Please be advised that if this Bill 88 is passed it will be de-regulating the currently controlled act of Acupuncture.
Acupuncture is defined as the act of inserting a needle below the dermis layer of the skin. Our current regulation as Acupuncturists controls clean needling practice along with over 500 hours of required clinical experience with over 3000hrs of in class education including anatomy and physiology along with TCM Theory and Acupuncture point location needling and diagnosis. These educational requirements and clinical experience is required before writing and passing two Pan-Canadian board exams prior to gaining the license to practice.
Currently in Ontario Acupuncturists is a Controlled practice in which only Registered Acupuncturists may perform. By de-regulating this practice it is eliminating the standard of practice along with the current status of health care service for Ontario.
