I am so excited to announce that both my novels, The Woman in the Attic and Alone on the Trail are officially available as audiobooks through Kobo Audiobooks.

Narrated by incredible Newfoundland actors such as Shawn Majumder, Krystin Pellerin, and Jacquelyn French, Kobo Audiobooks has brought my stories to life in a whole new way. I am so excited to share this news and cannot wait to hear your thoughts.

To celebrate their release, I will be giving away some codes for free copies of the audiobooks. For a chance to win, like and share this post. I will be doing a draw for a chance to win one of three free audio copies of either Alone on the Trail or The Woman in the Attic!

Thank you endlessly to the team at Kobo who have once again made my dreams come true. I am so excited!

This weekend I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend the Toronto International Festival of Authors to celebrate the release the Audiobooks of my novels. To say the experience was a dream come true would be an understatement. I want to say a huge thank you so much to TIFA for having me and for facilitating two excellent panels, and to my incredible team at Rakuten Kobo for everything you have done for my stories thus far. I feel profoundly lucky that I get to wake up each morning and do what I love most.

I am combusting with excitement. I couldn’t be more thrilled that these incredible actors will be bringing my books to life in AUDIOBOOK FORMAT!! Thank you so much to Rakuten Kobo for your support in making this project (and so much more) happen. Keep an eye out for Alone on the Trail and The Woman in the Attic as audiobooks, exclusively through Kobo Audiobooks!

(I only wish 12 year old Emily, sleeping with her journal under her pillow, could see that her wildest dreams would come true. Thank you, from the very bottom of my heart!!)

03/04/2022

Tomorrow marks the release date of my third book, and first children’s book, Sweater. This is one of the very most exciting and special projects I have ever worked on and I am over the moon to get to share it with you. I cannot wait to hold a copy in my hands.

Sweater will be available through Indigo/Chapters/Coles locations, Costco St. John’s, and many local bookstores. I hope your littles enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. ❤️

02/01/2022

The countdown to Sweater is officially on!

I had so much fun creating the illustrations for this book. The art for this book was done digitally; one of the perks of digital art is getting to see a process video after the work is compete. ❤️

Cannot wait to share this book with you all!

It was so much fun to meet the wonderful staff of Chapters Fredericton. This is the first time I’ve seen my books outside the province…surreal and amazing! There are a couple of signed copies available, so if you’re in the Fredericton area and looking for new reads, maybe check out these two. 😉

Hey Fredericton, meet Emily Hepditch.

We had the pleasure of local author Emily Hepditch and her parents visit our store, so that her parents could proudly purchase their own copies of her books in-person. While she was here, Emily also kindly signed copies of her 2020 novel "The Woman In The Attic" and her 2021 novel "Alone On The Trail".

Emily Hepditch is an award-winning author from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, who has newly relocated to Fredericton after graduating from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Emily's bestselling debut novel "Woman In The Attic" has won the 2021 Rakuten Kobo Emerging Writer's Prize for Mystery. We want to extend a huge congratulations to you Emily Hepditch for this well-deserved award.

Keep an eye on our page for upcoming author signings in-store for your chance to meet the author and purchase your own signed copies!

I think it’s safe to say Little Emily was meant to write novels, not poems. 😂

06/22/2021

I genuinely do not have the words to describe how I feel today. When I wrote The Woman in the Attic, I could have never imagined the little life it would take on. Every day I take a moment to sit and appreciate the opportunities that have arisen from this story, and the wonderful people who have come into my life as a result.

Thank you so much to Rakuten Kobo for this indescribable honour, and for supporting emerging authors like myself and my fellow winners. Thank you to my team at Flanker Press Ltd. for all the continued support and for making today so special. And thank you most of all to my readers for giving me moments like these to revel. It goes without saying that this day has been a dream come true.

To all emerging authors waiting for the day they get to hold their published books: never, ever give up on your dreams. They may just become a reality. ❤️

About
From the #1 bestselling author
of The Woman in the Attic
Four best friends. One wrong turn. One shack hidden in the mountains.

