Japanese shield fern (Dryopteris erythrosora) is also known as Autumn fern. Native to east Asia where it grows in woodland shade on the side of hills and mountains. They are known for their coppery foliage during spring time and is perfect to bring that hint of wild nature magick to your home. 🌾✨
This beauty does best in medium to bright light, away from south windows and drying vents.
Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly, nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished artfully.

Flowers hold symbolic significance during the summer solstice, also known as Midsummer. The summer solstice marks the longest day and shortest night of the year, and it has been celebrated in various cultures throughout history. Flowers are often associated with this time due to their vibrant colors and blooming season during the summer. They represent the vitality and abundance of nature, symbolizing growth, beauty, and the power of the sun. In many traditions and festivals surrounding the summer solstice, flowers are used to create wreaths, garlands, and floral decorations, which are worn or displayed as a way to honor the season and connect with nature's flourishing energy.
Join us tomorrow to celebrate Summer Solistice! The longest day of the year has special meaning as we embrace the light, outdoors and nature, and feel alive again!
The shop will be open late to soak up the sun and when you spend $25 in-store you’ll receive a small plant and dried lavender bundle as our solstice gift to you. 🌾✨
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
-F. Scott Fitzgerald
Maidenhair fern belong to the genus Adiantum, which derives from Greek word adiantos meaning “unmoistened” or "unwetted", and refers to the fronds' ability to shed water without becoming wet. This ability to shed water is due to the leaflets being covered in a thick waxy epidermis with strong water-repellent properties.
While it is natural to assume the name comes from the wispy black petiole that resemble strands of dark hair, this is not the case. Rather, the name is derived from the intricate web of roots, that when untangled resemble fine hair.
During the 17th Century it was thought that rubbing these roots on your bald spot would sprout you a new head of hair. This use was based on a popular conception at the time that for every disease or ailment that afflicted humans, an obvious cure in nature would be found. For plants, their usefulness was determined by their colour and shape. The roots of this plant looked like hair, so they must be a cure for baldness!
Beautiful, quiet and strong, the Staghorn fern always reminds me of the wild and mythologies of old. 🦌✨
Often when I find myself stressed by trifling times and let’s face it, sometimes people (we all have them in our lives🫣) I turn to indoor gardening for that much needed grounding…
Oh what would we do without nature?? 👨🏻🌾🌾
