IMPORTANT DATES FOR WINTER TERM- 2023

In light of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in British Columbia and concerns raised by students and faculty, University Canada West has decided to move all classes online for the month of January.
All classes and student services, including New Student Orientation, will be moved online.

COVID-19 Updates

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, University Canada West has extended its hotel voucher offer to new international students arriving in Canada.

Under Canada’s COVID-19 travel rules, international travellers entering the country must self-isolate for 14 days. To help students cover some of the expenses, UCW is giving $650 vouchers to eligible students who are self-isolating in a hotel.

To take advantage of this offer, students must book their hotel stay through Hotels.com.

The vouchers were first offered to students last fall, but the program has now been extended and is available to new students who started/are starting their courses in the Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall 2021 terms.

UCW's Pre-Arrival Package(https://resources.finalsite.net/images/v1619560694/uwoca/siz1y6xo1peycafnet2c/Pre-Arrival-Package.pdf), a COVID-19 information resource for students travelling to Canada, has also been updated to reflect recent changes announced by the Government of Canada.

Students need to submit their complete study permit applications for the fall 2021 semester. If IRCC receives the complete study permit application by May 15, 2021, students will get a decision by August 6, 2021, in time to attend the fall semester. IRCC may not be able to process the study permit application by August 6, 2021, if students are unable to submit a complete application because of COVID-19 restrictions, due to reduced service at visa application centres (VACs)
other providers.

If students submit a complete application after May 15, 2021, IRCC will process it as quickly as possible—but students may not get a final decision before the fall semester begins.
