Hi everyone 👋🏻

I’m Linh Nguyen and I’m The Movement Clinic’s resident physiotherapist. I’m looking forward to helping you return to the sports or activities that you love.

As a clinician, my passion lies in empowering patients to better understand their bodies and conditions. I focus on providing clear, actionable strategies so you can take control of your recovery. By integrating education with personalized treatment plans, I aim to equip you with the knowledge and tools to manage and minimize the risk of further injuries independently, helping you build confidence in your movement and long-term health. Together, we’ll unlock your potential to heal and thrive.

I will be available at the clinic on Thursday from 3pm to 8pm and Saturday from 9am to 2:30pm.

Yesterday our clinic team had our Christmas party. What a great way to keep the holiday going for a few extra weeks. 🥰🎄

We want to take this opportunity to thank our clinic community. We're so happy to be serving such a warm and supportive group.

Hello friends and patients! It's been a minute since I've been on the feed. I wanted to provide an update to you all on my absence from the clinic over the last year.

At this point in time, I will not be returning to direct patient care duties and am formally stepping away from my role as Athletic Therapist at The Movement Clinic. The clinic continues to grow and my relationship with the team remains strong (I still pop in for visits as a patient!).

Over the last year, I have been working in a full time role that does not provide direct patient care. I continue to work on weekends as an Athletic Therapist with a Jr. Women's hockey team here in Toronto. My professional journey has shifted to better align with my personal priorities and I have been able to restore my own health and wellbeing to much more sustainable place.

As of March 1, 2022 I stepped back from my direct patient care duties. I did not know how long my leave would be, but knew that for my overall health and wellbeing it was necessary. These are never easy decisions to make - I had developed a great relationship with my growing list of patients and was excited to work along side the growing team of practitioners at the clinic. But my plate was overflowing with all of the commitments I had been juggling, and my passion for Athletic Therapy had shifted.

Almost three years ago (Oct. 2019), Dr. Sharja invited me to join her on starting The Movement Clinic. At first, it was just the two of us treating out of a powerlifting gym. Under Dr. Sharja's leadership, the clinic has grown into its own space and expanded to a team of 9!

I am grateful to have learned alongside such kind, considerate, knowledgeable individuals as I continued to develop professionally. And I am forever thankful for the patients of the clinic that allowed me to work with them throughout their own journeys toward health.

Thank you all!

Our hips don’t lie.

Whether it’s injuries to the low back or feet, you will always find me checking my patients’ hip function – that’s a necessary step towards thorough injury management! Our hips are powerful structures that are a major influencer to our lower body mechanics.

My hip assessments involve:
▪️functional movement observation, eg. squats and lunges
▪️assessing joint range of motion quantity AND quality
▪️orthopaedic testing of the joints involved
▪️strength testing of the hip muscles
▪️hands-on assessment of the tissue around the joints

All of the above tests help me understand what is causing the pain, and what lead to the injury because they can be 2 different things. Once this is established, I can properly get my patients on that road to recovery.

To all of our dear friends and patients,

It’s been a wonderful and crazy year as a personal trainer. I am writing this letter to let you know that my chapter at this great clinic has to come to an end. ❤️

I will always cherish the love and support Dr. Sharja and the whole team has given me. The Zoom meetings while we were in the height of the pandemic, the outdoor sessions with my clients and lastly being a part of the “Setting the Bar” project (it wasn't easy but I am glad to have experience it and done it with them)!

Although it was short time, I believe we've reach many amazing accomplishments and I have no doubt there will be more great things to happen here.

Thank you for all your faithful commitment Dr. Sharja and for your continued support. The clinic is surrounded with the most amazing therapists, most amazing patients & most loving family and friends! 🥰🙌🏻

A lot happened in our first year but it still feels like we're only just beginning! We've said it already but we'll keep saying it... THANK YOU to our community! 🥰 It means so much for you to support us and entrust us with your care. We don't ever want to take it for granted. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿

It’s been a true privilege to serve our community cycling team who participated in the 2021 Virtual and this August. The cycling team doubled in size, they surpassed their fundraising goal for the Princess Margaret Foundation, they all reached personal bests, and everyone remained healthy doing it! 💯🙌

On behalf of our clinic staff, thank you for having us on this journey with you! 🙏 Thank you to and Northern Pass for encouraging healthy movement, and continuing fundraising endeavours because cancer doesn’t stop (and neither did you guys! 🙌) Thank you to our community who donated towards cancer research at - every little bit counts.

Assessment is a big part of treatment planning when it comes to my practice.

This piece of equipment is called the goniometer and it is used to measure the range of motion of the joints in our body, such as at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles.

It helps me measure the extent of joint motion before and after treatment. The changes can be small or massive depending on how well the person responds to treatment. By measuring that change, I can understand if my treatment is working properly or if I need to make changes to better reach my patients’ recovery goals.

Sport-Specific Training 💪🏽

A large part of my summer work as an Athletic Therapist is focusing on off-season training. Preparing athletes and active individuals for the demands of their sport:

✅ Maximizing strength
✅ Increasing power and speed
✅ Improving movement awareness & coordination to prevent injuries

This is a band resisted lateral shuffle drill that is applicable to almost all sports - hockey, soccer, football, rugby, basketball, you name it. Learning how to stabilize against oppositional force, and work under high resistance will train your body for the unpredictable game like situations.

, whether you're an athlete preparing for season, or just looking to improve your confidence with everyday movements!

The Tokyo Summer Olympics are done but if there was one takeaway from that event, it was that strength is defined as the capacity to withstand against great force or pressure.

No better word describes Simone Biles () and her decision to withdraw from certain events. She did not feel safe performing certain moves while in the air. She chose to protect her mental and physical health, despite the abundance of pressure she was facing to compete. We salute you Ms. Biles! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

The glute bridge exercise is a great way to target the posterior chain. Strong and healthy glutes help stabilize the pelvis which helps when walking, sitting, running, etc. So make sure to do your glute bridges!

If you want a little more of a challenge, try using a stability ball!

Start with the stability ball pinned to the wall. Lay down on your back with your feet on top of the ball (feet are hip-width apart) and knees are 90 degrees from the bottom position.

As you bring the glutes up for a bridge, simultaneously push with your heels against the ball and keep your elbows to the ground for stability.

At the top position, you want to keep your pelvis neutral and your rib-cage in a relaxed position.

The key to a quality rep is to slow down the tempo at the downward motion, time under tension.

If you need more form tips, we're happy to help! 😉👍🏻
