Today is the Day! Day one of tour was such a whirlwind! But we have made it to Slovenia, and are so looking forward to the amazing collaborations and performances that we are going to have. We have an exciting week to ahead! Stay tuned! ❤️🙌🏻
If you were able to join us at our concert this past Saturday, you would have been one of the lucky few to experience the musical magic of our Chamber Choir. Singing one last time this season for a Canadian audience, these choristers blew us all away with their captivating performance and awe-inspiring singing. They now look ahead to embark on a life-changing tour to Slovenia this week to represent Toronto and Canada on the international stage!
The TCC is extremely appreciative for all of the support we've received in preparation for this momentous trip. In particular, we would like to acknowledge Ambassador Andrej Gregor Rode and the Veleposlaništvo Slovenije v Ottawi / Embassy of Slovenia in Ottawa, & the Slovenski Dom in Toronto and President Majda Resnik. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Canadian Slovenian Chamber of Commerce in Toronto, and especially to Chair Sonya Rosenwirth for her exceptional efforts in securing donations for our tour.
We also wish to thank our fantastic guests, Plamen Vocal, for sharing the stage with us on Saturday afternoon! And as always, a special thank you to our phenomenal percussionist, Jamie Drake!
Keep an eye out on our social media channels over the coming weeks to stay up to date on all things Chamber Choir and their tour to Slovenia!

Last Sunday, members of Little Portugal and all of Toronto learned the devastating news of the fire at St. Anne's Anglican Church. The entire TCC community is heartbroken by this tragic loss. The historic venue was one of TCC’s favourites, as it hosted the first concert of each season with all of our Training Choirs for 10+ years prior the pandemic. The church will always have a special place in our memories, along with so many others of the choral community who have had the privilege of performing in this beautiful and sacred space.

Last weekend, many of our incredible TCC staff traveled to Montreal, QC to take part in Podium: Congrès et festival choral / Choral Conference & Festival, Canada’s national bilingual choral conference and festival and the top meeting place for Canada's choral and group singing arts sector and community. We're ecstatic that so many members of our team were able to attend, participate, and represent the TCC in this massive event!
Special thanks to Alliance chorale du Québec & Choral Canada - Canada Choral for organizing a successful and fantastic choral weekend!
🌈 It’s hard to believe that it’s already been ONE WEEK since our 46th season finale concert, “True Colours: Let Your Light Shine!” at the George Weston Recital Hall in the Meridian Arts Centre! The levels of musicality coupled with the vast spectrum of artistry displayed at the performance was truly an experience to behold. We are so proud of all of our TCC choristers who graced the stage last Sunday, from our little KinderNotes kids all the way to the Choral Scholars!
🌟 A special thank you goes out to our guest artists, Ori Shalva, whose performances during our concert illustrated the brilliance and capability of what the human voice can do, especially when singing in harmony.

Thank you so much for offering your time, commitment, and dedication this season to supporting the Toronto Children's Chorus, its choristers, and staff!

📣ANNOUNCEMENT: After an extensive search, we're thrilled to announce that Charissa Bagan will be joining the Toronto Children’s Chorus as our new Associate Artistic Director! 🌟
Charissa brings with her a collaborative spirit and a wealth of experience, passion, and dedication to the choral arts that aligns perfectly with our values here at the TCC. 🎶
In Charissa's own words: "I am thrilled to join the Toronto Children’s Chorus and contribute artistically, pedagogically, and strategically to this remarkable organization! Zimfira is one of my earliest and most influential choral mentors, and it is a dream come true to be able to work together and support her in delivering a transformative music experience to choristers and audience members alike." 🌟
Charissa will be transitioning into her full-time role with the TCC in July 2024, and we can't wait to see the incredible impact she'll have on our community. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome! 🎉
The Toronto Children’s Chorus mourns the loss of Sir Andrew Davis, and we join the musical community as we commemorate and celebrate his life and work.
During his 13 years serving as Artistic Director for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Sir Andrew’s vision and passion were catalysts for the birth of our organisation. As described in his obituary, “he provided the impetus for the founding of the Toronto Children’s Chorus when he asked Jean Ashworth Bartle to create a children’s chorus to perform regularly in the TSO’s season performances.” The Toronto Children’s Chorus was founded by Jean in 1978 in response to this request, and our first cohort of choristers was trained to sing with Sir Andrew and the TSO during their 1978-1979 season, the foundations of a long lasting relationship that would later include Roy Thomson Hall.
From our inaugural performance alongside the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker to the premieres of his own compositions (Chansons Innocentes (1984) and Alice (2003), settings of Lewis Carroll), Sir Andrew's impact is woven into the very fabric of our Chorus.
His loss is felt deeply by the TCC family, and our hearts and condolences go out to his family and loved ones. We are so grateful for his partnership, mentorship, and friendship, and forever inspired by his unending passion and musicianship.
Rest in peace, Maestro.