To celebrate their graduation from university, Sadie, Julie, Morgan, and Jonah decide to spend a week backcountry hiking in western Newfoundland, tackling a remote route through the Long Range Mountains. Zealous, rambunctious, and overconfident, the group embarks on their self-proclaimed adventure of a lifetime in Gros Morne National Park.

But alone on a trail with nowhere to hide, secrets begin to ooze through the cracks of their bond. The farther into the forest the group moves, the more they drift apart, until their friendship becomes as difficult to navigate as the look-alike trees. And when they stumble upon an illegal hunting shack, the companions suddenly find themselves in possession of dangerous knowledge. Injured, separated, and being hunted by expert poachers, the friends must find a way to get back home before they succumb to the dangers of the trail-and the dangers posed by one another.

Alone on the Trail is a riveting merger of adventure and drama that will keep you reading late into the night-and make you think twice before wandering, unprepared, into the Newfoundland wilderness.

04/13/2021

‘Twas the night before book release, and all through the house...

Emily was bouncing off the walls with excitement 😆.

My new thriller, Alone on the Trail, will be out in the world for purchase tomorrow. I am so excited, nervous, and proud to share this book with you all. I will be spending the majority of tomorrow signing books, so if you’d like a signed copy, please get your orders into Flanker Press and we’ll look after you! I hope to meet many of you in person when stores can safely reopen for signings.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and enthusiasm for The Woman in the Attic, and now for my second baby. Sharing my work with the world is one of the (absolute) scariest parts of being an author, but the support I feel from this incredible community is overwhelmingly wonderful. So thank you, thank you, thank you! Here’s hoping I catch a wink of sleep tonight. 😜

Looking for a way to get involved with the writing community here in NL? Join WANL! Best decision I made 🙂

𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬!

At its 2019 AGM, WANL committed to doing a better job engaging volunteers. We've been putting together our database of volunteers from the preferences you indicated in your membership applications.

We're also making a direct call to any members who would like to join the committees below. The work of these committees is proceeding in spite of the COVID-19 isolation restrictions and meetings are taking place online. If you would like to join any of the committees below, please send your request to Wendy Rose, Member Services Coordinator: [email protected]. The Chair of the committee in question will reach out to you within a week of hearing from you.

𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬: Play a part in making local literary history by becoming involved with our Literary Awards Committee! This committee oversees the prestigious annual Newfoundland and Labrador Book Awards and the lucrative NL Credit Union Fresh Fish Award for Emerging Writers. Have your voice heard with regards to award guidelines, jury selection, media communications, event planning, and more.

𝐈𝐧𝐤𝐩𝐨𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭: If you grew up enjoying the magic of a bedtime story read aloud by a loved one, you're probably a big fan of podcasting! This committee oversees WANL’s Inkpod podcast, profiling the immense talent in our Newfoundland and Labrador writing community. As a volunteer, you could have a role in setting our schedule of interviews, editing podcasts, and have a chance to chat with a local author or figure in the literary industry about her works, hopes and dreams, and tips and tricks for other writers.

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡: Our board and staff are young at heart, but we want to be more hip with the kids. See? Who says “hip with the kids”? We need your help! If you’re 25 or younger, save us from ourselves by joining our Youth Committee. We want your thoughts and ideas on how WANL can better engage and serve our youth members. We’ve committed to doing at least one youth-only initiative each year, in addition to the selection of WANL programs and services youth are already eligible for. Your input will help us figure out what that initiative should look like, be it an event, workshop, panel discussion, contest, or something we haven’t even thought of yet.

𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐲: This committee is made for people who like to be a force for change and are supportive of their fellow writers. If you have a vested interest in the writing community in Newfoundland and Labrador, are swimming in ideas about the future of writing in NL, or are interested in trends in the writing and publishing industries, WANL's Advocacy Committee would love to have you on board. We are especially interested in members with a background or interest in Access Copyright, royalties, and funding/grants for writers.

If interested in any committees, or to inquire about any other volunteer opportunities, email [email protected] to connect with Wendy Rose, our Member Services Coordinator!
