🔎Sunday Spotlight 🔍
We can't wait to have Janet Stewart get crankie with us at our Sunday night concert as Emcee!
Janet Stewart has worked in broadcasting since the last Ice Age. You may recognize her from CBC Winnipeg News. If so, you may also be surprised by her lack of height and refusal to wear respectable shoes. Janet is originally from Nova Scotia, which could explain her fondness for bagpipes. She is happiest in the company of dogs and folk musicians. Consider subscribing to CBC Manitoba's YouTube channel for more of her charming banter.

Winnipeg Crankie Festival
The Winnipeg Crankie Festival was founded in 2018 by Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous, and celebrates Crankies, which are the forerunner of modern film. CrankieFest combines folk music, folk art and the written word to create an interactive experience for all ages, and is one of only a handful in North America celebrating Crankies and the art of storytelling at one festival.
Winnipeg Crankie Festival is presented by Home Routes/Chemin Chez Nous, a non-profit organization supported by the Canada Council For the Arts, Manitoba Sport, Culture and Heritage, The SOCAN Foundation, FACTOR and Manitoba Music. The Festival is brought to you in cooperation with ArtFest, Crescent Fort Rouge, The Winnipeg Folk Festival, The West End Cultural Centre, and Winnipeg Jazz Fest.
