"A Night of Music and Unity: Marcelito Pomoy Shine in Vancouver Island”
MAP Entertainment hit another successful concert held at the Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. The night was a celebration of beautiful music performed by the immensely talented Filipino singer Marcelito Pomoy mesmerized the audience with his extraordinary voice. Known for his unique ability to sing in both male and female vocal ranges, Marcelito once again proved why he is a star beloved by many.
Marcelito's journey from humble beginnings is truly inspiring. Despite growing up without his parents, he never saw his circumstances as a hindrance. Instead, he used them as motivation to hope and strive for a better life with unwavering hope. His journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and positivity. Now, as an internationally acclaimed artist, he continues to bring the name “Pinoy Pride” not only to the Philippines but also to other countries, including the UK and various parts of Europe. Marcelito's philosophy, “Basta walang inaapakang tao” (“Just don't step on anyone”), resonates deeply as he encourages everyone to enjoy the journey of life. This inspires everyone to embrace life’s journey with integrity and kindness, reminding us that true success is achieved without compromising others.
The concert was a vibrant showcase of Filipino culture and talent. The Sidney Brass Band performed beloved Filipino folk songs such as “Magtanim Ay Di Biro,” bringing a piece of the Philippines to the audience. The evening also featured performances by other talented local artists, including RJay Garcia, Thia Lanuza, Amie Aquino, Ella Ybannes, Rayver Agapito, and Rosario Strings. Each performer captivated the audience with their beautiful voices and heartfelt performances, adding to the night's magic.
The event was a collaborative effort supported by various local companies like VNC Family Homecare LTD, Tim Hortons, Mega Power Installation, Salad Master and Filipino organizations, including the Victoria Filipino-Canadian Caregivers Association (VFCCA) of Vancouver Island. Their involvement underscored the strong community spirit and cultural pride that were evident throughout the night. We, the UVic Philippine Community (UPC), felt honoured and grateful to be part of such a meaningful event. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow Filipinos and celebrate our shared heritage through music.
We extend our gratitude to MAP Entertainment for producing and hosting this beautiful concert here on the Island. Events like these are special not only because they entertain but also because they provide a sense of home and community for Filipinos living abroad. They help to ease the homesickness many feel and remind us of the rich cultural heritage we carry with us.
Indeed, music holds the incredible power to bring forth smiles and joy, crossing all boundaries and uniting humanity. As we embrace our Filipino culture and values, let's take pride in our heritage and maintain unwavering hope for the future. Here's to many more forthcoming concerts and events with MAP Entertainment, continuing to bring joy, unity, and cultural pride to our community!
