In this three-week course, you will learn a step-by-step process to build and refine your idea, validate it, get feedback, build a prototype, and basics of sales and marketing to take the concept to market. The Instructor, Siva Ramamoorthy, is an Entrepreneur, Global Corporate Leader, Board Member and has been in two successful start-ups. Entrepreneurship is a potent innovative tool. ICT Summer School 2020 classes started today as online sessions. Once again it is great to see professors all around the world to share their knowledge to students of Metropolia and partnering universities.

Hyvää Juhannusta. Happy Midsummer.

At midsummer, the people in the Nordic countries celebrate the lightest time of the year and the proper start of summer season. The short winter days are far behind and one can enjoy the long days and white nights of Nordic summer.

It takes place on the Saturday between the 20th and 26th of June. Originally a pagan celebration, it was a tribute to Ukko, the god of thunder. Since he controlled the rain, you had to be nice to him in order to get a good harvest.

Nowadays, Midsummer is also a celebration of Saint John (hence the Finnish name for the holiday: Juhannus), a time for some people to consume vast quantities of alcohol and a popular weekend for weddings and confirmations.

In the old days, unmarried women would use special charms and bend over a well, naked, in order to see their future husband’s reflection. In another, considerably more modest tradition, one that continues today, a young lady can collect seven different sorts of flowers and place them under her pillow. She will see her future husband in a dream.

ICT Summer School The international ICT Summer School is held every year in August. It gives you an excellent opportunity to enhance your knowledge on different areas of information and communication technology, and at the same time explore Finland, meet new people, and expand your network internationally.

Plans for the ICT Summer School 2020 are on the way. The venue is Metropolia Karamalmi campus on the corner of Nokia Campus in Espoo. The programme will be published in the ICT Summer School website on April.
