demonstration Team takes to the skies.

Exciting news! A replacement has been announced! Coming in summer of 2024, the GED will be replaced by the new Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) The CAEC is for adults who do not have a high school diploma but need an education credential for employment, post secondary or training. More information will be posted as further details emerge. https://ged.ilc.org/
Literacy Nipissing is available to help prepare you for writing the new CAEC, we have preparation classes available for adults age 18 and older in the Nipissing District.
