MEME international guest headliner ANTHONY ROTHER plays The Cube tonight from 10pm - 12am. See his bio below.
We have a beer garden right next to the stage and after party tickets to the Pyramid are $40 at the door or available through the link in our bio.
Anthony Rother is described as an influential visionary, an electro pioneer and one of electronic music’s most prolific producers. For more than two decades Rother aggregated a vast musical canon that reflects his unique career as a sound researcher exploring the aesthetics far beyond the boundaries of electro, techno and pop music. Starting his recording career in the late ‘80s, the Offenbach-based producer established himself in Germany’s electronic music scene with his first two releases, "S*x With The Machines" (1997) and "Simulationszeitalter" (2000). In 1998, he founded his label Psi49Net, allowing him to keep his artistic independence and showcase his vision of electro music that cultivated a unique storytelling approach, guided by dystopian future visions on societal changes due to technological progress. The vocoder-driven vocals and the dark dystopian synth sound with machine-like beats have become Rother’s trademarks, even before he found international recognition as a science-fiction avant-gardist with the virtual electro-pop project "Little Computer People" (2001) and his 3rd solo LP "Hacker" (2002). In addition to his many production works, Anthony has also worked and co-produced with several prominent artists such as former Kraftwerk member Karl Bartos, Sven Väth and DJ Hell. In late 2017, Rother resurfaced with an EP on Danny Daze’s Omnidisc and contributed the track "Technic Electric" to Fabric 96 mix by DVS1. Last year, Rother returned to his Psi49Net label with a new album "3L3C7RO COMMANDO" that transports a clear message: Anthony Rother not only lives in and through his pure electro music, he still has something to say – here and now. The past represents the future.
It's a perfectly BEAUTIFUL day for MEME at The Cube! Music runs from 12:30pm to 12am. We also have a beer garden right next to the stage 🔊🍺

Tickets are $40 and available through the link in the first comment below.
Artist feature: Coliwog
Date of performance: June 7th
Venue: Little Brown Jug
Tickets: memetic.ca/tickets
Coliwog is a resource, building space and connection within the electronic music scene here in Manitoba. He’s a creator, collaborator, teacher, and instigator of musical event escapism. He serves across and in-between many crews, organizations, and events including The Demand, Bring Your Love Festival, Skullspace, Always Dale, Studio on Beat Street (TOR), MI-CASA/Menagerie, MEMETIC, Dusk-til-Dawn, What’s Golden, and Diaspora DJs to list a few.
He is a driven entrepreneur and a lover of satire who is always thinking critically and hilariously about current events, philosophy, and the broader artistic landscape. His approachable nature has become a gateway, encouraging others to dabble and to dive-in to the depths of electronic music. Connection with community fuels his creative fire, both as an event organizer and DJ.
International warehouse, club, and festival experience bring a vibrant global perspective to his creations as he drives home the human experience behind the DJ Decks. Coliwog is cooking up some lusciousness in AFRO, PROGRESSIVE, HOUSE, and TECHNO for dance floor attendees to imbibe deliciously. You must catch this vibe for yourself on Friday at 9:00pm at Little Brown Jug.
Artist feature: Trevor Walker
June 8th @ The Cube
Set time: 5:30pm - 6:45pm
For 30 years, Trevor Walker has been one of Canada’s best kept secrets. But talk to anyone who’s danced to his sets, booked him or shared the decks with him and the word legend is often use to praise his work. Collecting and playing music since 1988, he spent 21 years as a resident at Ottawa’s Mercury Lounge, one of the longest lasting and most respected venues in the country, playing alongside DJs such as : Derrick Carter, Louie Vega, Joe Claussell, Gilles Peterson, Fred Everything, Quantic, King Britt, Dj Spinna, Osunlade, Roger Sanchez, Josh Wink, and the list goes on. He also shared the bill with bands such as : Jamiroquai, The Roots, Gil Scott-Heron, Maceo Parker, Alice Russell, SouljazzOrchestra, The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, BembeSegue, Galliano, and many more.
A walking musical encyclopedia, he’s responsible for shaping the eclectic sound that has defined Ottawa’s club scene for over two and a half decades, partly due to his various radio shows over the years on CKCU FM 93.1 such as : New Soul CollectveSaturdays [1990-2001], Flava Zone Sundays [1991-1996], Undergrove Thursdays [1992-1999] and his current Friday Drive [2005-present]. His radio shows and club nights have showcased a wide spectrum of genres, covering Soul, Funk, Afro, Jazz, Latin, Carribean, Hip Hop, Trip Hop, Acid Jazz as well as his trademark House and Techno sets. He’s particularly known for his use of 4 decks, layering hypnotic beats and adding acapellas over his inspired and informed selection.
On top of his long lasting residencies at Atomic and Mercury Lounge, he’s also graced the decks at many of the countries best clubs and festivals, including :Stereo, Piknik Electronik, Salon Daome, Montreal International Jazz Festival and much more! This is his first time visiting and playing in Winnipeg...

Artist feature: US Marshall
Date of performance: June 8th
Venue: The Cube
Cost: FREE
After party tickets: memetic.ca/tickets
Marshall was at one time or another the Co-Production, talent manager, gopher, jack of all trades and Chief Meatball for Connect Festival, (at one time) Canada’s longest running electronic music festival. He has been playing music for just over 25 years making him a "veteran" in the local Dj community and with the final Connect under his belt, he is making the most of his “twilight years” in the music scene. A distinct ear for music, solid mixing, impeccable programming and the ability to play any time slot keeps Marshall in demand for gigs and festivals all across Canada and the US. A featured artist at Astral Harvest(AB), Oh Canada! (SK)and MEME(MB) in past years. He has also played a private party at Movement, one of the biggest Techno festivals in the world, hosted in Detroit MI.
Marshall keeps a ferocious pace for someone of his age and experience but as he get older and things get busier he is becoming more selective of when and where he plays. The man who always plays one of the “sunrise sets” on the Main Stage at Connect, he is as dedicated as he is old. A Dj who loves to be the "set up" guy or "the closer", something most Dj's hate, Marshall rarely gets the recognition he deserves: The guy who sets the tone for many of the best parties out there, or sends everyone home with huge smiles on their faces. Marshall loves music of all kinds and you can tell it by the smile on his face and the sounds emanating from the speakers. House with a jazzy, soulful feel, gritty tech and soothing vocals are always focal points of Marshall's sets, which often turn into adventures all in themselves. Anytime you get to see or hear him, whether playing or dancing, make sure you go and say Hi, Marshall has the reputation of being one of the nicest guys around, and always has a funny story to share.
