Regent College
Regent College is an innovative graduate school of evangelical theology in Vancouver, BC.
For more than 40 years, Regent College has been a unique place to study. Continuing the vision of its founders, Regent takes seriously the education, nurturing and equipping of the laity—the whole people of God—to live and work as servant leaders in vocations within the home, the marketplace, and the church.
How can we cultivate habits of heart and mind that produce both the sensitivities and resilience we need to live transformationally? This is the key question that we will explore together with Dr. Prabo and Dorothy Mihindukulasuriya in this year's Fall Retreat, "Sustaining Faith."
There are just a few more days until registration closes on Friday, September 6. Sign up now at:

Swing by the Dal Schindell Gallery from September 4–October 30 to view "Wandering in the Shades of the Night," a series of sculptural installations by Shirley Wiebe. Shirley will also be holding a reception on September 11, 4–7 pm, and an artist talk on October 9, 7–8:30 pm.
Named after a Mennonite hymn, the exhibition considers how a background of faith and perseverance through persecution and resettlement shapes human destiny, and was inspired by a journey to the site of a ruined ancestral Mennonite village in Ukraine, where only an uncanny staircase remained.

"Christianity, in some ways, gets a little bit distorted by the emphasis on the Word. It was also the image, but we left that behind." Listen in as painter Alfonse Borysewicz discusses "Art and Transcendence"—the healing power of images, various forms of theological reflection, and how good art goes hand-in-hand with good science and good theology as a faithful "mimic" of God.

How have religious and lay leaders creatively adapted a faith system to the changing social-economic conditions of advanced capitalism? Read on for David Robinson's review of Andrew Lynn's new book, "Saving the Protestant Ethic: Creative Class Evangelicalism and the Crisis of Work"—a "definitive sociological account of the evangelical faith-and-work movement in America."
Lynn tells the story of how evangelicals have sought to overcome the sense of alienation arising from the Sunday-Monday divide. Guided by a sophisticated critical analysis and a keen moral sense, the book includes a wide-ranging overview of the movement that is enriched by in-depth interviews with evangelical leaders. C. S. Lewis famously spoke of experiences of “joy” he had early in life, describing a longing for “a half-remembered realm from which we are currently exiled.” In this lecture titled "Unfulfilled Desires: How Music Helps Us Understand Our Deepest Longings," Jeremy Begbie will explore the ways this has been expressed through music, and compare this pre-Christian unfulfilled desire with Christian hope.

The increasing temptation to live like machines hinges on two appeals: to stop working so hard and to let the machine do better more efficiently and justly. But Christ's rejection of these underlying appeals in the wilderness, and his ministry, have much to teach us about how to live as human creatures in the midst of artificial intelligence.
Dive deeper through "Living as Creatures in a World Built for Machines"—an Evening Public Lecture by Dr. Jeff Bilbro, next Wednesday (July 24) at 7:30 pm. Find out more at: https://www.regent-college.edu/about-us/events/event-details?event_id=1289
