when the season is on the threshold of endings (summer)and new beginnings( autumn) and the weather is strange itβs that time of the year when doshas are transitioning. Pitta is giving way to Vata and with rains the Kapha is also somewhat in picture. Affected by weather and the Sunday mood itβs time for those refreshing one pot meals. Lunch today: one pot chicken rice- a medley of rice, chicken breast, onion, tomatoes, ginger , garlic and some spices like cumin, coriander, fenugreek leaves,black pepper, nutmeg, black cardamom, cloves. A dosha balancing meal for a family of various constitutions. Loving the melody and dance of aromas with the air in my household. Itβs time to play with the spices !
Ayurveda, says βHealth' is a state of equilibrium of normal functions of doshas, dhatus, malas and Agni with joyful body, mind and soul. Thus a consistent state of functional equilibrium is health. The distortion of the equilibrium results into diseases. Erratic lifestyle is believed to be one of the basic causes behind the failure of mechanism of maintaining equilibrium.
Treatment either with or without drugs and application of specific rules of diet, activity and mental status as described, disease wise, brings back the state of equilibrium i.e. health.

Balance brings harmony and rhythm. Rhythm makes us flow effortlessly. It reduces stress and increases productivity. Daily routines make our unpredictable lives a bit more predictable. When we know and do what works best for us we become more confident and attuned with our real self. Everyone has its own personal rhythm . Staying up late, suppressing natural urges, unmindful eating etc disrupts that rhythm. Regularity in sleeping waking eating and eliminating maintains the balance of doshas and health.

Sometimes itβs better not to react. There is no need to get upset with people or situation. They are powerless without our reaction. In life, when we cannot control whatβs happening then itβs better to challenge ourselves to control the way we respond to whatβs happening. That is where our power is π€π€

After preparing veggies for our meal 15 days ago, I did not feel like throwing away the seeded central core of red bell peppers. Reason :Seeds have hidden promise, hope and growth. They got planted instead.
And yes they are thriving in their new home.
belong to the nightshade family Solanaceae . Due to presence of capsaicin, it is anti-inflammatory and Anti-oxidant. I also a good source of beta carotene, a precursor to Vitamin A. As per red bell peppers aggravate vata and pitta but pacify Kapha. Pungent sweet and bitter in taste with an alkalizing effect, they are good for the kapha season.
Like everything, Ayurveda stresses that exercise should be in harmony with your constitutional needs . Kapha should go for strenuous workout, pitta the medium and for vata, the workout should be gentle and mild. Ayurveda says exercise for about one half of your capacity , just until sweat appears on your brow, arm pits and spinal column.
is astringent, sweet cooling and diuretic. Helpful as a mild laxative this nutrition powerhouse is balancing to all doshas. Vata can add a bit of cayenne, pitta some cumin and kapha can use some mustard seeds as seasoning/ tempering.
